Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
Something stuck in the Air Filter/Carburetor and it cleared itself ? Might be.Do check it though.Originally posted by stoneshwar View PostMine started behaving properly the next day. I dunno what the issue is, if it was petrol in tank, then it should not have fixed itself 🤔[My Motorcycle]

The Tank Cap has a rubber seal underneath it IIRC.Check that and if you find any cracks, replace it.Originally posted by Pdajmere View PostI'm also facing this essue. I figured that the water is leaking in fuel tank from the cap of the tank. The service centre is not near from me therefore I haven't resolved this problem yet. Anyone has suggestions for the petrol tank cap, is it need to be replaced or some packing will help? Let me know...[My Motorcycle]

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
Guys. Anyone else facing issues with front brake?
Over the past month, my front brake has been behaving extremely spongy and the lever tends to pull all the way back. This has led to a lot of difficulty in bringing the bike to a halt as the feedback and bite is really poor unless you engage the lever all the way back.
So I went to the SVC here in Calcutta and the response I got(from the chief mechanic) was that this is a common issue being faced by RTR200s and there is not much they can do until the company rectifies the build issues, upon which they would call and replace the required parts. I mean seriously wtf, this is the brake we're talking about! And I have the super grippy Pirellis on.
Before going to the SVC, I had paid a visit to my trusted local mechanic (who has solved more niggles than the SVC), and he was immediately of the opinion that the master cylinder and the brake line being provided are of poor quality and this is causing the issue. I am already in discussion to change the brake line to a steel braided one from Pulsar 220.(especially as it worked brilliantly on my old fz). Further, I may also look at changing the cylinder to a KBX one (which seems to come stock on most bikes here it seems).
I've always felt that braking performance is the only weakness on what is a brilliant bike and in my case it's reduced even further. Has anyone else been facing similar issues?

They should change the master cylinder from your 200 to the 180's. These are the same brakes but vendors are different. You can change it and it's fine again. I've raised this issue to TVS r&d regarding this. Don't worry.Originally posted by ALI.R View PostGuys. Anyone else facing issues with front brake?

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
Thanks! Hopefully that'll help in fixing this major issue. I wish TVS just went mainstream and used the Bybre setups every one else seems to be using.Originally posted by JS16 View PostThey should change the master cylinder from your 200 to the 180's. Yes I feel it yesterday while riding in rain. But not sure where it is coming. Maybe I suspect shoes containing the silencer, since pillion footrest is so close to silencerOriginally posted by roamer View PostWhile riding gets burn like smell . Has anyone experienced it? This has been from long time, though there's been never a hiccup.

I had a talk with svc guy a few days back. He asked me if bike is still undergoing free services or not? Upon saying yes, he told me that SVC will change both of the brake pads and front sprocket for free. There are a few complaints about the front brake and the disc pads are causing excess wear to the rotor.
The front lever on my brake has gone a little bit spongy over 6500 kms and I was thinking that an air bubble might be causing the issue. Not sure if cylinder/brake line is culprit here.
Thanks,
NS

Got a defective peice of Apache RTR 200 4V
Hi all,
I took an Apache RTR 200 4V on 14th of October, 2017 but it had starting problem in the showroom itself. Dealer told that it may be because of impurities in carburettor and replaced it from another new bike. It started well then. I brought it home and the same problem started. The dealer had to take it back in a truck next day. He say I will get a new peice of Apache RTR 200 but the chesis and engine no will be same because it is already registered with RTO. I want to know if this is right process when a bike has to be replaced with a new peice. I am not sure if they can give a different bike with same engine no and chesis no. Please Help Me!!

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
So, I have finally managed to get rid of the spongy feeling /inadequate bite thanks to my trusted local mechanic earlier today. I have basically given up on the SVC as they are clueless and frustrating.Originally posted by Nitish Singla View PostHi ALI.R

The culprit was the piston assembly in the master cylinder which pumps the brake oil into the line. Everything else is working perfectly. Upon inspecting the piston assembly, it was clear that springs had recessed and were no longer strong enough to pump the brake oil properly. Also noticed were scratches the improper piston had caused on the walls of the cylinder shaft and it required polishing.
Instead of using a stock piston as replacement (approx. Rs. 300), my mechanic used one which comes as stock on Honda Hornet (approx Rs500). It's a perfect fit and the braking performance is now better than it has ever been on my RTR. Thank **** for that! I have also replaced the Dot3 fluid with Dot4 type.
On a bike so well put together, I wonder why TVS chose to cut corners on the braking unit of all things. The unit is being sourced from some obscure Chinese manufacturer it seems (I noticed some chinese markings inside the master cylinder. Hope they don't do that on more advanced bikes like the Akula.
