Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I don't think that is also correct bcz mine is F 8..it means Aug 2015 as per ur calculations. Which is also incorrect.Originally posted by radikel View PostSuspension is not the right place to check...that is just serial code for the part.
The number to check is the chassis. No on the front fork...
Posted this a while back. The 15 16 digits show the month/year of manufacture...
Mine had E and 8 or something..meaning August 2014...
There is a specific code to decode the VIN

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
that was me! I did a 120 km run the other day with a pillion and the overall climb was some 1450 metres above sea level. For most part of the journey the Gixxer did well. Handling was good. I didn't have any issues taking the hairpin bends with a pillion in almost pitch darkness. For most part of the climb I was on gears 3 and 4. But the last 2 or 3 kilometres towards the top, the bike refused to climb in 3rd gear. I had to downshift to 2nd for a while. Our combined weight should have been around 140 to 160 kgs. It never stopped at any point but I felt it should be able to go all the way up in 3rd gear.Originally posted by rev View PostI stand corrected. Without pillion the bike gulps up the hills .....
Did a 400kms ride to munnar... The bike was 'well behaved'. It gives to full confidence while approaching and departing the bends. Its precise and in total control. The tone and tenor of the bike changes as it climbs higher. I was on 4th and 5th gears mostly and sometimes came down to 3rd. The sweetness of the exhaust changes to muffled grunts...which is sweeter!!!
Some one asked how the bike is while climbing hill...well this i can assure:
Coming downhill was super fun without a pillion. Switched off engine and used just the brakes.Owns a baby Gixxer starting Jan '15

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Not advisable at all! Going downhill in neutral is not safe. You need to use engine braking plus brakes for a safe downhill ride.Originally posted by raintree View Post..... Coming downhill was super fun without a pillion. Switched off engine and used just the brakes.
Using the brakes alone will cause brakes to loose bite due to heat after a while and you know the result.
Hope you are aware of this, but just thought of mentioning.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
True but I knew what I was doing! I wasn't brake riding. Instead used the brakes sparingly when I had to take the hairpin bends when going downhill. If I had the slightest hint that I was loosing braking power I would have touched the self starter. No compromises on safetyOriginally posted by SatSon View PostNot advisable at all! Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Everything else looks identical to our naked Gixxer except the chrome finish on the twin silencer(finish looks more like the new FZ-S v2 silencer) and the indicator lights which are white with orange bulbs on this faired version!Originally posted by rockin.pavanr View PostSuzuki Gixxer Full Fairing is known as Suzuki Gixxer SLK not Suzuki Gixxer GSX-150R

Good to know that you consider safety while ridingOriginally posted by raintree View PostTrue but I knew what I was doing! I wasn't brake riding. But still suggest you going downhill in gears. It is also better for bike (less wear and tear for brakes)

I know that's not the manufacturing date of bike but that's the only date which is exposed to user and of course manufacturing date is always greater than that.
