Please can you tell me basic rules of maintenance for this bike?

Firstly welcome to the family !!
I hope you got the manual book too so depending upon the odo refer to page 6-4 of the booklet and ask the owner accordingly if he had done maintenance according to the manual or not.
Also check oil level and air filter if they need to be changed or not but i will recommend to change it along with oil filter.
Do check for proper tyre pressure in both wheels ie 29 psi for front and 33psi for rear !!

The Bike has ran 19k kms, had wiring of all hind lights at tail snatched at by the rats and oil was leaking from left magneto side engine panel.

I have replaced the wiring at a local mechanic for 150 INR. The gasket/packing was the cause of leakage in the left panel, the mechanic was instructed that only apply adhesives like anabond and seal the oil leakage, but he ardently tore the packing, and as expectedly it is not available at local shops. Had to go to SVC for the same. The person who gave me the packing was saying that this is problem of all gixxers, each and every gixxer faces it and still Suzuki does not provide sufficient amt of gasket for this chronic issue.

The gasket/packing was available for 48 INR and the cashier took 50 INR with no outer package. The lights and oil leakage was resolved for 250 INR and it was ready for my daily rides. Average before touching the carb, is around 44 kmpl

I liked gixxer mirrors when buying, but they seem to be useless in traffic or difficult to adjust, and yes, right side mirror is loose. Change of mirror is essential.

This Weekend , I will do following things:-

1) Change oil (Mineral) 20W40, Yes, I know it is 10W40, but there is no temperature below 10C in pune why I should buy one with least value of 10C?
2) Replace Oil filter
3) Clean Air Filter
4) Replace the rear mirror with HH Glamour Blue color ones (250 INR for a Set)
5) Reduce Idling to 1000 instead of 1500 rpms
6) Spark Plug replace. (Generally I replace the plug every 10k) (Sometimes a redundant activity)
7) Get it washed from external vendors.

Primary the source of training will be Youtube.

Is there anything, which can help me improve the quality of my ride? Any tips for a new owner?

I dont ride harsh and usually drive below 60kms. Bought this only for a higher power comfort ride, my previous ride was a 125CC bike, caused me backaches.

Thanks for your warm welcome, I have checked :-

1) Oil Level, he has it over high level somewhat
2) Exhausts, it does not has any oil residues
3) Tyres are in great conditions.

Had :-
1) Leaking engine magnet panel (fixed)
2) Rat ****ed wiring harness at tail lights (fixed)

I have not meet the owner, dealt with a agent. And I currently do not have manual with me. Can anyone help me get a owner manual of gixxer? even pdf will be great..

I contacted suzuki, they say that you need to order it again and it will take time around 45 days and of-course they will charge around 500 INR for it.

The handle bar is turned on left side when riding straight. I had promptly visited the service center after few days and they replaced the handle bar but the problem still persists. Then they said that now the issue will be looked by Suzuki engineer and then he would take a final call. Met up with the Suzuki guy last week; he acknowledged the problem and said he will prepare a report and submit it to Suzuki who will then decide what to do. He said this issue could have happened to other bikes produced in the same batch as well. I am still awaiting his response ...

Is it only the handlebar or the entire fork assembly?


My bike was like this a few days back.

My bike, and many others from the factory had uneven gap between the tank and the handlebar on the right and left sides.

In my case its just the handle bar and not the fork assembly. There is no vehicle pulling on any side just that the handle bar is tilted left when bike is riding straight.

The gap between tank and handle bar when completely turned on either side is different on my bike. I checked other new Gixxer bikes also they had similar issue so i am not complaining about that. I can live with that issue but handle bar alignment must be perfect when riding straight

Can you see the upper plate (the metal plate which has the handlebar clamp and the lockset) also tilted to one side like the handlebar? If that is also straight, then it's strange. Hope Suzuki sorts it out for you.

Visually i can't make out if the upper plate is tilted or not because the error is not huge. It is really a strange problem which the Dealer service network and the Suzuki engineer have never come across earlier.
