      Hi guys,

Been pretty busy riding around with my new beast! Done a short road trip couple of days back and was pretty impressed with the bike.

      1. The ABS works perfect. Tried hard braking to skid and nada, no skidding, and a damn good stopping distance. That was the main pointer for me!!
      2. Riding under run-in conditions held back in the speed department but that was ok. Smooth engine and a brilliant exhaust note to go with it!
      3. Clutch lever was hard but I was informed by the SVC that it would take a while to soften up. If it doesn't by 2nd servicing, will probably go for an adjustable lever.
      4. Rode it a bit in the rains and the wet grip is pretty darn good! Not yet had the courage to test it further as apprehensions from owning a CBR250 still lingers.
      5. Got back a pretty decent mileage of 18kmpl for the whole trip! Was pretty happy with that as SVC said it should give me 15 before the 1st service.
      6. Fuel indicator is totally screwed up. Indicated I had almost half a tank left when in fact it had just 4 litres of fuel in it!
      7. Riding position and weight of the bike, is different from my previous CBR, so just have to get used to this. At least the position allows for excellent handling especially in traffic!

All in all, pretty happy with the bike on all counts. Minor issues but then again that's something that's always around for every bike.

Great News !! Congo!!!!! Fuel indicators are generally erratic on bikes I think . The Fuel meter works good till the time the petrol is good enoughin the tank once it get emptier I think the roll and pitch of the bike keep screwing the sensor which measure the Petrol in tank.. Just a thought

Thanks dvsingh14!. I understand what you mean with indicators being erratic. But that's supposed to happen only if the bike is on an incline or a lean. But when vertical it should give a good approximate!! My CBR fuel indicator was bang on when vertical.

For eg. During the bike trip, on a full tank with all bars full, after about 80km, the fuel still indicated full tank!!! That's already over 4 litres down (25%). A bar should have disappeared. Then when it indicated half tank, I filled in 11 litres of fuel to full tank!! That's almost 75% empty. Thankfully, I did notice that the last few bars disappear pretty quickly indicating I do know when it's about to get empty. But on a road trip this leads to complications.

True.... thats horrible... Even on my ZMR that last 2-3 bars go quick... but tilll then its ok ok.... I think after some time you will get use to it ..

But yeah why to put a thing just for the sake of putting it.. half knowledge is more deadly then none...

To be Frank, it's up to you as you would know best what you would like to have. Both bikes are almost equal. The biggest difference is the 2 cylinder Versys and 4 cylinger 600GT. Rest are all minor.

I was in a similar situation as you as I had an option between the TNT600i and the ER-6n. For me, the ER-6n just wouldn't cut it after hearing the exhaust note of the Benelli. I know it costs a bit more but that's what I wanted in the end. But that was my line of thought and yours may differ.

If I was in your situation I would wait for the 600GT ABS to come out. I know the wait is killing but in the end it is worth the wait! I waited over a good 6 months for the ABS to come out and in the end it was worth it!

You may never know, they might just come out with the bike before the end of the year. The 600i ABS wasn't expected till about August but came out 2 months earlier!

What is happening my biker brothas ----- I know I've been a little quiet here these past couple of weeks. Been doing some running around for the bike docs/insurance/emi/loan blah blah etc. etc.

BTW, the first promised date has been broken by DSK Should have had it today but after speaking to the person who actually knows something about the bikes -- He mentioned that around 26th/27th I should get it.
Keeping my fingers crossed, hopefully they dont delay anymore & I won't be making any more plans until I get the call from the showroom saying that Yess Sir your bike is here. It's funny these guys, when they have to explain to the customers that their respective bike is not there -- doesn't look like they know what they are saying or they sound like they have by-hearted that sh*t and telling us.

This one lady for example "Sir, we have the red and black 600 abs already here and ready" [ME]--- "Okay but I have booked and already paid for a WHITE ABS??"
[LADY]-----"Yes sir, white is yet to come, the 300s are also here and ready" ------ uhhhh like what is the point of this conversation [ME]----"Okay madam I am talking about my WHITE bike, when will I get it??? You guys promised 3-4 days after full payment you will get the bike and now again you all are extending the date"

To which she smiled and said "Sorry Sir", was when I caught another guy who has all this info and pressured him a bit about my bike. He said sir bikes haven't been dispatched yet, the kits are coming, it has to be assembled, that, this and some more blah blah finally he said Sir 27th you should have it.
Honestly, its tiring to hear all the BS from these guys, so annoying.

Hey so if any of you guys here would be kind enough to draw up a list of things to check when taking delivery of the bike then that would be a bigg help. I have a generic list in my head but was wondering if I missed out on some things. Would gladly appreciate any valuable input.

I will retreat back to my wait for now.

Nope it wont work that easily.. Dont go with just what svc guys say. you take my word, even if you fill the tank 1-2 inches below that brim (cap thing), it'll still spill on the bike frame, the moment you put your bike on side stand it'll pee. and you never wanna take chances with fuel dripping on hot metal frame.

It is my suggestion and humble request to you and everyone here to get a small hose/pipe connected to that little drain outlet and let the fuel drop on ground. I accept the fact that spilling fuel on road is also dangerous, but atleassst it'll save you and your bike in hot conditions (never know worst cases).

Sanket I think this issue should have been taken care in newer ABS versions but it's not and it can cause some serious problems because it's a 600cc engine, it will heat up and petrol spilling on hot frame is a direct invitation to a disaster.

I think both have a character of there own.. I also fell in love after hearing the sound of inline 4 ... I am waiting for ABS from last 7 months now but after the email from company I feel it will be coming next year most prob. SO i started looking around ..... VERSYS......

ABS, adjustable showa suspension, 20mm more GC are some interesting plus from GT but woth a premium of 1.2 Lakhs with panniers. I test rode GT many times but yesterday I got my test ride on versys after paying 50K booking amount ... but in first 2 minutes I realized this is premium and boy o boy super silky smooth.... the sound is not great as GT but not bad at all.

I think my requirement are pure touring to unknowns ... versys is ticking more right boxes then GT right now. I wish the ABS would have come out ... To be honest in may I went to SC with money to book GT as I didnt knew ABS is only coming on 600i ..

This is last week for me to final.. Going on a long trip for 4 days with be soul searching in Himalayas and hopefully come back with right answer

                            Cheers!!!

Dont compromise. . all there is to say. Keep your belly stable and wait it out.. . else you will spend on a versys 650, and then whenever you see a 600GT ABS you will have that guilt or an inferiority in the back of your head. . . get EXACTLY what YOU WANT!
