I remember speaking to you when i was in the market for my bike's tyre and you suggested me to go with dun-lop.I am surprised you didn't had any problems with the stability ,
don't know whats wrong in my case.I face a lot of problem during rains.

Yes, I have been using the Dunlop GeoCruiser 100/90/18" on my bike since the last 30+K kms./4 years. It has been giving very good stability&never skidded in rains etc. also.
I remember you saying your tyre rubs against the chaincover. I doubt whether your tyre was fitted properly, coz in my case it has more than an inch of clearance.
Like I said earlier, bring it down here, we'll take it to my mech.&figure out what went wrong.

          • hello there
            i own a 2004 f2
clocked 50k but recently a clicking sound (pretty rough though) has started coming from the engine.
it leaks oil like anything from past 2 months
i have to top it up with atleast 400ml castrol power 1 every 15 days.
performance and mileage has gone down terribly.
i want to make it at least normal.
i also want to install hid.
tvs service guys cost a bomb.
any suggestions as what i need to get done?
Giving a lot to a fiero.
Expecting a lot from a fiero.

Why are you worrying about what all spare parts you need. If the dealer is ready to install the disc for you and he says he can do it in a day (it really is a day's work). Drop the bike at his place and let him install the disc.

The dealer is not doing this for me. I am just buying the parts from him & get it fitted from my mechanic & hence this query.

Ok, then the list of parts looks ok. I got my fitting(got F2's disc fitted years back) done at the service center itself so don't exactly remember the list of parts but what you have mentioned looks fine. Just one suggestion though, just check if the A150's lower fork tube fits on Fiero.

Also you will need the disc mounting hub, since A150 has alloy wheel you will have to pick the one that was used in F2/FX (if you want to use spoke rims). Now you will also have to check if the A150's disc will mount correctly on it.
But then on A150 the disc is mounted on right side while on F2/FX its mounted on the left side. So next thing is you will have to look into the speedo cable fitment.

being a 2001 model i think its not just the piston rings and valve that needs to be changed.
i got work done for my 2004 f2 from the tvs svc even i thought the valve and the piston rings replacement would be enough, but it was not the case, i had to bore the cylinder, new camshaft, new timing chain, rocker arms, ofcource over-sized piston and rings..... with new gaskets at every opening (oil issues)

it cost me 5k but its worth every penny.
1 suggestion, DO NOT wait for doing it later, you'll end up paying more, stitch in time saves nine
my rocker arm and camshaft had to be replaced as i delayed the process and they took the beating...

                              whats your odometer reading??

if your getting the engine opened up, don't rely on these roadside mechanics, go for professionals as its an important, time consuming and sensitive process..
it would be fun to watch so i suggest stay there and observe (they'll do better work in your presence)

do keep us informed about your bike.....

anyways people i have this problem of oil leak from a very long time, after changing almost every gasket it still leaks, i think its leaking from the front chain sproket as it leaks only when i put the bike on the side stand!
the stand gets wet and almost 5 ml of oil leaks everyday.
not even a single drop leaks if i put on main stand!
does it have a gasket which i can replace???
or something else is making it leak..

Thanks mate for your reply and concern... I have done nearly 70K on the odo. Don't do too much long rides these days due to work. Hardly 20 kms a day. Holy cow! Cam Shaft and everythng!?! ... so that means the cost is going to shoot up! I need to find a good service station for the whole process. The mech says it is going to take two days.
I am planning to leave the bike this Friday. Fiero parts are quite hard to find these days... any suggestions for alternates? I guess It would be fun to watch my bike being dismantled and reassembled again. The mech says it's going to be like a new bike again. Do I need to follow the usual break-in proccedures again? or can it be pushed hard after the changes?
                                Thanks again for your info.
