1k kms here <---
+ves
1) Boringly stable. It's so damn stable till the speeds that I've been able to take it to till date (i.e. around 100 kmph @ < 7k rpms) that I don't get the feeling that I'm riding a bloody 94k machine. It almost feels like a Splendor on steroids (no offence to the Splendor owners here)
hehe...Even I feel the same sometimes...but that fades away while accelerating hard on signals
3) Deceptively fast or is that speedo error
but anyways I'm loving it.
I guess my NS doesn't have that much of speedo error...I checked mine with a ZMR & both bikes were displaying the same figures...or maybe both had equal amount of error
4) The torque and power distribution at higher gears 4,5 and 6 is good. Can't say the same about 2 and 3.
Agree...needs a lot of gear changes in bumper to bumper traffic...the first 3 gears gets chewed up in no time.
5) Being a pervious Pulsar owner I know for sure that what ever vibes the motorcycle produces would be there, because (a) this is an Indian motorcycle after all with an in house developed engine and the technology has to a long way (it has come a long way already but still there's distance left) (b) this is not an electric engine and some sort of vibes are bound to be there because a lot of mechanics are going inside. So, put things into perspective and you have one of the smootest country made engine at your disposal, who, like the prodigal son always comes back with providence.
Very nicely said...

1) Buzzing from the front visor and that would be resolved soon.
+1.But I guess that has to do with the awful road conditions near my locality.
3) Slight vibes coming to the handle bar between 6k-7k rpm. Below that and post that there's nothing. I know this is not an issue for sure, but would discuss it with the service center during the next service and would surely go for more runs at those rpms in that time.
hmmm...my NS vibrates at around 4.5-6k rpm...below that & post that there's nothing.Seems a little weird to me as till now I thought that a vehicle is supposed to vibrate at higher RPMs instead...
4) Unnecesary attraction puller and that has proved to be harmful as someone decided to put an autograph on the tank (I'm still trying to find that artist so that I can gift him an unusable limb of him)
lololol...unusable limb...mind I suggest an eye patch instead !!

Lol...Originally posted by Nithyan.S View PostIs there any problem if I ride in the 6th gear between 45 - 60 kmph...? A friend of mine ( R15 owner) said, not to put 6th gear for speeds less than 60 kmph, and that will reduce the bikes top end performance in future.
How true is it...?
Also my cousin commented that NS doesn't have that much initial power compared to the 220 or rtr180,and that NS don't stand a chance against them in a drag.
Can anyone comment about this....
I wonder why such misconceptions still exist...there won't be any problem if you ride your NS between 45-60 kph in the 6th gear...
Also, its only in the "feel" where 220 feels more aggressive than the NS in the lower RPMs...i.e when you accelerate hard on the 220 you'll feel that you are moving very fast whereas on the NS you won't feel that you are moving that fast...but put them on clocks and you can see the difference...some owners have already posted about beating 220s,dukes & even a CBR250 R in a drag race on their NS...even I've slayed a 220 DTSi on a drag very easily...

Some R15 owners specially the ones freshly out of high schools have some very seriously funny concepts about motorcycle. Really if a motorcycle with 6 gears should not be ridden at speeds lower than 60 kmph, as the dude to ride a Hayabusa (without killing himself that is) at 6th gear at 30kmph and see if it goes to it's restricted 300kph in the same roll on or not!! Seriously, the Indian population motorcycling population needs an overhaul of mindsetOriginally posted by nishant.sukharia View PostMy replies in BOLD.

2) The horn. Well can't do much about it as I want to protect the battery. The best way out is to improve my riding skill and reduce my dependency on the puny horn.

Odo reading - 3700km
Positives
+ Braking: Very good stopping power in dry, wet or gravel (I am still using stock eurogrips)
+ Speed: Relentless acceleration till around 120kmph (I think 120 is good enough for me :P)
+ FE: 40 to 43kmpl which is more than expected given my riding style
Negatives
- Handling: Not a big fan of cornering abilities.. In my opinion requires more body weight transfer as compared to some of the earlier bikes i have ridden..
- Flat spots: Very noticeable during 5th and 6th gear roll on acceleration. Noticed between 6000 and 7000 rpm or around 85 to 100kmph.
- Horn: Sucks. As with csajal, I have changed my riding habits to use less of the horn (and indicators - use hand signals more these days)
- Vibrations: Buzzing in the front assembly, panels below the tank and handle bar.
Possible fixes, as suggested by fellow xbhpians:- Set of allen keys to tighten the bolts
- Double sided tape for the front console
- Wheel alignment for handle bar vibrations
After following the AFR posts on this thread for quite some time, I decided to go for it. Gave the screw a little less than quarter a turn ANTI-CLOCK wise. For illustration purposes - the rotation equivalent of turning the clock hand from 2 to 11.5
Short term feedback on AFR adjustment:
+ No snatchy feeling while accelerating. Smooth acceleration from low rpms
+ In the past 2 days of riding, did not notice the flat spots. This has been mostly city driving. Will take it out on the highway this weekend and update.
? Effect on FE: No idea as of now. Will have some insight in 2 weeks time.
Planned upgrades
? White LED pilot lamps
? Rim stickers: Have a red bike - not sure if i should go with white stripes or red - Please suggest

