Also, tappet adjustment seems difficult from far but is pretty easy... Happy new year XBhpians...
Aditya, Glad that you got it fixed. You will do better without my blessings, trust me, am just a novice DIY'er, started out late. It's not rocket science.

Where did you get the spare - Honda or Hero?

If motorcycling is Zen, our rides - our meditations, then a simple DIY is like Gardening. Zen monks are supposed to maintain a small garden, that's what I have heard. It gives physical work to our hands and makes the mind calmer. It's not surprising that cleaning a dirty part with solvent is the most physical of any DIY and gives most happiness. But some of the monks don't prefer gardening and thats okay too.

Learn slowly & steadily, and you can do most of the work on your bike yourself with proper tools. When you get time, go through "Dan's motorcycle repair course", (can be Googled).

Scottolier is automatic drip chain lubrication system. Which feeds chain with drop of oil at regular interval after every ignition. It's a very useful system specifically for DIY guys like myself. Scott oiler vSystem costs about 100 pounds so its just a fancy performance upgrade Please can anyone help me in finding the vacuum tube in hornet ??
Cost is 8000-9000 INR ? One can buy 5-6 new chain-sprocket kits with that money . The only vacuum tube in Hornet and other similar motorcycles is the SAI vacuum tube - this is a tiny tube attached to the intake manifold brass nipple. other end goes to SAI valve.

My friend changed his at 22K. Is that fair enough? The new one has lasted 8K and is from the 2018 models. Gets loose less often when compared to old chain.

22 k is enough for Hornet chain.

I got it changed on 15k (though did it earlier as long journey was planned) .

For auto lube in earlier posts. 100 pound is too much for the result.Chain set with sprocket costs less than INR. 2000. I didn't heard so far anyone using it.

If I say, it's guilty pleasure for bikers to spend time cleaning the bike. Look back , clean that little spot again [emoji23][emoji23] .

Yes I know the cost. I have found this very useful here in UK. I just to fit it and test. Later, if i upgrade my bike i can reuse it.

I changed the chain sprocket of my 2017 edition hornet on the odo of 13650km.. may it's little earlier, but I used to go several long trips as well am daily commuting in dense traffic so I has to make more gear shifts and it leads to change of chain sooner..

I fitted 2018 hornet chain sprocket, the frequent chain loosening is getting better on 2018 model...

Recently I made chain lube for a long trip, after lubing chains I was riding in mid range and I felt sooo good about engine smoothness (more smoother than normal) and it made me think, is any sub 200cc motorbike there with such a kind of smoothness...
Also the response for acceleration in low RPM was good compared to normal times...

Guys, how about adding engine "under cowl" for hornet... Does it enhances the muscular look...?

Nothing but the usual chain lubrication done in Honda service centre... Along with the proper fit of chain (shouldn't be more loose / tight)

                            Hello guys,

Read 30% of the thread and decided i will go with this bike as this will be my daily driver. I am pretty tall and well built - around 6'2 and 120 kg. all other bikes look like a toy on me. Also i will be using it with a pillion rider most of the time. Getting delivery of hornet with STD ABS today. Any immediate changes I will need to make after i get the bike? Saw the LED has been changed from XBlade now, is the throw good for night driving or should i change it? sorry if this is answered already as i didnt go through the entire thread.

Hi, am a user of hornet since 2017 June ...
Below are my experience on this bike..

                              Cons
                              --------
Little underpowered in Low RPMs (need to make frequent gear shifts in "stop and go" traffic and in huge bumps)

                              Pros
                              --------
                              Super stability
                              Good braking
                              Head Turner design
Seating position is upright - good for long rides
Handle position is also good to hold for long rides
                              Super smooth mid range
Due to its lesser length, its quite easy to squeeze through gaps in traffic
Pillion comfort is better compared to most beyond 150cc bikes
                              No vibrations till 110 kmph
If properly ridden it gives around 50kmpl in city and 55+ in highways

You will feel hornet engine refinement post 45-50kmph till 110kmph

Regarding seat height, did u tried test ride in showroom? If u did, then u already may got your answer

As u said, you are 120kg ... Bike weight is 142 kg..
if u ride along with pillion , say a overall 180kg load will be on bike... With such a load I can't exactly tell about bike performance ( Requesting fellow hornet rdiers to comment on this)

Recently I went for a trip covering 715kms with a overall load of 145 kg... Bike was performing well in mid, top range.. only in Low RPMs , I was required to make frequent gear shifts (in dense traffic and huge bumps)

Congrats and welcome to hornet club. LEDs cant be changed, the entire headlight is a complete sealed unit. However you can install auxiliary lights.
