I have a gut feeling that the Yamaha R3 is discontinued permanently, it is taking them a lot of time to bring the BS4 R3's! Even the Ducati Scramblers with BS4 engines have been launched!

Every manufacturer takes its own time to launch their vehicles, it's yamaha's call when they want to relaunch the R3. You can't say that it's permanently discontinued. If it was permanently discontinued then yamaha would have mentioned that long back.

Well i would be more than happy if they are going to launch it, but potential customers are tired of waiting for the bike! I hope they launch it, but with ABS though.

1.Is the rc book a printout on a4 paper with RTO stamp? I was expecting it to be like those conventional rc papers (wide certificate style)
2.The first free service is done in time and second is due in a month. But the second service receipt in the service book is missing. Will this be a problem to avail the 2nd free service? More than the free service I am worried about a voided warranty.
Are you getting the black one?....saw two bikes advertised here at Mumbai on one of the used items portal last week...one blue and one black...

The service and warranty etc are, to a large extent, dependent on the service centre guys. They don't involve the Yamaha reps unless its something really out of the way or big. You can visit any of the service centre and ask them the consequences of the lost page...or as someone has already pointed out, you might need to pay for that service..it would be within Rs. 1000...not more..

What does the seller say..what reason does he give for the torn page...that should be interesting..

          regards,

Never the less, regarding your query,
            1. As you know Mumbai itself has 3-4 RTOs.. so all of them have their own format of RC copy, a regular print out is one of them..
            2. A missing 2nd free service coupon shouldn't cause warranty issues if you would get the service done as per the schedule which acc to u is due in a months time. Just that you'll have to pay the paid service cost.
Glad to know that regular print is a valid format. Also, thanks for clarifying the service thing. I do not mind paying for the service as long as my warranty remains intact.
About the choice, R3 was my first choice. Then I got tired of waiting for the BS4 so checked out every other option available. But being a die hard R15 fan (and owner), none appealed like the R3.

Thanks for the advice. Will check with the service guys once. As I said, I do not mind paying as long as my warranty remains intact.
Yes, I am looking at the black one, although blue was my primary choice.
The dealer had no clue that the page was missing in the first place. I spotted it. I have told him to ask and get back. But whatever reason he gives, I don't think the page will be available.

Even I am losing my patience waiting for new R3!
To make matters worse, Yamaha doesn't even update if they are relaunching R3 or not, and if yes, by when!
Pathetic lack of communication from Yamaha India.

Who all are waiting for R3 should wait a little more in my opinion. There are talks about a new facelift R3 with 'R' DNA styling similar to R6 or R15 V3.

Wait until the official launch in US and UK markets for 2018 R3's somewhere around October. If it stays the same with no change and still not available in india then you will always have the chance to get any other motorcycle.

The facelift will take a long long time to reach India for sure. Yamaha bosses had hinted that they will not be getting the new R15 v3 to India soon. So if they can delay the R15 (which should get more volumes compared to R3), then the R3 would be most certainly delayed. If yamaha is indeed going to get the facelift R3, then I don't think it will be launched before Q4 2018.

What do you think about the R3 as a bike for a beginner who has quite some experience with cars and scooters but barely any experience with bikes apart from a Splendor. There's a 2016 2000km run R3 and fits right in my budget.

It's a great beginners bike, if the beginner has all the screws in his head intact and tight. For Indian roads, the R3 can be a forever bike. It's a great machine to start learning on, and a great machine to keep riding till it dies. All that, provided you know your own limits and have the maturity not to push your luck. The R3 can go fast, that's no secret. Knowing when to go fast and when not to, is the skill one needs to possess. If you have that judgement right, it won't matter if you get an R3 or a Hayabusa, you'll be safe and keep learning.

So, I guess the real question here is - are you ready for the R3? Can you show the maturity to go slow on a fast bike?

I hope I wasn't too vague in answering the question. If you don't understand this, then one of two things is true; either I suck at explaining concepts or you aren't ready for the R3. I would say it's the latter, because I've been commended on how well I articulate abstract and sensitive matters by many. But I've been wrong before, and I don't know you so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Don't matter what it is: Touring; Racing; Commuting. All I know is, I belong on the saddle.

This is the reply I was waiting for from an experienced biker. When I asked the same in the Duke 390 thread, many suggested against it and on doing more research I did feel the bike was quite aggressive and that the R3 could suit me way better instead. Thank you for your time.

If you ride it sanely it's easily controllable. But it accelerates fast after 6k rpm. But it's lot easy to ride than duke 390 in city.

                            Totally agree...
all other things remaining equal, R3 would be a safer option compared to 390...primarily because of the 390's lighter weight and high torque at lower RPMs...very easy to get tempted at street speeds...on the other hand R3 would be sedate at lower RPMs..till you reach the highway..then it goes crazy...

                            regards,

Hello, recently I came to know that there is an bs3 R3 available readily! It was registered in 2016 on the dealers name! He mentioned its a testride piece ready for sale.I could read 1100 km on the meter! Should I go with it? What could be the best price that I can negotiate? What are all the points that I have to observe in the bike? I can manage to get the bike for 2.9 laks!

I don't mind waiting, but I need to know if Yamaha is launching R3 or not? And if yes, some tentative dates?
