First 1000kms you'll have mineral oil so bike will heat up a lot. Not to worry it will get better after first service. I completed 2k kms recently and I can notice the difference after first service. If you still feel the bike heats up a lot you can change coolant to Engine Ice.

Heating in traffic is normal can't do anything about that.

I haven't changed to Engine Ice because I haven't faced any excessive heating issues after first servicing but I read on this thread a few people have changed to Engine Ice.

Does anybody feel any knocking sensation when riding below 20km/h on 2 gear??Is it normal??SC Guys suggest me to ride on 1st gear when speed is below 20km/h.Actually I have upgraded from R15 V1 .There was no such prob with R15.

Yeah happens with all bikes, nothing wrong with it. You can change at 20kmph to 2nd gear if you plan on increasing your speed, if you're going to stay in the 20-25 kmph range, stay in first gear.

'knocking' would be the wrong term to use. you are rather 'lugging' the engine i.e. higher gear slow speed.
each motorcycle is different when it comes to gearing i.e. gear ratios (and well capacity, power etc too when you compare a 150 vs a 373 cc) and on the 390 as your svc suggested stay in first gear if you want to keep it under 20kmph.
As for the heat, PLEASE do not call it over heating.. that's how hot a 390 will be and eventually you might get used to it. The current summer isn't helping one bit so yes you will feel more discomfort. The stock coolant does a pretty good job. Just make sure the fan is running and if you notice the temp bars going in to top most segment on the console and the fan not running, then you need to get it checked at the svc for a failed fan or coolant temp sensor.

You can hold the clutch if you're driving below 15-18kmph on 2nd gear or drive on 1st gear till 20.

Also silly question for everyone else but I've heard driving at a high gear and low speed gives better mileage? Is this only for cars I drive at 60-70 sometimes on 6th gear.

Hello everyone. I have a question. [emoji16]
Does my RC (2015 model) has a 320mm disc brake at the front? Or 300mm?
Thanking you in advance.
Aman

Well it isn't high gear and low speed but just low rpm
Well it gives better mileage but that doesn't mean you keep lugging the engine for better mileage cause that'll do more harm

For those you want better mileage drive your bike in 3.5-5 rpm range

I'd like to add to this reply by point out that it's the gear to rpm relation that matters, not gear to speed. This is an answer I have given so many times to the friends who complain about "knocking" in 2nd gear while taking bumps. What most people don't see is that in second gear, the bike is doing ~15 kmph at an RPM very close to idle. The engine simply does not have the power at that RPM to smoothly drive the weight of the bike and the rider. I haven't owed an R15 and hence don't know the exact RPM in 2nd gear at which it does 20 kmph, but it most definitely won't be near the idle. Forgive me if my assumption in wrong.
Plus, bigger bike are faster not because of producing more power, but because of the taller gearing afforded by the more power/torque or a higher Rev ceilings. So a 390 under run in won't be comfortable below 20kmph in 2nd gear. Post run in you can ride at around 15 with a little clutch slipping, but that is only if you have to as in the case lf really hot traffic with the fan running or something.
s1d I'm not correcting your answer in any way, merely adding some more detail that might help someone understand the whole "bigger bike" concept a little better. Your answer in itself is spot on to begin with. And I too would love to see people stop referring to the normal 390 heating as "overheating", but doubt that it will ever come to fruit. 😂
Must ride on!
