  • Bike's finally home after almost 2 months......

    finally a sigh of relief,
finally a good sleep without much worries,
finally no more daily visits to the mech
finally no more browsing and finding parts across town
and finally, the most different fiero i've ever ridden (or maybe I'll ever ride) till date.

a huge writeup will follow soon,
but still its not 100% over, a few bits and pieces are still left...
Giving a lot to a fiero.
Expecting a lot from a fiero.

      • @NANOtech... waiting for your detailed post....

@Gixxer ... thanks for the input... considering even the bullet runs on a similar carb like ours right?

        HELP!
I had a flat two days back ... a nasty long crooked nail dug into the hind... had to replace the tube. I have since noticed that the bike has become rather sluggish and hard to rev and does not respond well to the throttle twists. I feel more vibration around my left foot peg. Anyone faced the situation before?

I had told the mech to tighten the chain slack as well ... (well he did not do it, but told one of his new boys to look into the matter) could it be a case of over tightened chain or something?

Anyway, these old school parts are no way accurate. Sometimes my bike shows E when it is just entering reserve or just 20-30kms.into reserve!
          Rely on the tripmeter buddy.

Sarvajit... I guess it's a faulty float... not very accurate is it?!?

Yes, I got it. Replace the float at the next service&your problem will be solved.
Don't expect it to work perfectly in reserve though-mine never did right from Day 1!

yes of course, over tightened chain will make wheel run harder & put stress on engine, so obviously mileage will reduce..

Yeah bro, even the bullet's ran with 26mm carb with the older engine.
Smaller carb means torque at lower revs and putting a bigger carb without other mods will reduce the top end too.I mean the throttle will become affective only till 3/4 the opening only.
So,for stunting and hilly regions smaller carb is good.

Like the others have mentioned ,it definitely looks like a over tightened chain issue.

Get the alignment set properly, wrong setting will cause vibes too.

While at it, check and see if the wheel is bent.

                      • I don't exactly know how to start.

                        let me do it anyways.
I've already mentioned small details in a new thread which will follow after approval, but here's a treat (pre release) to all my buddies in this thread where i belong.

first and the foremost, the upgrades.

                        • TCI (180's)
                        • New switches (p135's)
                        • new wiring (rtr 160's)
                        • bigger ports
                        • new (used) exhaust (rtr's)
                        • rtr's REARSETS installed
                        • new headlamps (p220's)
                        • one of a kind charging system (found in cars)

i had also bought K&N and karizma's jet, but i gave up that idea, as it didn't seem to be performing well with the K&N, and it turned too loud.

so followed stock airbox, 9 amp battery, and other mods that you guys already know of.

                        Have a look.

well, the reason of installing the car alternator was to simply run my new bulbs, they are 100w of pure HID, the brightest automotive bulbs ever made.

Beam spread pics will follow soon.

Lets just talk about the engine first.

Its become a hell of a machine, the power is more than what it was before, maybe the exhaust, maybe the ports, or maybe the TCI, but even with a dip in the head, it pulls much much better than before.

the head work was done by the best guy in town, and he's done more than brilliant job.

the rear-sets make the bike very easy to maneuver and feels much planted, they were actually installed to avoid the belt touching my toes as the gear lever was just below the crank pulley.

                        it handles like a dream.

revs pull up very smoothly (thanks to TCI) and the bike has NO STATOR COIL, so every damm thing (including the spark plug) is powered directly from the battery itself.

i personally hate the EXHAUST, its too loud and too ugly and resonator inside it has been removed by us, it was a junkyard search, didn't find anything in a better condition.

it was necessary to install it because the Rearsets don't allow my exhaust to be in place.

i don't have much left to write further the brain isn't working.., ask questions, and I'll recall and let you guys know whatever hard work was needed to make this happen..

My mouth is still open when I saw the alternator.... and not to mention that 100 HID which I never heard of it man. Are going to screw all these truckies with this light?

Would love to read more about ur meaty monster in detail as a new thread. Do post this in the electrical thread too. Especially the new HL with the mean lighting system and item wise details.

BTW, how will u survive with a open alternator on rain? Do u've any shields?

                          • Nano what an outlandish attempt to put a car alternator on the Fiero....and glad you succeeded. Your light set up is good too,but 100 Watts .
You should cut the crank shaft extension outside the case to be close to it,and not stick out like now,and put a guard box on it so that there will be no accidental contact...., Great Ideas, Good Job.
Have you thought ....that your Alternator might get stolen since it is outside.

                            • The rearsets and the exhaust fit so well!
It feels as if they came with the bike. And the alternator job is very clean! Think of some design for a cover over the pulleys and the belt.
The headlight isn't lookin as bad as you told me over the phone.

                              Congratulations on completing the work!

Me and abhi were discussing as to how in hell can such engine modification jobs(matching head and porting) take such a long time ,which is at worst half a day's job here. You had told me that the engine head works were done ,how long ago was it? a month?.But now i know why it took so long. As long as you feel the engine is revving freely,it's worth the wait.

The things which i am glad you got done:

                                1. Matching the head
                                2. Porting.
                                3. Rear sets
                                4. RTR Exhaust, made free flowing.Louder the better.
                                5. TCI Conversion.
                                6. I am very glad that you didn't go for the K&N. PSR and Abhi will agree. It needs lot of carb tuning and if not set up properly it'll ruin the bore for sure and the carb slide periodically.

Did you try the USD handle set up?
