Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
10w40. The best grade for the climate here (by experience). 20w is too heavy.Originally posted by #bpk View PostWhich grade of oil you used in unicorn in summer
Relax, you worry too much for the smallest of things and ask the same question in multiple placesOriginally posted by #bpk View PostWill easter based 5100 ruin my oil seals, since you've 220 you might've used motul 5100, please guide me on oil seal leakage due to easter.
. Use 5100 without any worry, won't cause any issues with the oil seals.
If I give my CD100 to an ASC, they pour in 10w30. The oil is crap, good only for winters (<25°C), even in the newer bikes.Originally posted by Zapps View PostI have 2008 Honda Shine, yes earlier they recommended using 20W40, bit later 10W30. This might be due to some internal changes in the subsequent revisions.Last edited by Shashank K R; 10-07-2018, 03:35 PM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
You are driving very lean and missing the fun of Hornet. You want performance you got to drive in high RPM.Originally posted by Preshit View PostOkay bro but i never stress 1st more than 15kmph , 2nd more than 27 Kmph and 3rd more than 40 because if i manage to accelarate more than these speed limits it makes awful noise that is not acceptable.
I dont know when my bike will become smooth or it will remain as it is! But i also face the problem , when i start my bike on first gear the pickup is bad and at 15kmph it vibes a lot
I had the similar experience as you. However I slowly tried to run in high RPM and bike became more smother and bassy instead of too much growling noise. You can start with
4th gear: ~75Kmph @6.5K RPM
3rd gear: ~45-50Kmph @5K RPM
I have driven at 7K RPM in 3rd gear (I guess it was 60Kmph, inclination though).
No need to rev hard keep moderate acceleration.------------------

Am not exactly sure about specifications, I simply asked for auxillary lamps and installed.. And its producing some decent glow, cost will be around 500Originally posted by kevinw View PostHow much did these cost and what are the specifications of the lights?

Hi my bike is 2018 blue STD ABS, facind hard gear shift and engine over heating problems do u suggest to change oil, its 800kms and first service doneOriginally posted by #bpk View PostMileage 48 kmpl with pillion, maintenance cost is negligible, engine oil cost = 310 rupees only, but if you want good performance then you have to invest in honda throttle or motul 5100, 10w 30 oil. ( COST RS 696 and rs 513 respectively)

Engine overheat - am not facing muchOriginally posted by rkurre View PostHi I own 160 r 2018 ABS, 800kms driven and first servicing done, engine is over heating and head lights are not so bright they are LED lights, and also hard gear shifting sometimes gear is getting struck on 2 and making noise any advices.
Head light - their glow is very poor, I recommend installing auxillary lamps
Gear struck - usually am facing false neutral , sometimes confusion happens in between first, neutral and second., Hardly I face gear struck ( simply accelerate a bit , it has to get release), lube chains periodically for smooth ride... Ensure chain is not over tight/loose...

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Don't worry bro , it's normal after 1000 kilometres heat will reduce, also use motul 5100, 10w 30 after 1600 kilometres, honda mineral oil is pathetic, very bad, motul will smoothen your gears and heating will disappear, also use 90 grade or 140 grade gear oil in chain, it will make the ride smooth, chain spray lubes are not helpful for me, so i use 140 grade gear oil. Have u faced any vibrations in 2nd and 3rd gear around handlebar and footpegs in 3.5k rpm.? Please reply [emoji119][emoji119]Originally posted by rkurre View PostHi my bike is 2018 blue STD ABS, facind hard gear shift and engine over heating problems do u suggest to change oil, its 800kms and first service done

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
For headlight ,you have to adjust the light beam, i also felt that headlight is focussing upwards, later i adjustment the focus and it's good gor city use, refer to page no. 30 of your hornet user manual and adjusted the headlight focus yourself, or tell the honda mechanics to do it. Most honda mechanics don't know to adjust them.Originally posted by rkurre View PostHi I own 160 r 2018 ABS, 800kms driven and first servicing done, engine is over heating and head lights are not so bright they are LED lights, and also hard gear shifting sometimes gear is getting struck on 2 and making noise any advices.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
OK guys, it's official here. As of today, the showrooms here have no longer Unicorn 160 in their portfolio. I went today to book a new one but they said that Honda has stopped shipping and selling it. Unicorn 150 costs about 81K OTR and X-Blade costs 85K OTR while the Hornet costs about 101K OTR. That's a huge price difference between three bikes in a close segment.
And I test drove the X-Blade. Here are few of my observations:
1. Ergonomics are better than Hornet.
2. Seating is quite comfortable. I rode without pillion.
3. Engine refinement is same as Unicorn 160 and a typical Honda (silent & smooth).
4. I like the switch gear already.
5. Lighter than Hornet and my brother's Honda Unicorn.
6. The feedback from Rear Brake drum is better when compared to Hornet.
7. The instrument console, although sleek is really nicely visible when compared to other ones around.
8. Suspension is less stiffer than Hornet.
9. Bike struggles after 6.5k RPM.
10. Headlight is clear and legible in high beam. The low beam needs a bit adjustment I think.
11. No scope for adding a regular side box.
12. The handlebar isn't too low or high. It just gets the job done.
13. Overall seating position is more confidence inspiring than Hornet. Should make it easier to maneuver this bike in traffic.Last edited by Bismaya; 10-10-2018, 12:45 AM.[My Motorcycles]

85k is ex showroom price, i think, after 5 years of insurance it should cross 1lakh mark.Originally posted by Bismaya View PostOK guys, it's official here. Bro, are you facing gear struck between 3-4 or 4-5 and making sounds, started noticing some weird smell from engine due to overheating I guess , service guys are like no issues its common in new bike.Originally posted by #bpk View PostFor headlight ,you have to adjust the light beam, i also felt that headlight is focussing upwards, later i adjustment the focus and it's good gor city use, refer to page no. 30 of your hornet user manual and adjusted the headlight focus yourself, or tell the honda mechanics to do it.
