I know it's controversial but I did it the motoman way with my P220 with absolutely no problem whatsoever and plan to do it again when I get the 200NS and then again in every motorised contraption I get to own until the day I die.Originally posted by consciyash View Post

I am in total agreement with your kid on the Color selection...Originally posted by consciyash View PostColor and design things are totally relative..
about me.. Yellow is the only color which was not repeated from previous generation pulsar and second thing is my kid loves this color!!
and one more this, it is metallic!! (in fact all colors are metallic in pulsar but some manufacturers prefer solid color for yellow)
it is not pure yellow.. in pictures it depends because the color itself has some orange tint in it.. so do see before you book..!
May be the no. plate on my bike is bit high!

One guy was watching my bike, while I was is bank.. when i came near my bike..
He (loudly) said to his friends " Yaar, ye toh YAMAHA ka copy kiya hai TOTAL!!" (this bike is totally copied from yamaha - Fz)
i asked him,"do you know the full form of BHP..??"
he said it is related to power..
then I said, grow up.. all Naked designs look same.. this is Pattern/structure and not COPY!! all dirt bike looks same.. all faired bikes has "FAIRNING"!!
he said,"sorry bhaiyya.. malum nahi tha!"
And like you pointed out Yellow is the only new color (Although the Black is not pure black it is brownish but not so evident)...
I have already booked with yellow as my preference... Waiting...____________________________________________

I am also 5'5".I dont care about the height and already booked it. I used to handle my p150 with ease; also I have many friends shorter than me riding p150 apache etc easily. You dont need that much height to handle a bike IMO. If you are worried about it, take a test ride before booking.Originally posted by s_hari View Postcount me too bro. got a test ride of duke today .. loved its acceleration .. didnt like its speedo console , but i think people riding duke wont have time to look at the speedo ...
the sales rep who sat behind me during test ride nearly fell off backwards thrice while accelerating ... i saw the bike reaching speed in 90's in very short distance ...i shifted all gears above 7500rpm .. acceleration on 2nd gear is brutal ( it can do a power wheelie with a pillion ) ... the engine is always angry and goes mad when revved up ..
now my question is ,, is the 200ns similar in acceleration and pull ?

The 200 Duke due to its short gearing has neck jerking acceleration. The 200NS has a smooth, positive and relentless pull right upto its redline. But no neck jerking pull. The 200NS accelerates linearly in the manner R15, Ninja250R accelerates.
In terms of character there is absolutely no similarity between the 200 Duke and the 200NS.
The 200 Duke is an out and out City Street Scorcher. But it's maniac character also limits its crusing ability. Over 100 kmph the 200 Duke doesn't feel relaxed and is not as refined as the 200NS.
Surprisingly the 200NS is way smoother than the 200Duke after crossing 7000 rpm. The 200NS is a more versatile bike, it is good as a city bike, can cruise comfortably till its redline and surprisingly is a better handler than the 200 Duke..!!
Having said that the 200NS can't beat the 200 Duke in sheer performance.

Main reasons why I am opting P200-NS over D200:Originally posted by Rohan200ns View Postgot a test ride of duke today .. loved its acceleration .. didnt like its speedo console , but i think people riding duke wont have time to look at the speedo ...

1. PRICE (~35000, that's big money).
2. Pillion Rider seat dimension, D200 is extremely small, If I have a bag to carry then no one can sit behind.
3. FE of P200 is better than D200.
4. Looks... I love the way P200 looks... D200 is not bad either...
Risks:
1. Reliability and Longevity of the P200-NS. Will come to know after a couple of years. (I have my reservations here because I have ridden a Honda Unicorn for the past 7 Years without a glitch hence moving to Bajaj is a risk IMO)
2. Quality of the product(P200-NS) is still a grey area as I have not seen the bike myself.
Ps: The above points are my opinion only!!!Last edited by annydhanya; 06-29-2012, 01:41 AM.____________________________________________

the sound of duke along with its insane acceleration is very addictive .. the display showed 15kmpl during my test ride .. all the previous pulsars had a dead feel in the gearbox while dwnshifting , but duke gear shifts had well weighted feedback and feel that the gear is slotted into place ( just like r15).. now that ns is having the same gearbox , is the feel and feedback from the gearbox same as duke ? exhaust note of duke is just perfect as it makes tells the people around it that its a performance bike ... i honestly dont want the ns to be more refined than duke .. i would like the engine to be gruff and angry .. bajaj should provide a valve at the exhaust tip which opens up partially depending upon the force of the exhaust so that it makes a loud and hard hitting sound ( just like the exhaust valves in aston martin ) ...Originally posted by payeng View PostThe 200 Duke due to its short gearing has neck jerking acceleration. 1) Yes, it is backlit. In previews posts you can find pictures of the switches at night.Originally posted by s_hari View PostCan any body tell
1) If P200NS switchgear is backlit?
2) What is the colour of illumation for the speedo console
2) Orange.

I'm 5'7'' and I got my NS on Sunday. In the last 5 days I've ridden it almost 80kms daily. Its a fact that the saddle height is quite high as compared to a P220 but there are a few things you can do to make that ground below your feet well in reach of your legs.Originally posted by s_hari View Postcount me too bro. Unlucky souls like us can be happy by looking and hearing about the ride experiences of fellow bhpians. Best pill is to get glued to this thread.
Firstly, replacing the rear tyre with a lower profile tyre like the one on Yamaha FZS i.e 140/60. It will reduce the seat height by quite a few millimetres, the 140/60 should fit without the need for any major modification and I think, though not sure, that there is enough space at the tyre hugger to accommodate the fatter tyre.
BTW Duke's rear tyre would be great at the rear but I don't know how it can be accommodated. Seniors will be able to throw some light in this regard.
Secondly, MG suggested that a few mm can be chopped off from the seat as well to lower it, if he says so its definitely possible, he doesn't speak on the basis of assumptions and has ridden the NS much more than any of us.
Thirdly, a pair of shoes
, yup you read it right - shoes, which have a thick sole not only at the heel but also at the front end below the tow and fingers as you'll be managing your bike on them.
Fourthly, learn to manage the bike with one foot on the ground and the other one on the foot peg. Payeng has posted a few images few pages back where he has brilliantly shown how that is to be done, you need to learn to transfer your weight quickly to the side towards which you'll be grounding your feet.
I'm 5'7'' and I wear absolutely flat shoes and have no problems in managing my NS. It's a gem of a bike and nothing should stop anyone from owning one.
I hope you find some help in the above points and get your NS soon

Bajaj Auto price hike
Bajaj Auto may hike prices as rupee falls, raising input costs. So will this make P200NS a <1 lakh bike?
