Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Metal never expands with getting in touch with kerosene. Your chain actually got loose after washing as all the layers of grease and grimes was washed off the bushes and making it free. Chain getting loose after wash is normal and that's why torque was affected and after tightening it got normal. Do check once that chain doesn't get tight again, it happens sometimes.Originally posted by hemanta View Post| SOL 68s | Rynox Tornado Pro | Rynox Advento | Cramster TRG2 | Scoyco MC20 | Hero 5 and SJ6 |

Suggest always better to listen to the mechanic. If they say no to washing with kerosene, so be it!Originally posted by hemanta View Postthank you! got to learn how to tighten the chain then..or i will just wash the chain next time with soap water

Thank you!Originally posted by enabeelahmed7 View PostPersonally I'm not a big fan of Thunderbird. Even when I bought FZ25, ppl used to suggest that I could have bought a RE! Being lean and medium height I always feel that I would not be able to take the vibes of RE. And also naked bikes please me more than classic ones. Anyways you decide by your heart, finally it's what you are happy about and like it!
Advance congratulations.....

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Soap water cannot cut down grease and oil, only cutting agent like cleaner, kero, diesel can. You can use kero and then warm soapy water is at least better than cold water. Today i tighten my chain by myself. Its very easy to do as I have done may DIY's in the past including complete engine assemble of HH. Chain tightening procedure is given on the manual book. The axle nut is 22 mm and bolt 17 mm. Adjuster require 12mm.Originally posted by hemanta View Postthank you! got to learn how to tighten the chain then..or i will just wash the chain next time with soap water
How many mechanics are found to be very knowledgeable here? They say whatever comes to their mind and their saying is not based on any evidence or facts. Ask them why? and they will have no answer. I recommend to do your own research.Originally posted by prashnagpal View PostSuggest always better to listen to the mechanic. Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Couldn't agree more here. So far I've met/know more half baked mechanics than knowledgeable ones. Only very few diagnose an issue properly, rest all do trial and error resolution starting from the most plausible cause to least one. As you said, ask them why, and they'll come up with something absurd or the standard answer "It's only like that sir".Originally posted by paul.1911 View PostHow many mechanics are found to be very knowledgeable here? Here the kersone had nothing to do with chain loosening but it was included in the cause. May be the mechanic bluffed or was taught/heard it from someone but if he had asked the question why kerosene loosens the chain? He wouldn't have said it's the cause of the loose chain.
Cheers!

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
1. Hes talking absolute BS.Originally posted by hemanta View Postthe metal in the chain expands on kerosene application. then he tightened the chain. i think she ran ran better after that.
2. Chain tightning solved your issue so the lag you were feeling has nothing to do with Kerosene.
People use Kerosene to clean chains on Liter class bikes, then whats a quarter liter bike compared to that? I have a GSX150F and I use Kerosene to clean the chain, even though my manual states not to. This is the only point that I go against whats stated in my manual because its been debunked in several tests that Kerosene does not affect or penetrate the O-rings and displace the grease inside the rollers.
Whats surprising is that I have PDF copies of owner manuals for the bigger siblings like teh GSXR750 and 1000 for both the newer models and the older models (93'-05') and when you go over to the Chain maintenance section, it explicitly states to use Kerosene to clean the chain, nothing else but just kerosene, not even Soapy water or Citrus degreaser as an alternative.
So if you think logically, if manufacturers advised Kerosene for their chains during that period of time, the O-ring quality would have only improved by now and as such Kerosene should have absolutely no effect on it.For My Gixxer Related videos: Click HERE

hello..another thing i read in the manual is that one should not wax the matte coloured parts of the motorcycle? does this refer to the central section of the fuel tank and the matte black colour side panels?

Himalayan has a hell lot of quality issues. But by this time may have fixed every known issues. I hope soOriginally posted by hemanta View Postyeah ppl enquire why i didnt get a bullet. if the himalayan was without issues i might have got that
By the way today i cleaned the drive chain with kerosene and then lubricated it with an O-ring chain lube. while riding it i felt as if the engine was lagging, as if something was holding her back. took her to the service centre and the mechanic told me to never use kerosene. he said something like this- the metal in the chain expands on kerosene application. then he tightened the chain. i think she ran ran better after that.

No thats y the himalayan has not been relaunched. I spoke to the dealer manager while testride of tb500, he said the company is working on the same & will be launching something called the himalayan adventure(or something like that) by September/October only.Originally posted by $Cj View PostHimalayan has a hell lot of quality issues. Wax generally best works on metallic.Originally posted by hemanta View Posthello..another thing i read in the manual is that one should not wax the matte coloured parts of the motorcycle? does this refer to the central section of the fuel tank and the matte black colour side panels?
But glossy plastic panels or OK.
Dont use it on matte parts, it will spoil the look. Like Tanks, central section, front fender, tail section.2007 - Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Guys does your rpm at idle fluctuates a bit when hot? Is idle is even? I find in my FZ a little fluctuation on cold but when hot sometimes it fluctuates and sometimes not. Odo is 230. Also the clutch is hard? My fingers starts to pain in traffic jams, lever is quite tight.| SOL 68s | Rynox Tornado Pro | Rynox Advento | Cramster TRG2 | Scoyco MC20 | Hero 5 and SJ6 |

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi all, today adjusted the headlight throw angle myself. And I'm very much satisfied with the performance of the headlight now. Have attached pics after adjustment. Hope this clears all fears about fz25 headlights.
Low beam

High beam

In real world high beam also serves the purpose nicely.
Finally loving the motorcycle more...
