Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
*Hi I hope there's a NCB scheme which is available for all automobile insurers.Originally posted by Parag Sharma View PostToday, an idiot city bus driver overtook me from the left and pushed me off towards the right side smashing my bike into the divider.
Luckily, I was able to stop properly cause I generally ride at 35-40kmph. No injury caused to me but the leg guard got bent and exhaust got scratched.
My insurance policy is expiring on 4th November this year. I want to claim for the same. Is the claim tenable ?
Also, suggest me something for the leg guard and the exhaust and the exhaust cover.
WHAT'S IT ?
NCB- NO CLAIM BONUS , If we didn't claim any money for 1 year from the insurer in the given period they will give us a bonus for us.
Many aren't aware of this and there is a important thing to do so.
Note: The policy holder (customer) should renew his insurance policy before it expires !!
You've said that your insurance will be expired on November 1st ,so you just renew it ASAP by next week .
You'll get a whopping 20% discount on your next insurance man !!! .
SOURCE:www.policybazaar.com
IDK about this much anyhow you can contact your insurance policy staff about NCB !!
Regarding to your issue ,it's just got a bend (bumper) that can be straightened up by local mechanic or welder for 50/100 bucks I hope.
I've seen RE bikers wearing a kinda black rug threads on their bumper for avoiding rust and little damage.
Or if you can get a new bumper by insurance ,that also a good move.
Btw do whichever is good !!!
Cheers,

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hi friends I AM NEW HERE.. I have completed 6k in my hornet 160r 2017 model bought on jan 2018...
I am here to discuss a issue i am facing for last 3months.. on cold start (either in morning, or returning from my office at 8pm, ) when engine is cold my hornet start fine, but after few second its rpm started falling and engine stalls,
If I set the rpm at 1k in cold start it starts fine, but in hot engine RPM rises and sometimes it stalls at 2k for few second before dropping to idle rpm (1.6k approx)..
Does everybody feels same , ASC guys told me this is normal for honda engine, i have to choke start everytime when engine is cold..

Can you start the engine with choke during cold starts??Originally posted by sen_mohor View PostHi friends I AM NEW HERE.. I have completed 6k in my hornet 160r 2017 model bought on jan 2018...

Yes, while using choke in cold engine it works fine, but even in june I have to use choke to start cold engine, either in morning, or after keeping 4-5hr in my office parking,..Originally posted by ayrus View PostCan you start the engine with choke during cold starts??
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
Engine starts well and if i accelerate immediately after starting and runs the bike it wont stall, it stalls if i keep the bike idle after cold start....

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
What happens if you apply choke to a hot idling engine??

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
As a rule of thumb, applying choke when,
Cold - engine starts, hot - revs high – running lean
Cold - engine starts, hot - engine dies – normal
Cold - engine doesn't start, hot - engine dies obviously – running rich
So, you are probably running a lean mixture

I will check again tomorrow and get back to you, so u suggest that proper carb tuning will solve my issue, in cost of a bit of milege right?Originally posted by ayrus View PostAs a rule of thumb, applying choke when,

I feel it is better to get your carb tuned by the SVC or a good mechainc rather than doing it yourself. You can attempt it but still....Originally posted by sen_mohor View PostI will check again tomorrow and get back to you, so u suggest that proper carb tuning will solve my issue, in cost of a bit of milege right?
BTW.... How are the cold starts without choke??

Cold start is okay, it starts fine but stalls after sometime when kept idle without choke,Originally posted by ayrus View PostI feel it is better to get your carb tuned by the SVC or a good mechainc rather than doing it yourself. You can attempt it but still....

I think during servicing ASC guy has made the mixture lean, and problem starts..
I will ask them to check my carb tuning, or do it from other mechanic..

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
That feels normal. Warm-up is required 2-3K rpm for 30-40 sec. Let the throttle go after it and engine should not stall.Originally posted by sen_mohor View PostHi friends I AM NEW HERE.. I have completed 6k in my hornet 160r 2017 model bought on jan 2018...

This is normal too. When engine it hot it won't go directly to idle RPM.Originally posted by sen_mohor View PostIf I set the rpm at 1k in cold start it starts fine, but in hot engine RPM rises and sometimes it stalls at 2k for few second before dropping to idle rpm (1.6k approx)..
However, there should not be too much variation. Try, warn up engine in morning before hitting the road. This also makes smother ride in morning. Engine should not stall. If still happening then get it checked with other service center.------------------

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Ideally, an engine should start with no choke or throttle input. It is okay if it requires choke or slight throttle input (not more than 3k rpm) and should stay at idle without any inputs. If it stalls after staring, it is running a bit lean.Originally posted by anoopkumar0 View PostThat feels normal. Warm-up is required 2-3K rpm for 30-40 sec. Idle rpm after the engine gets heated up will be ~500 rpm higher than the cold idle in case of carbed engines. But if the idle stays a bit high and comes down to a lower idle rpm, it is a sign of running a bit lean. This is normal too. When engine it hot it won't go directly to idle RPM.