Your comments are bang on....very justified. Service has been an ordinary aspect and the tiny niggles are continuing to bog the people down. Its high time bajaj must rectity the troubles once and for all. God knows if that time will come.Originally posted by smrutisourav View PostAfter 15 km ride, in speeds below 55, I reached at coaching class. So after 3 hours when i getting ready to get back home, bike didn't start at all. I inserted my keys, turned it on, radiator fan continuously rotated, i tried to crank the engine, it didn't start. And coolant temperature light turned on. How can coolant get heated just by standing for 3 hours! Even I left fan rotating for 15 mins, with no help. It was late, i called my brother to come over there, then called showroom mechanic. The mechanic was just 4 km away but he was taking too much time to reach. During that time, my brother's friend asked to show him where is battery. He just playing with the terminals, fan was still rotating, then there was something towards left of battery, he just touched it, fan stopped, and when i cranked bike started. When he pressed it, it made a click sound, so i think it was some kind of fuse, will check it tomorrow morning again.
I had really gone frustrated. I really doubt what PDI was done on bike when it was delivered. Showroom guy said it will take 3 days for PDI. So i got my bike after 3 days, moreover I really doubt if they follow the checks written on the manual for first service!!
This time I'm going to shoot a mail to Bajaj Customer Care, about the kind of service I have got till now. This is a awesome bike, and for these small things people will consider this isnt good bike. I was so embrassed when bike didn't start and hearing to people's comments 'Pulsar will be pulsar'.

And as far as rim tapes go, red for red is perfectly matching! Get a thin strip like in the RTR.

In my opinion what your "R15 owner" friend was suggesting was that you should prevent engine knocking , cause that is a really bad practice.
I dont have an experience of riding a 200ns yet, so cant say that how tall the 6th gear is and how much torque is there @ low revs but I will say that
for a CBR 250R it is recomended to put 6th gear only after 5.5 to 6k rpm in 5th gear which is 71 to 80 kmph something.
Find the right shift rpms for your bike and do practice this and never ever let your engine knock , a bit higher revs dont harm your engine but knocking does.
I think it must be around 60 -70 kmph for 200ns (just a guess as it has shorter gearing)
as far as your cousins statement ( LOL) , in a qaurter mile drag 200ns will beat both the mentioned bikes easily.
For 220 , cant say what will be the result when both bikes pushed to their top end over long stretches.
Had a similar incident while i was racing on my 99' CBZ with a friend on FZ16. FZ having a lot more grunt easily overtook initially but near the top end i was catching up to him slowly and overtook him after a while . I guess it has to do with the gearing or something .

Well, I went to SVC to get center stand installed (@Rs.600/-) and I asked the mechanic about the gear shifting and whether he did anything for that. He said he didn't do anything for gear shifting. He has no idea how gear shifts become smooth. So I guess the solution is still eluding us.Originally posted by nilesh14587 View PostEven I want to know whats the solution. So that if in future it happens it can be sorted out easily. Too bad my holiday for today got cancelled, so cant go to svc now...chances of getting center stand is also dimmed now.
But whenever i go there I will try to find out ans will let you guys know for sure....
BTW, got Collinite 845 day before yesterday and I applied a coat of it on Red Painted panels of my NS. Though Collinite does not hide that well, the micro-scratches and swirl marks, but it does give a noticeable impressive look to the paint. I liked it. Now what I am gonna do is, take some rubbing paste (3M or motomax may be) and remove the micro-scratches and then reapply Collinite on top of it. It gives a smooth finishing feel and a nice wet look. Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...

Happy to see that most owners have started learning in a correct way on how to adjust the AFR for best results...Originally posted by Red_Redemption View PostAfter following the AFR posts on this thread for quite some time, I decided to go for it. The earlier discussions on AFR adjustments are proving to be very useful....
The Authorised Service centers of any bike manufacturer seem to be clueless on tackling problems with the bikes...except for water wash and oil change, nothing else seems to be done...Of course there are some good ASC, but they are very rare to find....Guess most P200NS owners have to fend for themselves, and it is heartening to see most of them going the DIY way Successfully.Originally posted by swashbuckler01 View PostYour comments are bang on....very justified.
