Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Yes, I got that checked. When cold, the engine oil is thick. So it damps the sounds. When the engine heats up the oil gets thinner and the sound is prominent.Originally posted by truelypulsarian View PostThe sense of freedom these two wheels give can never be matched by anything else...

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
This is how my brake fluid reservoir looks(in center stand if that matters) exactly two months after purchase! I don't know for how long it has been like that but only recently started noticing loss of braking power on the front wheel.
Did I damage the disc braking system by any chance? What is the frequency to top up this brake fluid? Am I right to think that the SVC guys have to top it up for free(as it's not even two months since the vehicle was purchased).Owns a baby Gixxer starting Jan '15

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hello guys.. I am very much new for biking. I am going to buy a new bike in some 3 or 4 days. Very much confused between unicorn 160 and gixxer. As this is my first bike, I want it to run at least for 5 years with no heavy maintainance( at least for 2 years low maintainance).
I will be having a pillion most of the time. Is this bike comfortable for lady pillion.? Even if it is not comfortable, should not be dangerous.
My worry is mileage n reliability. Honda gives both . I think unicorn 160 gives 50+ mileage as I heard. But has understated styling. Gixxer has good styling but mileage n reliability is a matter of concern for me.I heard that gixxer is having FE of 35-40. Is this going to run for 5 years..with no trouble. Is this reliable.?
In this forum, there may be people who have clocked 10k+ kms. So please give a bit of advice on this..... N what is this rpm.? How to set it n why to set it..

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I had the same feeling when the indicator was not showing any fluid in the indicator....The Service Advisor said It is fine there is no need for refill as Brake Fluid will last upto 5k kms!...But i insisted him to open the brake fluid reservoir to confirm the same...When he opened i found the brake fluid was almost full!Originally posted by raintree View Post

If you are facing any loss of braking in disk brakes...Check the disk brakes for any oilly surface...if found,Wash it with Jet Spray of Water.....Later go for few kms and do some hard braking until the disk brakes get heated up!......(I had the total braking loss when i had applied WD-40 on the disk brakes to prevent rusting!....The above method solved the issue!)Last edited by rockin.pavanr; 03-16-2015, 11:43 AM.

It would be better if you posted your query in "What bike section". you will get more answers, pros and cons and good advice in that section rather than in ownership thread.
RPM stands for Rotations Per Minute. It is the number of rotations made by the crank shaft in one minute. When you twist the throttle the bike revs(makes zoom zoom sound) and the RPM rises. The engine makes a certain amount of power at certain RPMs. A high revving sports bike(CBR & R15) generate their maximum power at high RPMs, so they have to be revved to unleash their power, commuter bikes like splendor, discover etc make their max power at low to mid range RPM which makes them easy to ride in city traffic coz you dont have to revv them much.
You dont have to set the RPM you just have to make sure that the bike is at the correct rpm at every gear so the the engine doest not lag. Hope this helps.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Both the GS150R and Gixxer come factory filled with DOT4 brake oil - It is transparent and as of now, your master cylinder looks full - after the pads start to wear, you will notice a bubble and the level will start to slowly come down. Like Pavan said, wash the disc with soapy water and rinse thoroughly with plain water while rotating the front wheel - you may need to raise the front-end by holding on to the crash bar. Instead of topping it up, its best to replace the brake fluid every 2 years to prevent sludge formation. Oil on brake disc post servicing or touching it with oily hands (fingerprints) can reduce the bite/braking power. Anyway its a good practice to check the level and for any leaks at least every weekend as a casual inspection since your life hangs on this system.Originally posted by raintree View PostThis is how my brake fluid reservoir looks(in center stand if that matters) exactly two months after purchase! Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Thanks for your reply buddy.
I thought , it is better to get info.about bikes from people who own it is better than getting some vague info. from people who havent tried them. You took trouble to explain about rpm, could have said two words...
Nevertheless, thanks for your reply..I will make it out.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
It is definitely not comfortable for a lady pillion(saree clad). The split grab rail is also not very useful.Originally posted by Aryan_mi View PostIs this bike comfortable for lady pillion.? Even if it is not comfortable, should not be dangerous.

Sometimes I am having thoughts of selling my 4 month old Gixxer and go for Activa(for carrying groceries, helmet etc) and get my 10year old Unicorn repaired.
I used to ride a Unicorn and I am definitely missing comfort.
For Commuting go for Unicorn, for Fun and ride quality go for Gixxer.
