Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hey guyzz...
I went for a Bangalore to wayanad trip (around 300km) in my Hornet on last two days..
Liked to share some experience of it..
1. Went with a pillion and travel bag
2. Covered the overall trip distance of 715kms in two days.. rode through day and night
3. Bike was exceptionally well in highways (mostly we maintained around 80 to 100kmph)
4. Some tough off roads we explored in wayanad..with more Rocky paths with most elevated angle.. we rode in first gear on most of them.. but worth a ride..
5. But in low RPMs ("stop and go" as well below 20kmph) bcz of 130/140kg load on bike, we got to do more gear shifts (that was a little annoying thing)
Attached few pics..

Awesome[emoji106] with luggage and pillion I couldn't imagine going uphill [emoji86] [emoji1]. I find the bike struggling only with a pillion, leave alone luggage.Originally posted by gowthamh View PostHey guyzz...

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Sharing my experience, I dont know what the svc guys use for chain and sprocket lubing, it makes the sound harsh and I feel the engine has a difficult time driving the chain.
I cleaned and lubed just the chain and there was a huge difference. The sound of the engine changed and I feel there is less loss in power delivery from the engine to the chain/wheel.

Also, ASC charges 150 for clean and lube. They never clean the chain, just waterwash.Originally posted by elviento View PostSharing my experience, I dont know what the svc guys use for chain and sprocket lubing, it makes the sound harsh and I feel the engine has a difficult time driving the chain.

Best is clean with diesel then waterwash followed by Lube.------------------

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hello guys,
Back on this forum after a long time.
It has been 20k+ kms and 3 years wonderful journey with my hornet.
I am planning to do some minor changes to my hornet.
first of that would be changing the horns to something loud and more audible, I do not want anything fancy.
I've shortlisted these two horns based on my needs.
1. Hella Yellow Panther
12V,350/415 Hz,105-118 dB @ 2m
2. Hella 922300441 Mach Trumpet Low Tone Single
12V,420 Hz,105-118 dB @ 2m
Please Suggest which one would be better for the panthers i will be using a relay as they are set of 2 making them twice costly than single mach trumphet.
Thanks
Saurabh Singh.

Use gear oil to experience more smoothness.Originally posted by elviento View PostSharing my experience, I dont know what the svc guys use for chain and sprocket lubing, it makes the sound harsh and I feel the engine has a difficult time driving the chain.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
If you find the volume adequate with just one horn, you should go for it. Ideally, two horns make sense as they produce sound at different frequencies that makes them more hear-able. Even trumpet horns I have seen come in pairs.Originally posted by Saurabh213 View PostHello guys,

And adding relay only protects your wiring and battery. So always go for it whenever installing aftermarket horns to protect your bike. A relay only costs max ₹100 so it's a good investment.
I had installed Bosch F4 horns with a relay on my Honda Shine and now reinstalled on P220. They are also pretty good and reliable. Needles to say Hella makes good horns too. My friend got their black colored twin pairs for 400 a pair, medium loud and usable. They had 2 more bigger options, which can be used if you need more volume. Just go to a shop and they'll be happy to let you hear the sound of different horns, you can choose what suits you.Last edited by Zapps; 01-02-2019, 09:32 PM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hey guys... Earlier i had posted about how i accidentally broke off the top part of tappet screw... I didn't fully loosen the nut so the incident happened...
But with blessings of Ashwanth sir i was able to correct it ... Just brought a new tappet screw...
Unscrewed the locking nut of the broken tappet screw and removed the damaged screw by hand...
I adjusted the tappet with the help of feeler gauge or locally called tappet gauge...
I was able to do it with the help of you all and your encouragement for DIY especially Ashwanth sir...
Also, tappet adjustment seems difficult from far but is pretty easy...
Happy new year XBhpians...

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hi All,
Happy new year to all
It's been very long time i have posted here.
I'm planning to put Scottolier to my hornet just for experiment. Scottolier is automatic drip chain lubrication system. Which feeds chain with drop of oil at regular interval after every ignition. It's a very useful system specifically for DIY guys like myself.

The system comes with vSystem and eSystem.
The eSystem is electronic and require high Ah battery.
The vSystem i basic and require connection to vacuum tube of the vehicle.
I'm planning for vSystem but i'm not sure whether engine has vacuum tube. My assumption is that vacuum tube is present but not necessarily as a tube. It may be some component.
There are other oiler which dont use vSystem/other system but require physical intervention every time to lube the chain. Which i'm trying to avoid.
Scott oiler vSystem costs about 100 pounds so its just a fancy performance upgrade
Please can anyone help me in finding the vacuum tube in hornet ??Last edited by Abhitosh Ghongade; 01-03-2019, 09:32 PM.

I was not satisfied with stock horn of hornet from the day 1 as it sounded very tinny and loudness was not adequate.Originally posted by Zapps View PostIf you find the volume adequate with just one horn, you should go for it. 2-3 times I had this problem of people reversing there vehicles without looking at back and the horn even couldn't get there attention.
I will be going with a dual horn but my concern is that will the hella panthers fit the bike?
anyone who has upgraded there stock horns on the bike can guide me.

If you are planning for dual horn I suggest you to check Roots sharp tone. I am using it in my car since more than a year. Till now no issuesOriginally posted by Saurabh213 View PostI was not satisfied with stock horn of hornet from the day 1 as it sounded very tinny and loudness was not adequate.

You can see how he fixed dual horns. BTW, when you get horns, any electrician will do the work needed to fit those horns.

What was your ODO when you changed sprocket, seems so soon?Originally posted by sen_mohor View PostHello guys, i am riding hornet160r for about a year now done my 3rd free servicing, changed chain sprocket..
