True. i dont think there is any crash guard for ZMR. indeed the ASC guys blabber something when we ask some other things, especially when we point out some faults in our bike.Originally posted by srikanth kvnap View Post

Ponit 3: So, Knees in danger... Have to deal with it in any other way.
And I still can't believe about the crash guard thing. These ASC guys don't know what they are talking... Happened to me many times.Agreed ! The ASC guys have such a stinking attitude. I felt the difference when i called them regarding the gear lever falling off. The sales guys seemed so much sweeter when in comparison.Originally posted by dineshaugustin View Postis it so...?? in V1 it protects the fairing....!! so i presumed in V2 also.!!
but anyhow, crash guard in a faired bike wont look good. but if iam not wrong, the handle bar itself acts as a crash guard in ZMR to some extent.
they would never neglect this safety issue while designing a bike, especially HERO.
Also, the dealer told me that they had a crash guard. I guess he was just blabbering. But i would have really liked to put in some frame slider. I am somehow not 100% convinced about the handle bar acting as a guard for the fairing. I may be wrong.
Regarding guards, i wanna purchase the knee guards and a good jacket with decent armour. Will look for it this weekend. I saw the "Cramster" store in bangalore, they have decent armour. The jacket is priced at around 5.6k.. dint check for the knee guards.

But to my surprise/shock as well, he very clearly said that they have a crash guard made for the ZMR. I will call him again and confirm this. I guess frame sliders are not possible as Dinesh mentioned. Also, Dinesh are you referring to the bar end weights? The fairing would break if the handle turns and the bike falls, which happens in most cases.I am 90% sure that idiot must be thinking about ZMA's crash guard/leg guard which can be fitted to new ZMA only.Originally posted by dineshaugustin View Postif you are referring to frame slider, then it is bit difficult to install in ZMR due to its simple frame construction. But for that matter of protecting fairing, ZMR has sliders on both end of handlebar....!!!!sigpic

Re: Hero Karizma ZMR (2014 version)
What happens in a situation like if the handle bar turns right and the bike falls to the left?? IMO I don't think the handle bar protects you.. The fairing takes the hit the engine gets protected while protecting your leg to some extent..Originally posted by dineshaugustin View Postis it so...?? in V1 it protects the fairing....!! so i presumed in V2 also.!!

Re: Hero Karizma ZMR (2014 version)
I noticed so many vehicles on the road today. Hero bikes including splendor and passion actually don't have crash guards big enough to protect the knees. Honda have perfect sized ones. Fazer is the safest bet among all. Even 220 has one...but boy-o-boy, ZMA has nothing!!! Ur legs protect the engine and also the fairing... I never noticed the small guard in my passion. I fell from it only once in 6 yrs because of worn out tyre on oil spil. Was not in high speeds hence got away with torn pant and a bruised knee which took a week to heal.Last edited by srikanth kvnap; 09-17-2014, 08:41 PM.

Anyhow.. I saw the new zma with 200ns' tyre hugger. When I had asked him if he made any modifications he said it was a direct fit.. It looked beautiful. Fat tyres and that hugger

nope. even then the cone will take the hit. same thing happened to my bike when it fell down (cant believe wind pushed my bike down ) in the same situation but only the cone got broken. no other damage, not even a hairline scratch. my bike is Hunk and iam pretty sure ZMR/A has even lengthier handlebar.Originally posted by kmk0311 View PostWhat happens in a situation like if the handle bar turns right and the bike falls to the left?? Frazer has crash guard in stock condition..?? i have seen guys fitted third party/custom guards, that too small when compared to Hunk. Hunk got the sturdy guard. it saved me from an accident. just escaped with a scratch on my palm though it greatly depends on how u fell.Originally posted by srikanth kvnap View PostI noticed so many vehicles on the road today. the guard doesn't need to be much lengthier, actually it is bit shorter than the handle bar. and as a safe design the handle bar/mirror should be the widest projection in a bike.Originally posted by srikanth kvnap View PostHero bikes including splendor and passion actually don't have crash guards big enough to protect the knees..

oh! I checked the images in google.... indeed Fazer doesn't have a stock crash guard... so, that explains the SAFEST BET part!!! thanx for the enlightenmentOriginally posted by dineshaugustin View PostFrazer has crash guard in stock condition..?? i have seen guys fitted third party/custom guards, that too small when compared to Hunk. By cone, you mean the cone set takes the damage? I'm still not convinced how..Originally posted by dineshaugustin View Postnope. even then the cone will take the hit. same thing happened to my bike when it fell down (cant believe wind pushed my bike down ) in the same situation but only the cone got broken. no other damage, not even a hairline scratch. my bike is Hunk and iam pretty sure ZMR/A has even lengthier handlebar.
But okay if you say so!! Yes zmr indeed has longer handlebars..
And when you ride against crosswinds, let the winds push you. But keep in mind what's adjacent to you. Don't try going in the opposite direction.. You'll greatly lose control. When I used to go against them, I was pushed very close to the rear tyres of a lorry
, after which I came home and read about how to tackle crosswinds, it got easier to ride .
Otherwise just stop for a while and then when the winds slow down resume your journey!!
Yes you can.Originally posted by srikanth kvnap View PostThat Can be used!!... sticker applied
Also that fellow ripped the bike. It was brand new. Unregistered. I felt so sorry for him.

actually i parked my bike in the parking area, concrete floor in side stand. day before yesterday there was a heavy wind and Rain. i left my bike perpendicular to wind direction. the wind toppled my bike to the otherside and it fell down.
BTW, thanks for the tip though..

^ use the main stand. Always safe
plus these monsoons are a pain in the ass. Water went inside my fuel tank. The bike refused to go past 5.5k rpm.. Had to get the fuel pump and tank cleaned after. Now its fine

So it means carb version is a better deal...??Originally posted by dineshaugustin View Postis it so..?? but i think it might be a rare case...!! how much did they charge you.?
in FZ it seems to clean the FI system we have to spend Rs. 2500 that too every 6000kms....!!!
A small analysis:
FZ carb version fuel cost per 6000kms = 6000/38(fuel efficiency)= 157 ltr x 70rs= 11052
FZ fuel injected version fuel cost per 6000kms = 6000/45(fuel efficiency)= 133 ltr x 70rs= 9333
Difference between their fuel cost= 11052-9333= 1718 where as FZ fi owner will pay 2500 after every 6000kms which means running cost of fuel injected FZ in real world will be more than carb version.
how much hero charge for cleaning ZMR's fi system...??sigpic

Re: Hero Karizma ZMR (2014 version)
my gear shfit problem almost solved after second service ,they changed something in warrantyOriginally posted by Divya Sharan View PostIn my case, it depends.
Gear 1 - half upshift to neutral = 50-60% success rate.
Gear 2 - half downshift to neutral = >90% success rate.
False neutrals = vary rare but most of the times I end up embarrassing myself because I so wanted to rev hard when there were chicks around and the damn thing would just go GHONNNNNNN and I'd stay where I was!
and HMC not change oil on this service is it k?
friend see my toothless exhaust this is normal?ASC guys told this normal due to heat
I'm KARIZMA rider
