  • For the first time I cleaned my GS's chain manually; was very disappointed with SVC's service. I asked them to clean it in both paid services. There was no way I could tell they cleaned the chain.

    - only lower chain cover was removed
    - half of the weight of chain cover was oil+dirt (what do they call it?)
    - Motul Chain cleaner and lube were used

now my chain is loose and I only have spanner(both open and ring) up to size 22; will get the rest set this weekend...

Very pleased with the flow(ride) though! ignoring the clanks during gear shifts and closing throttle

      Which SVC do you visit?

        Sparkot,

My bike has covered more than 19400 kms. I have never cleaned it and have posted the pictures of its both sprockets here earlier.

In case of a half covered chain, this cleaning is essential but I cannot understand the logic behind the cleaning of the chain and sprockets of our bike which is fully covered.

For each cleaning, you are spending about Rs. 100/-. Suppose you may be able to use it for 50000 kms by cleaning it in every 1000 kms and 30000 kms without doing so. You are spending at least 2000 rupees to add a life of 20000 kms to the chain, if such a miraculous extension is possible.

Instead of cleaning the chain, lube it in every 500 or at least 1000 kms with a mixture of good grease and oil. Try Castrol Premium Formula Gel grease and their SAE 140 EP oil. Be extremely careful while lubing the chain after removing the chain cover.

You can tighten the chain yourself if you have proper spanners but the axle nuts must be tightened in specific torque. Otherwise the bike will vibrate while you ride. So it is better to get it tightened at the service centre.

        Just a personal opinion.

Unfortunately, I met with an accident and injured myself badly on hands and legs. The bike also got damaged with severe scratches on headlight cowl, right side panel near pillion rider seat, few scratches on exhaust pipe / silencer. Seems like there is a handle bent also. I am really hurt when I saw my bike lying on road with scratches rather than the pain I am having with injuries.

[COLOR=red][B]Can some one please help me to find the godd service station in Hyd to have all the spares of white color GS150r . Also guide me how to claim the insurance and its pit falls. I had insurance from IFFCO TOKIO from the dealer

I didn't had it cleaned once every 1000 kms. I asked them to clean when ODO was @5800 and @8002. They didn't do it at all. Hence I did it myself when ODO was @9450 kms.

Now the chain is clean; will apply grease when it dries and I had it tightened. Will also get oil+filter replaced this weekend. it's already about 3650 kms on Shell Semi-Synth AX7...

Ok, will not fiddle with chain tightening myself. Thank you for your helpful tips.. they're very useful..

I think that's true indeed this thread suzuki gs150r ownership reviews is most active thread in the xbhp.reason behind people knowing about suzuki gs150r is only with user experiences feedback through mouth talk and xbhp.
i am sure GS will become one of the best all rounder in the country.

                      • Hi firends.,
My GS is giving tik tik tik sound in idle rpm, I guessed it was tappet sound and got it confirmed from ABT Service Center that it was a tappet sound..
Since I'm planning 350kms trip tomorrow..I'm going to give it for service day after tomorrow.,
Will it affect the engine riding with this setup?

That sound is from the automatic decompressor in the bike. Either increase the idling rpm or keep the throttle a little more opened.

What is this thing and what is its job?

                              +1.

Even I used to wonder about that sound.. During cold starts if you keep the bike without any throttle , after few seconds the bike was getting off with that tik-tik sound..
So as Vishnu said just apply a little throttle/ increase idle rpm and the sound should be gone

The sound is more noticeable when the engine becomes hotter after riding for some 20 odd kms..
I could notice this sound only at idle rpm.,not while opening the throttle..
The mechanic checked the bike by giving throttle and de-throttle.,
After testing it for some minutes he concluded that the sound is from valve area..
I could clearly hear the sound is coming around the spark plug area..

Is it from the automatic decompressor?
