FI should cost more.Originally posted by yathi View PostCan some one advise me the real world mileage/ drive quality/ smoothness etc diff between carburettor and fi RTR 200 series.
FI should give more mileage by 2-3. If any issue occurs in it, expect spares to be expensive.
Carbs should be simple and slightly lower FE. Thats the only difference.
FI will be more smooth. With FI, there will be expensive parts. ECU, Fuel pump, Injectors and Fuel filters. you need to take care of these regularly. If you run low on fuel, Fuel pump will conk off. If you dont change Fuel filters, expect Fuel pump failure as it has to do more work pumping through clogged filters.
These are the main things, you need to know. Now take a call. The power difference is hardly 1 HP? or less?

According to me FI doesn't make sense, considering only 1 hp increase in power and 2km extra mileage. As u said, we have to keep in mind that FI spares are expensive. Best bet is to go for Carb variant.Originally posted by kris123456 View PostFI should cost more.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Frankly I felt carburettor is better but I met a customer there in show room who was claiming a big margin difference between normal and fi ones. I believe in Karnataka, the road tax structure is ridiculous. I can see almost 10k difference between both carburettor and fi state tax amount, this was the major let down for me to consider FI model. Do anyone know why this difference in tax? Sometime back I do remember reading that bikes more than 1 lakh exshow room will have more tax.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Other than the additional power and mileage benefit, FI bikes require no mangal tuning. Chances are very less that it can be tampered by anyone.
They do not have starting problems on a cold mornings, no choke required.
They do not have a reserve cork. So need to refuel as soon as the low fuel indicator lights up.
Since there is no reserve cork, someone will not be able to steal fuel from the bike easily.
Requires regular change of filters for smooth operations and long life.
Agree that FI related parts are expensive to replace in case of malfunction, but in my entire usage of 9+ years I had to replace the fuel pump only once because the Petrol that I filled at a particular station had mud in it.
I do regular servicing with Synthetic oil changes at 5-6K intervals, filters changes. You need to have good service center at your location.
Don't know whether premium fuels have any advantage, but I used to fill up ExtraPremium Petrol (Indian Oil) when the price difference used to be very less as compared to normal Petrol. But I felt the engine liked it and used to get 2-5 KMPL extra mileage.

Those who keep talking only of the cons of FI, please understand FI is the future in India.. Mechanics these days have updated themselves on how to work with FI bikes..
regular maintenance of the bike shall not give you any problems.. The spares like the Fuel pump and FI injection might be costly but on the other hand, they last a long time.. My ZMR is FI and till date, I haven't faced any issues on the Fuel Pump or the FI (Touchwood) the bike has completed 60000 kms on the odo and she is 8 years old now..
You get better Throttle response and the bike will sound more bassy than the Carb'd version.
Let's understand the fact that even a slight hampering on the Carb will mess up the bike's performance while this isn't the case on the FI..
You can buy a bike worth 1L but can't fill fuel once the bike comes to reserve? Come on! Why talk about running empty when you know the bike is running with less fuel and requires fuel to run any further! This is the problem with us Indians.. We don't care to even fill the tank with fuel when the bike hits the reserve.. we wait for the fuel tank to be empty so that we push the bike to the nearest Fuel station and fill the tank with 50/- and run the bike til the fuel tank goes empty again..
I ride 3 FI bikes and I have completed more than 1L kms in total on FI bikes.. and til date, no problem.. I even left the bikes standing in Delhi winter for 2 months continuously and when I try to start my bikes, they start in the first self! Lets see someone say this who rides a Carb'd bikeSplendor - 2k to 2006
Karizma - 2k3 to 2009

Hunk - Oct 2k7 til now
ZMR - 2010 to Forever

The only thing that pushed me away from getting the FI version in my case was the Road Tax. There was a difference of more than 22k in Mumbai, Maharashtra between the on road price for Carb and FI version. Putting in 22k for the advantages of FI didnt seem economical.
Had it been a 15k difference I would have definately preferred FI over Carb.(or if I had more money)[emoji23]

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
I have the pricelist from Hare Krishna and the difference is not 22K; it is around 14K.Originally posted by a_shirke8 View PostI cant remember my carb bike starting in the first self without choke.

Apache 200 Carb -> 94579 + 11445 + 3478 = 109502
Apache 200 FI -> 107279 + 12792 + 3478 = 123549
Did you visit any other showroom?
I get that TVS took a very loooong time to launch the FI variant and I am also very annoyed because of that. And now within 2-3 months of launch, they have upgraded the entire Apache 200 product line to version 2.0!!!!
This will push the availability of the bikes to 1-2 months more....
But have to say that the new version looks awesome...and with added feature of slipper clutch it feels that the wait would be worthwhile. I hope that TVS ramp ups their production and rollout bikes more quickly.

I visited a multibrand showroom since SNC TVS was a pain in the ass. I still got my bike from there because the multibrand showroom was quite shady.Originally posted by prashantbhat25 View PostI have the pricelist from Hare Krishna and the difference is not 22K; it is around 14K.

The price there for the carb version was close to 104000 and the fi version was about 126000. These are not the exact prices but somewhere in the same range.
Ps. I think disappointment is on your way if you expect TVS to ramp up production for domestic sales. Im not hating, but they take their time to deliver. Im loving the slipper clutch version.[emoji173]

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
I believe on road price change city to city. Here in Bangalore, the final model said around 1.33 and carburettor around 1.12. I was going through carb vs FI scenarios, I think FI should choose if it's available. Frankly what's my problem is, I also have Cbr abs model and unicorn 160. The unicorn is quite old now and need a replacement, also real purpose is commuter. Considering that I am a Honda fan, the 1st choice was hornet 160. But whenever I test drove the same, I just didn't like it. Then I was stretching my budget and was looking for rtr200. I also need minimum 40 km mileage, I am quite matured rider.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
I am started getting severe back pain because of the rear suspension setup. The KYB shocks just sucks, the same issue has been with the cases of RR 310. Has someone tired to tweak the suspension setup to softer setting and does it help.

Anyone can help?

Re: TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Ownership Experience
Guys I need some help, I have heard a lot of negative comments about apache 200, most of them say that while new this bikes mileage is good, but after a few services the mileage drops to 25-30, also I have heard that the pillion comfort is seriously lacking, is it that bad or these are just BS circulating the internet. Please help as I am from a middle class family and as you can already understand that being from a middle class family i cant spend that much on fuel cost alone. Also, is pulsar ns200 is same or different in case of mileage,
Waiting for you guys reply
