You need some amount of cleaning for any chain lubes that have been used.

Gear oil is lot easier to clean than some chain lubes like Tribocor.

You need not clean every time you ride in rain or dust. It's only when the chain needs cleaning.

My FZ250 has done 1038 KMS as of now and is not lubed since purchase as it was not required.

But based on many forums (national or international) and my own experiences with R15 and 390. Gear oil can very well used with O-Ring chains.

O-Ring chains come with a rubber seal which covers the joint between the links. They are internally greased.

Whatever lubing done is not for O-Rings. It is done for reducing friction between chain rollers and sprocket.

Since petrol is reactive with rubber, it is not suggested to use for chain cleaning.

Gear oil is cheaper alternative for chain lubes and used very much. I usually use gear oil during monsoons and post monsoons because of dusty roads.
AFAIK, we can use gear oil. And also it has been tested that diesel, kerosene and WD40 can be used for cleaning O ring chains which does not corrode the seal.

          Beware of moderator action.
xBhp forum does not allow pics of helmet less riding.

            NEED HELP TO CALCULATE MILEAGE
on the 15th of June i received the motorcycle and filled up the fuel tank till brim. so 14 litres in her tank.
today the fuel reserve indication turned on and i went to refill the tank. she ran a handsome 525 kms total till then. when i refuelled her, only 10.34 litres was done and the fuel was filled till the brim (3.66 litres was left to be consumed).
so how do i find out her mileage now?
            is it this?
since 3.66 litres was left, it means she consumed 10.34 litres to run 525 kms. then mileage is 50.78 km/litre.
            where am i going wrong?

Same here, almost.. I filled up from reserve to full, it took around 11.4 litres. Then rode around 97 kms and did a tank full again. But this time when filling, after the petrol came till the brim, the bunk guy kept pouring with intervals and the bike kept swallowing. This was not done during the first time the tank was filled to brim.
So, around 3.45 litres were poured, then I asked him to stop, and I am sure the bike could have taken a little more.. Now calculating, it gives ~28. Which I feel is not accurate, as I assume I didn't do a proper tank full the first time nor the second..

Anyone know how to do a proper tank full?? I mean it comes to the brim and stays there, but if we pour some more it shallows that and maintains the brim level :/

Nevermind googled it.. It's recommended to insert nozzle all the way in and fill till auto cut off, and no further. Will try mileage calculation using this way in a couple of days, now the tank is super full!

Yes it is the correct method to check FE, everytime just tell the attendant to stop on auto cut off.

How to know when reserve is hit? Is it when the last fuel bar starts to blink?

Also anyone know measurement of valve clearance?

1km everyday without helmet is 365kms in a year and 3650 kms in 10 years without helmet.

Dont start measuring right after first tankful.
Start it from 2nd to 3rd tank full. This will be accurate.

I have been following this since long and while measuring on FZ24 i got exactly 40KMPL.

50 kmpl is on very higher side (but not impossible) unless you are riding on downhill all the time .

It will start to blink when it's in reserve . And your average kmpl indicator will start to show the range it can go with the fuel you have

Don't worry even i have experienced that I was getting 52kmpl . After first service I started to ride it bit rough and now it's giving me 40kmpl

when i saw that i was getting 50 km/litre i thought no man this cannot be. i am messing up somewhere. i am currently riding in national highways and state highways, hardly in towns. and since it was the first 500 kms kept up shifting at 4000-4500 rpm. so this is why the super mileage?

How much fuel is left in reserve? The average indicator is not correct FE?

If average indicator indicates 40 kmpl then does it mean it will go only 40? It should go depends on the number of liter(s) i have in reserve.

UPDATE: okay i read in the manual and got it. If the last segment of the fuel meter starts flashing, the display automatically changes to the fuel reserve trip meter mode "TRIP F" and starts counting the distance traveled from that point. 2.1L is left in reserve.
