  • People constantly reporting issues of acceleration, vibrations, roughness in gear shifts is coming in my way. Else, I would have bought the bike by now. I think I am going to list down the frequently occuring issues and take the list along if and when I go to buy the bike and will ask Bajaj guys about their take on them.

    • ^^ these issues are the only thing that stopped me from buying this bike. I bought an R15 yesterday. 200ns is a much more practical way but these stupid issues really irritated me. Even yesterday before buying i went to bajaj showroom and asked these people about the same but they refused all issues.

Bajaj must instead take it honestly in a sporting spirit and look to rectify the issue to make the bike a better quality one. I think Bajaj overdid it by trying too hard to keep the bike sub 100k INR.

It's not easy. 200NS is the epitome of Indian motorcycling tech, period. Bajaj wanted the bike to be sub 1lakh even then making good profits. Interestingly none of the issues (if they are are issues after all), are related to quality. Problem are their only because of the poor workmanship at the svc centres. Considering that even one plonks in a after market FI and good set of tyres and everything of the highest quality it would still turn out to be cheaper than a R15 while providing much more power!

I second that. I feel my bike with stock settings and fittings was way better than it is now after 1st service. I would be thinking twice next time for 2nd service now. The svc guys just screwed up the bike. Bike vibrates like hell. They dismantled some parts of the bike during service and didn't put them back properly. A refit job and a lot of vibrations were gone. That surely proves it was created during 1st service. And worst they don't accept that there are issues. They just reject by saying its like that with all bikes. All bikes my foot...

I too have it. I described it here long time ago. It irritates me a lot. I think it could be tappet sound. As during service i think the mechanics did something with tappets and the engine sounding much worse now. And it could be just bad carb setting also (may be too lean mixture). which is making engine work too hard. And I also think that this whole thing makes the bike vibrate badly.

Hey Shiba, I asked the svc guy (hes the KTM guy) and he confirmed that anti-clockwise makes the AFR richer.

Definitely during run in period will ride slower to understand the bike better ... Whether there is any cover available for pulsar 200NS and heard somewhere in thread bullet cover can be used any specification for it???
I have bought a bullet cover for my NS. just select the largest size available. I have the XXXL which larger than the NS but is very helpful and covers the entire bike almost touching the ground. costed me Rs.350.

That makes sense mate! Its the service center personnel who seem to need some training. I hope they quickly learn by experience.

                    • Can anyone share their good experience with Bajaj SVC in Bangalore or anywhere else so that riders can try to go to that SVC as much as possible.
I am sure this will help a lot of us. DO SHARE

Well, engine makes sound to the level which is irritating...
Bike used to vibrate like a chills of terror running down its spine when run at >5000rpm. But tightening of some bolts reduced it quite a lot. But still tank pads vibrate and it makes my "b@*&s" freak..you know what I mean.. But the svc guy promised me detailed refitting, so i am hopeful that it would be reduced.

I think the engine needs some attention which should further reduce vibs as well. Its all happening after 1st service. So its safe to assume that it was the svc mechanics' crafty work. Little perseverance and things will be OK I hope.

Rest all is just fine and satisfactory.

                          • Even I've had a similar problem to that of @ sree@mumbai. Everytime I start the engine I hear a rattling sound. The sound was nowhere to be heard once the engine oil was changed during the 1st service. A week later (i.e today) it's back again! It's kinda irritating and gets me thinking "wth is going on in there?!" I've been maintaining my revs below 4k and just a few days back I began taking them to 7k once in a while. The vehicle's run 700 kms. What seems to be the problem?

                            Except for that,
                            1. Im getting excellent mileage of 47.432 km/l (reserve to reserve method).
                            2. I tuned the carb to get a mildly richer afr and the pick up's awesome!
                            3. The gearbox is like a hot knife through butter!
                            4. The brakes - The bite's too good!
                            5. Zero vibes! ZERO!

If anyone would ask me, I'd DEFINITELY recommend this bike to them. But someone please help me out on the rattling sound.
And is it alright to take my revs to 6-7k during the run in period, once every 50 km or so?
Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

                            • I had got my yellow NS delivered on 4th of September and have clocked 150 kms. Initially the bike felt very smooth and almost perfect and I was quite happy.
I had filled it with Rs500 petrol i.e. 6.5lts.Today the bike refused to start and to my utter dissapointment the tank was almost dry. This means it returned me a mileage of only 25kmpl.Guys please advice me what should I do as my father is very angry as I was the one who recommended this bile. The bike has also become quite harsh.I had been following the running-in procedure from the first day properly and had touched 80kmph only 3-4 times. Please help!!

Well buddy same thing occured with me. I bought it on 29th and put 500/- (300+200) of petrol, and last night bike went to reserve at 167kms. But the thing to notice is, the dealer gave almost no petrol at the time of delivery. and the bike has 2.6 ltrs of reserve capacity. (2.4 usable +0.2 non-usable)
S u got 150kms from 3.9 ltrs (6.5-2.6) which gives a mileage of 38.46 kmpl. Happy????? (Unless you are saying that the bike stopped after using the reserve capacity as well..)

For me mileage was 42.82kmpl (167 kms/3.9 ltrs ). In that period, I was also experimenting with the AFR screw, and there was a something of 30-40 odd kms which I rode with a Richer mixture. I am still to find out the right AFR setting (happy with performance, but now have to check the mileage properly) and will give a proper mileage report once i do that [and the rain god permits me to do that]
