FZ25 is more of a powerful commuter rather than performance bike.
D250 , if you are looking for performance oriented machine and cornering. It has 6 speed. Though FZ25 can do 100kmph @6250rpm which is similar to D250, but the fact is 6250 rpm is already beyond its peak torque rpm and hence for FZ25 engine it is bit stressed though we might not feel it. On the other hand D250 makes peak torque at 7500 rmp compared to the cruising 100kmph rpm is 6250. So you are left with another 1250rpm to reach its peak torque itself . This gives a better top end. D250 might costs you more but you will get the features accordingly.

The only thing regarding D250 is the longevity of the bike which is not know yet, since you have planned to keep for long time. I feel FZ could have priced a little less may be 3k less for what it offers.

Both has its own pros and cons, a TD for few kms would definitely clear your doubts. If possible take it for a spin on the highway.

As Dinesh said, each bike has its own pros and cons. I think the important question that should be answered is this; for what the D250 offers over the FZ25, is the premium of 60-70k justifiable? This is something that you have to answer for yourself.

        Cheers!

2.if you are a guy who hate your bike getting dirt this may irritate you. Because mudguard are not that good. Especially the front one.
          3. Be careful when pillion is sitting because if you raise throttle suddenly he will fall. ( It happened for me few days back but thank god my friend didn't any big wood he got a scratch on his left hand)
          4. You need to add extra cussion to seat to ride more Kms without hurting your butt.
These appear to be small issues that can be handled with minor mods.
There is a big difference in torque produced by Duke250 and FZ25, can you talk a bit about how that changes the utility of the bike?

Fz 25 in Bangalore costs 1.50l. In Delhi it would cost around 1.32
So I have to decide if 1.50 is justified for FZ 25.

Would D250 be good for long distance riding? I am skeptical to it because of smaller tank capacity and less mileage.

Okay, so the premium of 40k that you'll be paying for D250 for those extra bhps needs to be justified. Yeah, the tank range of D250 will definitely be less than that of FZ25. Personally I would put some more monies, say 30 or 40k more and get the D390 or would look at the Dominar rather than buying D250.

I suggest you create a new thread in "What Bike" section so that we can discuss and bring in more suggestions.

                Cheers!

There will be a difference of maximum 5kmpl between the two. And the tank capacity doesnt differ much. FZ25 may give you an additional 75km on full tank over D250.
Like i said, i strongly recommend you to take a test drive. Except for the engine capacity, both are very different. It wouldn't be a hard choice if you take a test drive of both the motorcycle since they would give a different riding experience and then you can decide whether spending extra amount is really worth for you.

You are right. I do hear different bits about the two and a test ride should make that evident enough.

As you wont be using it much for commute, Duke 250 will be a better option only by margin when compared to FZ250. (My suggestion is to look for Dominar instead if purely focused on touring).

The marginal comparison is primarily with the extra horses that Duke offers.
Rest all depends on your test rides.

Guys see this Huge and Really working Windshield on Fz and it looks so nice & complete with it. It looks better than Fazer 250.offical windshield

Also a nice addition of a small sexy Dikky is there. These 2 are very practical Mods. See it here

i am saving up for duke.

i am graduating from r15 and think only ktm makes bikes that justify purchase after r15 and are considered an upgrade to it. (i have not bought it yet so i hope i dont change my mind. waiting for rains to get over)

with that said if all you want is touring ability, its not much of a comparison. fz all the way. or something else. duke will be expensive, will give you niggles, not as comfy either.

go for duke if you want perfect connection with bike. obey all your inputs perfectly. let you dial in gas when leaned over etc.

Thats super huge! Practical for extreme tourers but it may be obstruction in traffic.

sir might i ask why fz is priced higher ? and how you concluded 3k would make it appropriately priced.

also if fz is commuter, what is dominar? slightly more powerful commuter? cause when i test rode both, they behaved similarly. only difference was a bit more power in dominar.

I would not say the headlights are the best but better than halogens. I always keep changing my mind about the headlights. Yesterday, I had lot of on-coming traffic and my headlights were shit. Could not see the light on the road. The high beam needs to be adjusted. On-coming traffic will switch to low beam once this is done. Even I am thinking of installing aux leds from Cree but maybe at a later point of time.
The headlight spread is not that great. Would never compare these with the Dominar or the D390 but well for the price you pay, you get a sweet deal.

                                Few more things,
My engine is stalling randomly. I need to get the idle rpm adjusted perhaps or maybe there could be some other issue. The idle adjustment screw is very weird. You need a spanner to do that.
Engine heat was initially there but it has reduced a lot now. I used to feel it more in heavy traffic but nowadays I feel it is fine.
The gears are becoming smooth gradually. The clutch needs adjustment.

First service is due in few days. Done 700 KMS till now.

                                Cheers
                                Hi Manish,

Can you show me which is the idling adjustment bolt if possible with a picture. Not able to find the right one based on the pictures provided in the user manual..
