Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Theres no best body cover for sf availaible online. All 3rd party local brand amd these are unable to cover the Lower portion of the bike. Just see the reviews n make your choice if willing to purchase one online or get one from showroom.Originally posted by Flash@211 View Postyes, it seems he is sad ha ha btw can u suggest me a good bike cover coz i live in a dusty town and i won't be riding it daily

Lube: Use Motul C2 chain cleaner for chain lubrication.
If bike washed n chain cleaned from showroom, apply the lube one rotation of chain
If you want to clean chain yourself, use brush n kerosine to clean by keeping bike at centrestand and brush thoroughly with kerosine and leave it for 15-20 mins. Then, clean the chain with a cloth by grabbing the chain from below with cloth in hand and rotating the wheel woth the other. Compressed air, if availaible can be used to clean.
After cleaning, start and put on 1st gear. Caution, the wheel rotates. Spray motul c2 chain lube one rotation of chain (follow the yellow mark on chain).
Lubing interval : 500 kms
Some use motul c1 chain cleaner or other brand cleaner for cleaning. Kerosine is an alternative.
! Don't use diesel for clraning.
If confused, check youtube vids for cleaning n lubing.
Break-in short version: Donot cross 4500 RPM on ur ODOMETER during first 1500 kms. After that donot cross 5500 RPM next 1500 kms. Donot stress your throttle. Throttle up gradually during the break-in period. Drive in all gears and do not stress in a single gear for long time. After then yo can run the bike in high rpm's.
This breakin may seem to take the fun away in driving the bike. But it keeps the engine healthy n powerful in the long run.
There are many break-in ideas from other owners too.

Welcome 2nd Generation Gixxer SF brother xD. Have fun with your ride and ride safe.Originally posted by Flash@211 View PostThere u go.

So here is a proposal to the moderators from my end. Won't it be better to merge the Gixxer and Gixxer SF threads? Both of these bikes share everything except the fairing. I think its best not to fragment the discussions/ problems and support. The only thing that might be worth separating is the FI variant from the carb ones.Suzuki Gixxer SF Rear Disc + Carburettor Red (28th October, 2016-Present),

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Usefull info for all gixxer owners. Infact for all bike owners.
I have been cleaning and lubing my chain using diesel and Autofox chain lube at regular intervals without fail. I used always used to monitor my chains and sprockets once every 2 days. Hence the chains and the rear sprockets used to look perfect and well lubed.
But one fine day the chain link got out when i was riding in highway. Then after showing to the nearby mechanic he put another o ring chain link and joined the chains. Then the problem became worse. There came a sound "Kadak Kadak" from the front sprockets. When riding at low speeds and the same sound would reduce at high speeds.
Then went to the Service center for inspection they checked and told the sprockets are week and needs to be replaced. (16,340 km in the odo meter). The charges would be around 2000rs they told.
Then I came home with questions. Why did this happen inspite of regular clean and lube of chains. Then i noticed the front sprockets by removing the front sprocket cover and saw they were worn out. The cover was covered with lubes and sand.
So you guys should keep in mind that whenever you clean and lube your chain remember to remove the front sprocket cover and clean both sprockets and chain for 100% completion.
After which I replaced the sprockets kit along with chain set. Bought it from SMK suzuki, chennai for 1469rs. (Front & Rear sprockets along with chain). Gave it to a nearby local mechanic and got it fixed for 200rs as labour charge. So total 1700rs for the whole process. Attached pictures for ur reference. Stay happy Ride Happy. Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Bro use kerosine instead of diesel. I know this has nothing to do with the prob yo faced, but diesel is not recommended for chain sprocket cleaning. Kerosine is more viscous and good cleaning agent.Originally posted by Sushil1991 View PostUsefull info for all gixxer owners. Infact for all bike owners.
