  • Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155

My Odo reads 7708 kms now. I have narrowed down my search for Engine oil to Motul - 7100 20W40 or Shell Ultra Advance 20W40 . Suggestions and recommendations are welcome. Hoping that directly switching from Mineral to Fully-Synthetic oil has no adverse implications.

Bought 3M's Chain cleaner and it works just fine as Motul Chain Cleaner which I previously owned. Amazon sells it.

I noticed sticky grease near Engine head during bike wash. Took my Bike to SVC, the valves were replaced, costed INR 43.

Riders, please be careful, Gixxer's engine's oil capacity is 950 ml when oil filter is changed/ 850ml when oil filter is not changed. Please ensure that SVC mechanic doesn't pour the entire 1L. The valve problem can be attributed to it which I found after riding nearly 1500 kms.

It is surprising but please advisee them on:

    - Not use mobil/engine oil to lubricate chain
    - Use correct measure of engine oil
    - CO testing and RPM setting during every service

Often I have observed that SVC guys are negligent on above pointers.

    Cheers!

Suzuki Gixxer costs around 93K @ Kolkata; at 2K more I can get an FZ with FI, and with even 2k more I can get a FZ-S. Do I do justice if I buy Gixxer? And even when Apache 200 is out in the market, should I have a look at it too?

Earlier it was being sold @ 87K, now it is quite expensive, may be because Kolkata does not have much dealer options.
Besides, inspite of being better in almost every aspect than FZ, I dont think the VFM still does work- specially when FZ at the above price comes with the FI version.

Besides, I have been associated with another yamaha bike, the service guys are really awesome; I dont think that kind of trust I can place to any other Services. Please someone share one's SVC exp in and around Kolkata.

      Thanks

Wait for TVS Apache 200. Don't be in hurry because apache will be under 1 lac.

During 3rd service the engine oil was changed from Motul 10W40 to Suzuki oil manufactured by Idemitsu (10W40). Now it feels like the engine is running hotter than earlier. Is this normal? Can anyone shed some light on the drain interval of this engine oil by Idemitsu?
As far as I remember, the second service is @3500 km. How come you've had three services in 2500 kms ?

Well from my experience Motul 7100 10w40 is best for gixxer. Gear shifts, in gar acceleration, cruising ability, keeping engine cool are the good traits of this oil when compared to others. I switched to 7100 when i completed 5K KM.Till now I have clocked 13K KM and very less oil change interval. 7100 easily lasts for 4K KM in highway rides. Might be more when driven sanely. So give it a try
