Good day to everyone, I got my RS200 Demon Black variant delivered on 25th of this month, run 120kms till now. I have been following this thread from Sunday, although I did read all the pages, I was in a hurry to read all of them quickly so might have skipped some important points. I know all of you have told already how to run in a new engine with regard to your experience, it would be helpful if you can tell what kind of response you have got with your kind of run-in.

Now coming to how I have been running the engine:-
Changing gears frequently in city traffic, mostly staying at and under 4k. Highest I have taken the bike is up-to 69kmph only to let the engine get used to higher rpms too slowly.

The minor niggles I have faced till now:-
    1. The infamous thud sound has been heard only once till now when I took a moderate sized bump on road at about 25kmph.
    2. Sometimes while downshifting the gears dont respond and I have to upshift and then downshift again.
3.The second time I took my bike out for night I noticed that the end of Low Beam light spread gives a bluish kind of effect on the edges(yellow followed by faint bluish at edges).
4.As for vibrations I have felt them really less as I seldom cross 4k rpm. But I did experience twice or thrice. Although engine breaking is evident.

Can members from Hyderabad suggest a service center with which they have had positive experience, Since the default showroom service center guys seem inefficient as the main mechanic couldn't even show me the level of coolant. And yes how do I see the coolant level? It is not visible at all. I mean unlike the duke, The color isn't visible to judge easily.

Even I am in the same condition, this 'running in period' is eating my head. Some website says break it hard, but I stick it to manual.

I get vibration on foot pegs. When the engine is cold gear shifting is smooth as soon as getting heated up gears shifting becoming bit hard. Also getting 'Thud' sound from front if I hit potholes. Do you have these types of issues?
Regarding your concerns, I too get vibrations in the band 4300-4800 rpm. Gear shifting is relatively same if the bike is cold or heated up. I seldom have issues while locating neutral.

I haven't realized the 'Thud's sound so far because I try to slow down to around 20 KMPH while approaching a hump.

Then comes the second phase where u can maintain till 1/2 of redline rpm... Ie 4.5k to 4.7k rpm for RS200... This has to be till ur total of 2000km in odo... After that gradually increase rpm by 1000 rpm for every 200 km till u reach the redline... Also stick with mineral oil for atleast 10k kms... Mandatory oil change for first service and then every 2000km as it is mineral oil...

In this calculation speed doesn't matter as it depends on various other factors like inclination, declination, wind speed, stopping force, centre of gravity, equilibrium, blah blah blah... Also same rpm can give u two different speeds based on environment... For best running in always change gears from 3.5 to 4.5 k rpm for fuel efficient bike... By the way, bajaj claims RS200 with 54kmpl and I'm getting 51.5 km per litre in rs200 constantly after very sane driving as above... Till now I have done 2k kms in my bike and just out of running in period...

The above just my exp with RS200 with no issues yet... May be my love for my bike is too much caring to give any issues...
Going by the practice that you have adopted, it seems that I have already caused irreparable damage to the engine . Not sure even if I revert back to around 3.5K rpm levels till first service, it would make any difference.

Also regarding the mileage I had got tank full when the delivery was taken and after 270 KM there are only 3 bars left on fuel indicator. Even if I be over optimistic, the bike wouldn't cross 400 KM before the tanks goes try. This translates to 31-32 KMPL as mileage.

        I have the same issues.
Thud sound from the front (not always)
Gear shifting totally different ( If I go single little bit hard, but with pillion feeling very hard then I need rev more and shift the gear)
Blueish color on low beam ( I dont consider this one as an issue)
        Foot peg vibration is there.

The coolant level is very hard to see. We have to find the solution to check the level.

I am maintaning speed limit 52kmph. First service done at 500kms. No major difference in smoothness.

I too don't think the blueish color is really an issue, but slightly worried that the improper wash by the service center guys might be the reason for this, since I see no cars or bike headlamps giving this kind of effect, or maybe it's the projectors themselves.
I did get vibrations from right thigh area once a while bit very rarely, not much from footpegs.
Can you please give the split of your first service bill, and it would be helpful if you could give some pointers on what to look out for while giving the bike for service.

Has anyone tried leaving the bike idle for 4 or 5 days and then try starting and riding?

There is a strange sound which comes for 1 odd km and then vanishes. Not of FI- FYI.

I have a friend who has a black RS 200. We kept his bike in storage for a month. We took out all the fuel and disconnected the battery.

It started the first time we cranked it after some 30 days without a problem. It has been smooth sailing for him since.

Could you describe the sound and also what part of the bike it comes from?

For this just use your phones flash and stick it on the coolant container

It would light it up and you can easily see the green coolant inside

For more visibility just remove the coolant container cap(the place from where u put the coolant in) and put the torch or flash on it so the beam of light directly goes in the container

Been doing this on my RC

Will post the pic for easier understanding when I get home from school

I've tried a similar trick but had no luck.

Will try your method now. Thanks for sharing!

Try to do it in a low light place for better view

And play around with the position of the torch until u find the sweet spot
