It does 80 at 5800 RPM to be precise.

I think I might not be able to give you correct answers for 2nd and 3rd question.
I have not done much of highway riding so cannot tell you about the efficiency but it is giving me around 35 in city. So, i think it might give better on highway(around 40 i guess).

About the windblast it is tolerable past 100 if you use your visor. I did not face any big issue as such.

The fuel lid key hole flip cover on red version I saw at a dealer ship is silver colored. But the attached picture from a review thread its red. Wondering why the mismatch.

Info Update :

TVS Dealer in Thane-West (Manpada, i dont remember its name but i guess its a branch of Ashwini TVS also in Thane).

they dont have any idea about the ABS &/or FI versions. they dont know when it will be available and not even the pricing.

for now they have got only Carb version. that too they didnt have in stock.

has anyone bought an ABS model ? how effective is the ABS ?

also, for FI, how easy is to maintain/service FI system v/s Carburetor ?

i intend to go for Remora tyres + ABS + Carb version.

Dude slow down. Please read the thread this topic has already been discussed multiple times (Even I had participated in the discussion). If you are looking for any latest updates the last one I remember is that FI/Abs version is only expected next year (probably around March 2017). TVS is exporting most of their stock outside the country and will continue to sell the Base Carb version till the government mandate to move to ABS and BS4 emission norms come into play (I would love to be proved wrong).

As for which of them is easy to maintain sorry I don't have a clue. But if you have issues with a Carb bike any good mechanic can probably take a look and get it working again. For FI system issues you would probably have to go to the SVC (which has good mechs) or a really good independent service centre. For Carb atleast the labour charges should be cheaper probably the parts too.

Also I am not too sure about TVS offering ABS with the Carb version. As you said even the Carb base variant is in short supply even now.

Kindly search the thread before posting questions. Good luck.

I need a clarification from you guys. My RTR 200 is nearing its 2nd Service, do I need to change the engine oil or just top-up will be fine? I change the engine oil for my Star City+ during each service which I do every 3000 Kms. Also the oil used in that bike is normal mineral oil and so I believe changing oil every 3000 Kms is okay. But since RTR uses fully synthetic oil is it required to change the oil so soon (I believe fully synthetic oil can be used for around 6000 Kms)? In the user manual too its mentioned to inspect and top-up. But the service center guys always recommends oil change during each service. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

2) What fuel efficiency one can expect by consistently riding at 90-100 km/hr at 5th gear on highways?
3) Is the windblast tolerable at 100km/hr?

I had a test ride for 4 km, felt comfortable.but i could not ride long in free roads to get this info.Help me. You can reply in this thread or PM me or you can reply in my "what bike" thread - "A bike only for Touring under a budget of 1 lakh to 1.7 lakh rupees"

Hi,
Answer for your 2nd question.
I have got a fuel efficiency of 30 to 33kmpl approx with a pillion on highway cruising at 90-100 kmph.

Answer for 3rd question.

It's a naked bike and obviously wind blast is there at those speeds. However I felt comfortable cruising at 100 despite the wind blast. Mind you that the weather plays a role too.

Hi,
I have completed my 3rd free service of my bike from ASC.
Yes, since this bike uses fully synthetic, the oil change interval is some where around 5000 to 5500 kms as per the ASC guys.
That means, oil change for Approx 2 service once.

However it's good if you inspect the oil level and quality and act upon it.

One more nice thing is the company's fully synthetic oil is pretty economical and I wouldn't mind changing the oil every service once. But I'm not sure if that's good for the bike.

BhanuPrakash.. Thanks. Then I guess while riding solo (63 kg) I may get 35 kmpl fuel efficiency at these cruising speeds...

its much better to change the engine oil at every service as the oil is not that expensive been fully synthetic and i also doubt that it can do 5000kms in one go. You will start feeling the roughness once you are done 3000kms. Also no harm in changing the oil at every service. Oil change is always good for bike. I have completed 3 servicings and always changed the oil at each servicing. But be careful and check the oil level when taking your bike from SVC. Because i had the issue for less engine oil at everytime before servicing, so this time after coming home out of curiosity i checked the engine oil and it was less. When i went to them and had a check they to save themselves kept on saying that it is proper. I did not want to fight to came back and topped it up myself. So better check it before leaving.

I completed 1100 kms on my bike and suddenly the bike is feeling more refined than ever. The throttle response is so crisp now and the cold start problem is also a lot less. All this before the second service. Is this nornal or is it temporary. I am loving how the bike ia feeling these days- Crispy.

Thanks for your response. I will surely check the oil level after service. Also, can I use "Motul 7100 10W-40" or "Motul 300V 10W-40" instead of TVS oil? The TVS Tru4 Synthetic oil is 10W-30 and this is what mentioned in the user manual too as recommended oil for RTR 200. Will 10W-40 cause any harm to the engine?

Hello Friends,

I have done a one day trip of total 450.8 km on rtr200 & here is my review,

This was my 1st solo & long distance trip on bike, the destination was Vita from Pune,
I had started journey at 5:30AM on 10the dec 16 & reached at 9:30 AM and from Vita to Pune started at 5:00PM & reached Pune(Home) @ 9:00PM same day,

Took 3 stops of 10 to 15 mins each , Bike is comfortable at speed of 70 to 90kmph i.e. at 6k rpm but if drove to 100 or 100+ kmph for more than an hour then sound of the silencer changes & forcefully you need to take a break,as I have driven her at this particular situation & rtr200 can comfortably cruise @ speed of 80 - 90.

Comfort- No more sore butts, However, felt a little amount of pain at knees after 2 hrs of journey .

Speed - Achieved top Speed of 137 kmph.(Although rtr can do more)

Average - Still some fuel left in the tank so can't tell the exact average but approximate average can be in between 35 to 38 kmpl.

Overall happy with bike's performance.
10w40 means an oil that can handle engine heat better than 10w30 which the TRU4 is , there is absolutely no harm in using 10w40.

Since TRU4 is cheaper than most oils out there, I personally don't mind changing the oil at every consecutive service. But to keep costs in low, an easy workaround this "inspect and top up" is checking the engine oil personally, for its color, smell and particles if any, though these are hard to observe from the old dipstick system, a couple of repeated checks would let you know if you require a change or top up. Burnt smell, coarse feeling oil all indicate the oil change is required as opposed to top up.

When a new engine beds in, the engine scraps excess metal shavings from inside the engine and all this gets suspended in the engine oil. So, replacing them periodically for a new bike is never a bad idea. But again, follow your manual. If it says top up, inspect the way mentioned above which should give you an idea of replacing the oil or not.

Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
