Exactly my thought. When i am not ripping it off and i am constant under 7k rpm. Shouldn't i get better mileage. May be my commuting is less. By the time it shows 20+km/l on console i am already at my destination.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
The mileage I am getting is 100% city riding. I am terrified of the highway because i was in a close call while riding pillion on my friends fz, a couple of years back. And I take mine out very rarely like lets say, 3 out of 7 days I use the duke and rest of the week I am on my dio. Not because of heat or anything but because my father says that you should use both.Originally posted by Veeral View PostThanks for reply.

And how much do you have on odo? One of my friends has an rc390 said that till 1000 kms the vibrations make your balls wanna drop off but after first service it feels great. Havent had any ball dropping vibes yet.
BTW my bike is in svc for first service after a humble 650 km on the odo. Will post my experience on any change in smoothness, mileage or even clunky gear shifts. And another thing be careful with screenguards for the display. An svc guy told me that that could result in foggy display problem. Its the only problem I have faced yet.:touchwood:
And another question I had was; Is it possible to get the rtr metallic finish lever fitted on this bike? I know we can electroplate it or something but anyone done that?Last edited by rohangk; 09-14-2015, 07:58 AM.What do you call a biker who does not wear a helmet? An organ donor.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
I can understand the fear bro I have been riding a karizma for 10 years and I have rode it like crazy initially but gradually matured to a better rider. I have had been close to God on numerous occasions and have been in panic for following weeks but then I had to overcome that fear and next time I rolled by throttle I did it with caution and once I understood that with great power comes great responsibility and respect for the machine I was able to connect with my bike and ride as one with her.Originally posted by rohangk View PostThe mileage I am getting is 100% city riding. So I would say that you need to connect with your duke 390, ride with her to understand her and then move ahead with confidence giving her the respect she needs.
It would be scary at time but unless you get closer to your ride you would never overcome that scare.
Gift your dio to someone else or your sibling.
Ride with your duke as one and one day you will achieve harmony my friend.
Ride Safe.
Respect your ride.
Respect the good people riding near you.
PS. I also understand that our parents give us advice for our own good and that has its place but I just shared my thoughts with you. Peace.Last edited by sanketss84; 09-14-2015, 09:49 AM.

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Has anyone come across this issue called "shim setting" ? My engine head gives out some weird clickity-click noise, svc mech said something like shim setting and valve clearance needs to be adjusted. Anyone has any info on this problem?

A shim is like a disc thingy of precise height that prevents that clickity noise. Changing or adjusting the shim will stop that clickity noise by increasing valve clearance. Thanks for the advice. But it"ll probably take me like another month or so to get over that memory. And you were the guy who rode a d390 after d200 right? Almost 2 years old November2013 buy, 16k kms on ODO. I'll update on the shim issue as soon as they take any measures.Originally posted by rohangk View PostA shim is like a disc thingy of precise height that prevents that clickity noise. Yes I rode the duke 200 for half an hour it was my friends ride so he was cool with it.Originally posted by rohangk View PostThanks for the advice. But it"ll probably take me like another month or so to get over that memory. And you were the guy who rode a d390 after d200 right? How was the experience
The duke 390 was a test bike and I could not experiment much with it but it definitely felt punchier and the abs feel was new to me never got a feel of the abs felt like there was no bite while I was applying brakes but the bike did come to a halt I need to understand this better.
Probably I can comment more when I get my own ride and that's a month away and I dont think my few minutes test ride experience would count much.
The duke 200 was an amazing ride a total fun package.
One thing I liked on the duke 390 compared to rc 390 was the seating position its a huge difference. The moment I sat on the rc I was leaning forward and had a bit of pain in the back I am not a lean guy I have a nice belly and weigh 94 kgs I can't be seated in that racy position for long also felt pain in my wrists on the rc.
The duke on the other hand felt great when it comes to seating position also no wrist pain.
One thing about both 390s its easy to go fast it just zooms with a throttle spin.
More later. Ride safe

Interesting note on screen guard. Could you shed some light on the fogging display issue, how does the screen guard pose this fogging issue, any add oninputs from the guy who informed you this would be great.Originally posted by rohangk View PostThe mileage I am getting is 100% city riding. Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

Re: KTM Duke 390 - Owners Reviews and Experiences
Idk much but I am guessing that its probably because of the glue or the vacuum being created due to extreme environmental heat or heat from the bike.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostInteresting note on screen guard. P.S- I did this screenguard thing myself and started facing this issue after some dumb jealous kids removed it.What do you call a biker who does not wear a helmet? An organ donor.

Would you please record the sound it makes. I might have it too. Need to double check that's why. Recording and identifying will be bit hard to figure out, but I'll upload when I get home. The noise does come from the head of engine that part is easy to notice.
So far they have again taken the engine down third time now, the noise is still there... I'll update as I get more info.

That's called BS.Originally posted by rohangk View PostAnd another thing be careful with screenguards for the display. An svc guy told me that that could result in foggy display problem. Its the only problem I have faced yet.:touchwood:
the foggy display is water vapour on the inside of the console. you apply the screenguard on top.
i've used my duke with and without a screenguard. first it was the stock 'screenguard' that comes with the new bike (which is mostly peeled off by the svc) and later used a mobile screenguard that i had lying around. no issues whatsoever with either of them in the rain.
i have itchy fingers so finally the temptation to pull it off got the better of me both the times, but not before i covered around 3500km with each of these on.
