I also agree that thicker oils hold on to their viscosity better than thinner oils.. say 20W50 to 10w30...
Heres where you are wrong... 10w30 oil... or thin oil... or any other grade of oil has to do with engine clearances more so then mileage..... some engines have very tight clearances...... hence they require a 10w30 oil... whereas some engines have 'wider' clearances and need 20w50... it all comes down to the engine design, even the manufacturing process etc....
Also, bad mileage figures with thicker oils is due to the fact the engine has to overcome higher frictional forces and pump action in order to push the thicker oil around... also in an engine that relies on oil splashing in the sump to lube up the bore... using a thicker oil can result is quicker bore wear..(your engine!)
Your better off with a synthetic 10w30 recommend grade... v/s a mineral 20w40.. the synthetic will hold itself better than any mineral grade...
I hope you dont find this offensive my friend. I just wanted to explain something. If I may have sounded impolite please take it that its the typing and in real life I would have explained it better face to face

Divyansh....

most of them are posers... and i'm not getting enough to my bike.....
usually in indian condition the engine oil must atleast be 20w40.. 10w30 drains faster and the oil burns as the engine heats up and it is bad for the bike....
these are the best oil you can get
