These days the concept is use and throw, and not use and preserve.A ZMA at half cost of CBR250 can give you peace of mind and nearly equivalent performance...the CBR rolling out now seem to be more dependable than initial lot,but even small things like oil filter are not available...and once out of warranty the fixing of tappet noise through shim change can set you back by 2,000/- easily...the parts are expensive, and so is the maintenance...
End of day it is your money and your decision.....

what u just said is right!! but what am i gonna get if i sell my old bike??? 12k??????? so isnt it better to keep the bike for as long as possible, when you know ur bike is STILL in tip-top condition... i want to buy a new one because this bike has become old and i wanted some taste of the newer technologies which are coming in new bikes...
and suppose i am selling her off for 12k, isnt it better to use her for like another 2-3yrs??

      • I know the position in which tintin is, infact even i am at the same place.

For me i can afford a brand new rtr today, but i don't want that bike, because its a TVS (I've used it enough) as well as because it has the same bore/stroke as my current bike.

Spending on the engine and making it better in performance is really worth it, but still it won't give you a brand new bike, the settings and tweaks and care you need to take of an older bike will always be there.
Plus the parts again turn expensive as well as difficult to source.

But i still don't think that going for (almost) the same engine after 8 years and 1 lac + kms would be really sensible.
Trust me, if you mod your fiero with an FZ's handlebar, rearsets as well as block and piston of 180, you can be ON PAR with the latest rtr's even on the corners as well as on the straights...

CBR is expensive (for buying right now) and just feels like a karizma, ZMA is still a 10 year old machine in terms of technology, and ZMR is not better (if not worse) than the ZMA.
R15 is an amazing bike, but still doesn't have the buy me buy me factor (atleast for me).
P220 is bajaj at the end.

So there's nothing much left to choose from.
I have decided to wait for the hyosung GT250, if the pricing is nice, I'll buy it when its launched.
But today, it really doesn't make sense to go for the rtr be with or without abs.
Giving a lot to a fiero.
Expecting a lot from a fiero.

Its time to sell the F2. Reason mentioned below.
As for reliability, Honda is the king there!

Instalment options to make your life easier.

i opted for the RTR180ABS, since i have ridden my friends 180RTRABS and also a nonABS version, they are really fast bikes, and it compares to a 200-220cc bikes... also i have seen that, a slim or hefty guy riding this bike, is always suited on the RTR...
The bike will be faster&zippier than your F2, but after 10-15K kms. you'll get used to the performance&will be asking for more, especially on the highways. I say this out of my experience with R15, which is even more powerful than RTR180.

and also this "TRUST" factor that has developed inside me for TVS products keeps me away from buying any other bikes other than TVS.. Dont know why?!?!
Variety is the spice of life my friend.

It would have been a wise decision a couple of years back. Now things are different-your bike is around the 1L mark&you will have to shell out on engine expenses soon. Think of it, it'll cost you almost the money it is worth considering other restorations come into effect. Moreover the bike is out of market since a long time&spares are not particularly easy to come by.
I was faced with the same situation when I was buying my R15.
I have a target of 75K kms. on my F2.
If things work out for me, I will even sell my R15, not just F2.
Don't get me wrong-everyone knows how much I love my bikes-I'm even getting them visually modded now for the jazz factor, but practicality should not be lost-they are machines after all, with a lifespan.

Think over what I have said calmly&discuss with others too. I'm sure you will not be totally satisfied with the RTR as an upgrade.

atthe first place i thought of the Bullet Classic 350. very nice bike, have seen aplenty in Pune. Price wise it is almost the same as compared to the New R15!! But the waiting period is sooo irritating!!! 9-10 months is not a joke!! My friend booked his classic 350 this jan and has not got the delivery of the bike even after waiting for 9 months!!! We asked the dealer about the status, and he says that the waiting period could extend to another month or 2!!!

I love this classic 350!! amazing machine and can easily live for a min of 15yrs!! but i dont have that patience to wait for 10 months!

Now this is what i call a proper Upgrade over your old bike!! (FieroF2 to Bullet Classic 350)....

Ahem! Though Bullets are not my cup of tea, 350cc is an upgrade, yes.
But definitely not RTR, get the point?

My Fiero is in a real bad shape, clutch plates, disc plate, drum liner, wheel bearings, front suspension, camchain all worn out&making noise.
Bike has no control&no brakes&wobbles all the time. No pickup, no mileage, overheating&now no mudguard&dome too!

I think it is still ok-mine was giving some 43kmpl before the clutch plates were worn out.
I wouldn't suggest you to mod the engine this soon-the stock engine lasts long, really long.

My bike's mudguard too got broke on saturday due to a minor mishap. It's a minor break near the flap part at the bottom. So hopefully will cut off a bit from the bottom part and drill a couple of holes to fit the flap(plastic) part.
Regarding the oil cooler fitting, yeah he has no idea how to fit it for now.

Well, the mech from ZEN ,Rajesh that is,he's become a busy man after opening the new garage and made a big deal of fitting the oil cooler, saying the bike needs to be left with him for 2 days at least!! When in truth it's a bolt on job, with some modifications done to the hose lengths. As SUZUKI have provided all the needed provisions to install a oil cooler. He's not the same guy he used to be when his garage was nothing more than a hole in the wall.
So it looks like the work has to be done with Mr Murthy's help at his new garage ,or to ask him the details and to get the work done at Satish's garage.
Mr Murthy's been busy and i haven't been able to meet him at his new garage as it's far now.So hopefully i will get the oil cooler installed within this week.

Yeah it's better to get all the work done at Satish's garage, because he's always ready to modify and he's a resourceful guy too.So in case of RTR bore kit installation ,it's better to get it done at satish's ,as it's a straight forward fit.
Life begins, once you hit the power band !!
