Guys go easy on him. Sharma Ji : May be you shouldnt have posted your age. Guys here are just worried because we could see how school kids are riding their powerful bikes in cities rashly, ignoring everyone's safety. If you cannot resist buying a 200 cc bike then be responsible. "With power comes great responsibility". Get good safety gears and ride safe.

Our members have given you the right advice. I hope you won't take offence to the same, we all want good for everyone who wants to learn!

But there is one major hurdle in front of you - Age! If you're caught riding without a valid DL, which you won't get before you turn 18; your parents will be booked by law.
Street racing, throttling, speeding etc aside, I'd request you (and your parents, if they somehow read this post) to get you a scooter for the time being so that you learn the nuances of riding. By the time you turn 18 you'd have decent enough experience to handle yourself without losing it in the mad traffic conditions that prevail.

Secondly, you mentioned long distance riding. Ensure you get a good quality helmet and basic riding gear BEFORE you buy the bike. That will go a long way in keeping you (relatively) safe.
Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
Because everyone who passes, isn't a martyr!

Thanks a lot brothers
I understand why you all are suggesting me all this.
It's for my welfare, you all have no fun in advising me but you are still advising me for my better future. And I respect you all for your suggestions and also thank you by heart.
And rest for fast driving I do it rarely and that also on an empty road.
And please forgive me if I have said anything wrong to anyone of you.

Hey guys,
I am thinking to drop the idea of this bike and replace my old activa with a new one.
But will stay in the thread.
Thanks to everyone for their respected suggestions.
If i have said anything wrong to anyone please forgive me.

That's a very wise decision. You've shown you can be mature no matter what age.

I hope you have many happy miles on your Activa and also on any other bike that you decide to buy. Be safe and have a good one buddy.

Current ODO meter reading is 260 KM. However now I come across the fact that 'general rule is try to stay below 4k to first service'. Assist me in getting out of this dilemma. This bike is already a cause of botheration and I do not want to end up frying its engine .

For any bike, real running in period is below 1/3 rd of the redline rpm... Eg, if 9.5k is redline for rs200 then 3.2k is the ideal rpm limit for first 500 km... Then comes the second phase where u can maintain till 1/2 of redline rpm... Ie 4.5k to 4.7k rpm for RS200... This has to be till ur total of 2000km in odo... After that gradually increase rpm by 1000 rpm for every 200 km till u reach the redline... Also stick with mineral oil for atleast 10k kms... Mandatory oil change for first service and then every 2000km as it is mineral oil...

In this calculation speed doesn't matter as it depends on various other factors like inclination, declination, wind speed, stopping force, centre of gravity, equilibrium, blah blah blah... Also same rpm can give u two different speeds based on environment... For best running in always change gears from 3.5 to 4.5 k rpm for fuel efficient bike... By the way, bajaj claims RS200 with 54kmpl and I'm getting 51.5 km per litre in rs200 constantly after very sane driving as above... Till now I have done 2k kms in my bike and just out of running in period...

The above just my exp with RS200 with no issues yet... May be my love for my bike is too much caring to give any issues...

Today was probably the worst day of my life.. I crashed into a trishaw that took a U-Turn infront of another one that had stopped in the middle of the road in an instant... Anyways, I hit my brakes as hard as I could but I hadn't enough time to drop my gears. And the worst part was that the brakes didn't respond at all (Prolly about 50% of unresponsiveness) since I got the bike out of the 3rd full service last evening and I took it out for a commute just today. There weren't any serious damages or injuries and I'm lucky to have NOT dropped my bike (I tip toe on the bike lol). BUT I BROKE MY SIDE MIRROR THOUGH.. BAH. I did not file a claim since my friend suggested that I shouldn't. Anyways, I asked the company for a replacement and they told me it costs 2,440LKR which is about 1,150 Indian Rupee? That's outrageous! For a single side mirror?! God damn. Anyhow, I figured the best scenario would be to weld the bits together and repaint it, and I did which cost me 400LKR in total. The paintjob and the weld weren't the greatest but it did get the job done.. at least til I can get everything done proper. I didn't take any pictures of the weld and so on but I do have a couple of the broken side mirror. lol..

Ride safe from the morons on the road guys..

95% of my riding is on highways n im getting 38-39kmpl
Try to calculate by full tank to tank method..

For ur info, I'm calculating tank to tank only... No fuel bar to full fuel bars, 10 litres and getting 515 kms... As I mentioned above the right gears, tyre air pressure and rpm matters... And by the way, I wish I had a paddock stand but unfortunately not... Lol...

3.5k RPM at 6th gear is jus like squeezing its neck!!!

Lugging the engine is just as bad as redlining it out of the showroom. Ride like you normally ride without worrying too much about the RPMs. Keep varying it with smooth throttling.

I didn't follow the traditional run in and my engine's just fine.

Im happy that ur engine is fine... As far as my bike concerned, In bajaj manual it says, do run in at 48kmph for first 500 km and 54kmph for next 1500 km... And I achieve the 48 km mark at 3.5k rpm and 54 at 3.7k rpm at 6th gear... So I guess it's normal and not lugging... I hope we are not too smart than manual atleast for run in instructions... Also by doing the above, I got maximum fuel efficient and I'm very happy with it... May be I came from discover and so considering kitna dethi hein a lot...

Completed my run in and this morning drove till 5.5k rpm to reach 75kmph constantly for a ride of 130kms and the feel is awesome... She goes so smooth and tireless...
