Have not experienced when on low fuel number of times. I have got some questions here -

    1. Are you guys keeping your chains too tight? My chain had loosened up and got it tightened during 2nd service. Chain still has some slackness and I am not sure if its ok kind. I was thinking about getting it as tight as possible. Is it ok to do so?
    2. I too had low engine oil indicator issue which I brought to notice of SVC. Guys there did not replace anything but just did some cleaning of the sensor & repositioning. Post that, have not noticed that issue again.
    3. My choke turned out useless during Leh trip. Anybody facing similar issues here?

Also since the winters would be round the corner by the time of second service should it be better to pour 10w40 instead of 15w50 for the winters. I used to follow this strategy with my FZ and it worked superbly and my bike had no cold start issues and was smoother than my friend's FZ in the winters.

@rahulbarik dada u mentioned to have tried different grades of oil during different seasons in your bike, what's your take doing the same with the NS....??
I am definitely not the one who should be answering your questions, but I would recommend you not to -
    1. Switch to fully synthetic oil during second service. Try factory (mineral) oil for another service. I have switched to Motul 3100 Gold (20W50) (SS) and thinking of switching back to mineral as apparently no difference was found.
    2. Switch to different grades as would void warranty and never know what problems it might create internally since engine is rev hungry.

It often takes a humiliating overtake to understand that an early jump off the red light won't help them lead the pact. All I want to say is - Go after green.

    • How to access the air-filter? is it under the front seat or under the tank?

How can i clean it using just plain water or using petrol/kerosene? Do i also have to lube it with the SAE 90 grade oil?

Was getting quite irritated with the Dead spot and the bad Low end Torque problem on my NS. So yesterday thought of doing a proper tuning of the bike. But while tuning, Turning the screw anti-clockwise felt that the bike is getting a richer mixture. After making quite a few anti-clock turns, the RPM wasn't getting down. So did the setting where I felt the throttle crisp with every blips.
Took a test ride, And then all the problems were gone. The bike felt butter smooth with linear power delivery all through the RPM range, and also found a better low end torque as well. The bike is rolling off from ZERO, in the 1st gear, just by the release of the clutch (without even touching the throttle). The ride really brought a big grin on my face . But the test was done just after the tuning, and thus the engine was hot. (the current AFR screw setting has more ANTI-CLOCKWISE turns than what was there in the original condition)
Has been raining from morning today, so couldn't check how the bike performs when cold. Am very eager to test my DESTINY in the cold condition.

My bike was like that before 1st servicing. Used to take-off without revving the engine much. But after 1st servicing things are not that smooth. Even i suspected that the svc guy had fiddled with the carb settings and set it to leaner AFR. I am planning to go to SVC this Sat.

I don't remeber exactly, but its 900+ only in Pune as well.

And did you mean 10W50 and not 10W40?? any xW50 is OK for NS as recommended grade is 20W50. Colder the normal ambient temperature lower should be x. I am running on 15W50 in Pune. I think in winters, 10W50 should be OK in Delhi.

EDIT: 300v @ second service is too early, use it after 10000km. Right now you can just stick to SS (3100).

        Just my opinion..

One can experiment with 10W40 for winters. However because 200NS has short stroke, high revving engine it heats up much more. In Delhi, it won't before end of November, before you can make use of lower grade oils, that too till about the end of JAN. But yes, we can use lower grade oil during winters. However cold start issues is will not be affected by using XXW40 instead of XXW50 grade oil. For cold performance, look for 00W50, 10W50 etc oil.

There's some chain sag after tightening the chain and also the noise. But too-tight chain is not desirable as well. What's exactly is the issue with choke?

200NS has Paper air filter, which is cleaned by blowing air, no oil etc. It's under the tank, and quiet cumbersome to open!

Ok, Just came back from a good enough ride on my DESTINY, after the tuning. The ride really made my day. Every thing was almost perfect. However, felt that the pick-up was decreased a bit at the higher end (though did'nt cross 5k limit), but still more than enough. The bike is now also perfect for city rides. (good enough low end torque)
Couldn't feel much of a difference on the exhaust note, but there was a nice and sweet whistling kind of sound when ever used Engine braking. It was more like the whistling sound which a turbo engine in a car produces or say an aeroplane produces. (don't blame me, my hangover is still there from the ride)

Also the idle RPM stays at 1.2 - 1.3 k even when the engine is hot, and doesn't increase.

Buddy, some amount of chain slack is always required. even the user manual states the required amount of slackness. So tightning the chain at the fullest is not at all recommended.

If u do so, please ask the SVC guy, - Which way turning the screw gives a richer mix.

OOps, I thought that the filter was present under the front seat.

And @RD, I couldn't get the guts to open up the spark plugs. Neither did I ever opened it myself, nor did I see any one opening it.

Well, what if I tried installing electronic fuel injection on my pulsar 200 ns? Would that harm the vehicle in any way? I'm thinking it would improve fuel consumption, eliminate cold start problems and provide linear power delivery throughout the rpm range. Can someone help me or correct me if I'm wrong?
If I can do it, what's the costs involved?

hi everyone......this is my first post and i was read this entire thread...am also posting some of my blue monster pics..
while reading the entire thread i noticed that lagging under 3000rpm is a common issue..am also facing the issue but after the first service...i went to the showroom and report the complaint and they said that there is a small lag under 3000rpm while accelerating on all ns,its because the bike is designed that way..you should always maintain a speed abve 4000 rpm..the engine is smoother above 4000prm..i think the issue is with the afr screw..anyway i have completed 1900km and facing no other issues other than oil sensor...

Atleast 15K will be the cost. It might not harm the vehicle, but it's not worth the effort, in my opinion. Fuel consumption is one thing, but calibrating a FI to NS will be difficult. Moreover there are no cold start problems, if the carb is correctly tuned. And I can't see, how FI will provide linear power delivery, on the other hand you will have a snatchy throttle response on lower revs.

Considering that you succeed in installing a FI in perfect harmony, still how much mileage difference will be there? Hardly 1-2 KMPL!

                          • Fuelling issue?

                            Hi guys,

I'm currently at 3700km on ODO and have been experiencing a strange fuelling (?) issue for the past 200-300km.
The bike feels like it's running out breath when approacing 7,000rpm and continues this till I'm almost at 8,000rpm.
At 8,000rpm there's a sudden surge and the bike shoots off. This is very disconcerting while cruising on highways!
If I pin the throttle when doing 100kmph, there's a lag of about 5-6 seconds after which the bike blasts off towards
                            120kmph.

Being used to my R15, I'm not too familiar with tuning the carb. Will need your help Rahul Devnath. I'm sure this is
a tuning issue, though I'm confused as to how this issue could have started off by itself. No tuning was done by me
                            or any mech...

Okay guys, last day when I was riding to my college with a pillion, on 50-60 km/hr I failed to detect a bump on road.. the bike just jumped over bump... after that moment, the oil indicator started to blink... I was worried. Sudden impact on bike made sensor faulty?... so after college, when I turned on bike, the indicator was gone...
