Did my first tour on my beast...
In total 210 kms. Now my odo is at 340kms(still in break in period)

Things I did wrong during my tour.
Crossed 60kmph twice for few seconds, first was 76 kmph and second was 81kmph.
Took my bike on mountain ride which may have put pressure on bike.

While on way to my destination I maintained speed of around 60kmph and while coming back it was around 55kmph.
I felt some vibs below seat above 60kmph.

    I have few question.
Did I put my beast on stress during my tour?
Will the stress can be recoverable?

Is that Avalabetta? It has some serious uphill roads which definitely strains the engine.

Crossing 60 for a few seconds is fine, helps in the run in.

        Ya it was Avalabetta.
Did I made any unrecoverable error with that ride?

Hey everyone. I've completed around 3500 kms so far and my experience with this beast has been great. I managed to keep the run in period within suggested rev limits (though I skipped few times) and have completed the second service at 2700kms. Later during a long ride I managed to reach a top speed of 133 with a pillion, which is really appreciable. In the city this bike will never let you down, but on the highways you'll definitely feel the necessity of a 6th gear, with which this bike would have had a potential to reach even more high speeds. I get a mileage of 31-36 kmpl in city based on traffic.
I had 2 major issues so far.
          1) During the first service, the threading of a bolt seat in engine was damaged. Later some day when the engine was extremely hot due to riding in traffic for couple of hours, the gap widened in the threading and some of the engine oil leaked. Later I got additional threading done during the second service which resolved this issue.
          2) Running noise of the chain is bit high when compared to other bikes. The ASC guy informed, this is the same position with all RTR 200s and I need not worry about that. Can some one clarify if they also find the chain sound noticeably higher than other bikes?
And how frequently do you go for chain lube?

ohh man...How can they miss thread an engine bolt and fix it with our replacing. It is very unprofessional from tvs service centers.

Chain noise is higher side with everyone.

There is a 2004v group(https://chat.whatsapp.com/JM5qqYgWxyi7lX2n0LyXhj) where almost everyone has reported this, though was minimized with lubing the chain.

              Cheers.

Yes chain noise is very apparent. Bought a motul chain lube. Will see the difference at next checkup.

                  Hi Everyone

I am about to give the bike for first service in two weeks. I would like to know which engine oil has everyone been using. My bike is being used for office commute in Bangalore traffic for all weekdays (sometimes the entire week) and for short weekend rides. Right now Bangalore is neither too cold in the mornings nor does it get too hot in the afternoons (though they are sunny).

With this usage pattern is it advisable to continue with the 10W30 that TVS recommends. I plan to switch to Motul instead of TVS but I am not able to find a FS 10W30 oil from Motul (some FS oils like 300V seems way over my budget >Rs1000). Since many of you have completed even the second service could please let me know your recommendations.

Also I did notice a few days after taking delivery of the bike that the engine oil level (after taking measurement over center stand) is slightly lower than the mid point of the min and max level. Dont know why the showroom guys were stingy about filling in the engine oil. But I would like to make sure that they actually replace the oil and oil filter in the first service in front of me.

Is there such a service centre in Bangalore where I can contact the SA or Service Manager and get the first service done in front of me (I can go on weekdays if need be).

As the bike is under warranty it is recommended to change the oil which the SVC guys change that is TVS FS oil. I don't think that it's a bad oil but yes the oil change interval maybe less then motul but still good and recommended. Also after changing the oil at SVC it is of no use to change the oil from outside as TVS oil is itself FS and amounting to Rs.550 per litre. So better stick to TVS oil as of now.
Other thing SVC guys will not allow you to enter the work area to see if the bike is been serviced problem and oil filter and oil is changed in front of you. If the service center is small you might get a chance to bike serviced in front of you but you will be sitting in the customer lounge.

Dude what I meant was if someone could recommend motul equivalent oil in FS 10W30 I could purchase the same and have the svc guys use that during first service. Since the oil specs are the same no reason for them to refuse.

Regarding svc not allowing customers I am aware of that which is why I was asking for svc in Bangalore where I can speak to the service manager and see if they are doing the service properly.

You have to use TVS oil, they wont use other oil.

I am amused, most are not interested in the Gloss Black Variant. Most dealers in Hyderabad have white, matte black and matte gray. I have not spotted an RTR200 on the road, poor marketing to be blamed.
HI, I have recently bought apache 200 matt black in Hyderabad. Only black and white and gray available. No ABS version available so had to compromise there. First ever bike for me. Loving the attention this bike gets on road. One complaint though, this bike has some problem starting cold in morning- I, Either need to use the choke or give the bike a little manual push to get it started. Costed me 1.06 lacs onroad. Fit and finish is compromised on side panels i must say(may be this is the issue with my particular bike as I have heard this bike has a pretty good fit and finish on bike reviews.). Have done 460 Kms on this bike. No problems running. Reserve tank indicator has some issues.

Yes buddy, faced the same issue twice. I thought the issue is with my bike only.

                                Hi All,

I have completed my first service at 466 Kms. I have been constantly running the bike at 50-65 Km/h below 4.5K rpm. Now After the first service can I start riding the bike little faster or should I continue to do the same speeds and rpm. The manual said to keep the bike below 50Km/h but the bike gets to that speed at around 3.5K rpm and in my opinion low rpm also stresses the engine.

Should I wait till second service?
