We started from Kochi at 6:45 am. My friend on RE Thunderbird 350 and me on my Suzuki Gixxer 155. We covered 210 kms approx (i.e., total 420 kms up and down). No pillion and no luggage.

About 100kms into the trip, the high ranges started. Though i had doubts, once the incline started, the tone and tenor of the bike changed and it was just gulping the hills...open the throttle and the bike leaps up.

Instead of sitting upright, one can slightly slide back and lean forward. (The seat is so designed that its like a bucket seat) The bike would surge forward and the 'push' is felt on the butts...

Climbing the hills has never been so easy. The tyres have more than sufficient grip and i have never felt more confident. By the time i reached 5500 MSL, the exhaust note of the bike changed to a muffled grunt...sweet!! It was as if the bike was craving for more...

I was riding mostly on 3rd and 4th gears...occasionally came down to 2nd...but the bike never felt under-powered.

Descenting the hills was the highlight of the trip. Descented mostly on 4th gear...the bike was precise at the bends and curves. Used both the front and back for breaking...there was a chiseling sound coming from the front disc, but went away after a few hard breakings.

Handling the bike was the best part. There are no vibrations felt on the handlebars. Rock solid.. It doesn't tire you.

I just leaned forward on the tank and let the bike roll down the hill... It was truly awesome.

The trip meter was very helpful, knew exactly how much the bike returned. Tried reserve to reserve method - the bike returned 53 kms/ltr approx.

The bike had completed 2nd service, but still I maintained the rpm below 4k and speed between 50-55. (Hence the mileage)

The only flip slide is the dirt splash from the front tyre. The dirt splashes on to the engine and also makes your boots dirty. Need to find a solution without affecting the looks.
Secondly, i wished the headlight could have been a bit brighter.

      Hope this helps you...
Wow. Awesome. I'm also planning to go for long trip from Chennai to tirupathi. Total 350 kms. Need to complete my 1st service.

U can do Teflon coat or clear coat for ur gixxer. S u can lube the chain but not without proper cleaning. Use chain cleaner spray. Then use ur brand new engine oil 10w-30 for mild lubrication.

Any one facing tappet noise when the engine is hot???
My bike is producing tappet noise after a continous ride in the traffic for some 10-15kms. Bike has completed 3k kms.

Could anyone tell me the purpose of the hole behind the rear brake lever? And also for the unconnected rubber tubes next to it?

I meant this. The hole i refer to is just behind the toe protector of the lever. The tube is also visible in the photo.

What is the rpm u set in ur bike. This will happen bcoz of low idiling. Also take ur bike to scv for further check.

The hole in the back wheel is for heat exhaust. Due to frequent braking the hub & brake shoe will become hot. Atmospheric air will cool the whole part while running.

The tubes u what u r talking about is for excess air from air filter- breather pipe ( bigger one) & carb drain hose ( smaller one).

I think you are right about the tubes because they come down from the air box under the seat.
You misunderstood the empty vent/hole I refer to. I don't mean the one in the back wheel on the brake drum, but the one behind the rear brake pedal. It's visible in the photo i have just posted.

Rpm is perfectly set to normal but i can hear the tapper noise especially while deaccelerating & in first 2 gears while accelerating.

The tube comes from the air-filter box. It is for draining the box incase water enters.

The noise is normal. It is coming from the heated timing chain crank wheel. Earlier, I was also worried about that ticking sound.
The sense of freedom these two wheels give can never be matched by anything else...

R u sure that the noise is coming from the timing chain? did u ask the svc people about that sound while the engine is hot?

Just try this. After warming ur bike's engine drive ur bike in 2nd or 3rd gear with maximum acceleration but less than 4.5k rpm. I mean hard rev. U can feel the smoothness with beat from exhaust as soon as u stop the throttle. Then drive normally till ur halt. If this won't work inform scv. Nothing to worry.
