Yes the Gixxer comes home and definitely enjoying it

Some good samaritan came and saw my Two month Old White Suzuki Swish on 01-May-2015 evening.
Offered me the price, paid in cash and rode the vehicle away.

Had a brief discussion with the Home Minister and worked out the funds and vehicle colour.
Next day went to the Suzuki Showroom and paid the amount and picked the Gixxer on 02-May-2015.
Transferred 93000 INR on road including Crash Guard, Polishing et all.

Yes my first Non White vehicle after a very long time and really enjoying the Ride.
Feels really at home and the throttle response is extremely addictive.

    Congratulations!
Yes, the bike is really addictive. Wait till you finish the service quota and take the bike on the highways.
Once the engine fully warms up, it really finds another level.

      Quick question. Slightly off topic..
Does it feel odd to ride in the city with armoured jacket and gloves.
I use mine only for highways, can't help but feel like a clown with those on in the city?

I will let Satyajit answer, personally I wear my gloves (and obviously the head gear) even in the city.

Brother Radikel, pardon my ignorance since I am not aware of your age.
But Dneel & myself are Old enough to be Uncle in this forum since we are in mid thirties.

Small anecdote for the importance of Riding Gears

Rewind back to 11-Apr-2012 around 07:00 PM started from my IBM Office to Home in Kolkata.
Remember the date & time since there was an IPL T20 Match between Royals & Mumbai.
Needless to say I am a big fan of Rahul & Sachin as well.
Normal time for return journey would be 40 minutes hence no need to rush back home....

But before this day it rained Three Days consecutive with heavy thunderstorm.
Trees & Electric poles got uprooted and so on.

Travelling around 35 kmph max in Third Gear and took a bread and butter left turn on ZMR.
And voila, THUDDD on my left without any indication on a moderately lit road with sparse traffic.

Helmet on my left got hit and a small stone hit my chest.
God is gracious, nothing happened. Jacket bears the mark till date.
Pinched hard myself to understand whether I was sleeping.

Stopped there for some time and took some rest and a fag in the adjoining Tea shop.
Shop owner informed that I am fourth person to fall that evening turning Left.
Struck me and then had a inspection of the road and found a Thick Black Cable on the Road which is invisible.
There is a particular instance when both Tyres could be on the Cable and invariably this will be a consequence.
And will happen to people taking Left Turn and not Right Turn.
Took the pain of shifting it to a different position to help other Bikers.
Life teaches you lot of small things.

Could have been really worse without gears since there was No Reaction Time which is crucial.
But that does not mean that you are safe with gears and ride rash.
Prevention is always better than cure and for Bikers it is the momentum that causes the injury more.

              Happy & Safe Riding, Cheers!!!

NOTE: My Shift Triton Riding Jacket works as a rain protective gear as well

XL Front Mud flap is available in all spare shop, i tried to fix my dukes hugger but it requires bracket to be welded to swing arm as well as some modification to the hugger itself.
but these huggers are not that great for protection from mud splash on bike.

Instead we can fix engine guard ( a thin metal sheet with 2 clamps ) though it looks awkward but full protection for engine from mud splash.

Not good. It reduces engine cooling. For splash protection, try mods in front mudguard only.

What's the running life of a brand new can of mineral oil before it needs replacement?

I just crossed 1000 kms after my first service and all the issues I had pre-first service like hard gear shifts, low pickup, engine running rough is back again. All of these disappeared immediately after first service when engine oil was replaced along with the oil filter.

I have also checked the air filter and there is nothing that blocks air flow.

i thought of making a bash plate too but the header pipe comes in the middle so that too was not possible, so i settled with a flap. and never obstruct air to the header area as our bikes are air cooled.

Mineral oil will last for some 2000 to 2500 kms depending upon the riding style. during summer we can use 20w50 grade oil to reduce roughness to an extent.

Since the engine is new, may be few months old. I always suggest you to replace the oil every 2k kms.

I think the engine guard won't affect that much. Yes it'll divert the air upwards but there will be more air circulation behind the guard. This is more than sufficient for cooling the engine.

Not really. It may be ok for low cc bikes like splendors but for gixxer I wouldn't recommend it. The guard would actually prevent effective cooling of engine oil and silencer header. Moreover, improper air flow could cause silencer pipe heat to circulate within the area causing excessive heating.. Best bet would be to increase mudguard length.
