Indian FZ 25 is a derivative of fazer 250 in Brazilian market. They were not seen testing it like dominor since all components were tried & tested already .

Having said above, I still think FZ would be a better option compared to dominor if you are looking for a reliable machine. Not saying dominor is a bad machine but it have still not proven the reliability in the hands of end users . There is a difference between Manufacturer testing & real world usage in the hands of end user.

Another Question to owners - Have any body tried sourcing a wind screen for FZ & what are the initial service costs .

And Dominar has a tested engine, Bajaj has launched the bike after testing it on all possible places, where there is a chance for riders to take it.

Saying this after seeing the spyshots before launch, and they launched the bike after covering over a lakh of kilometers and even testing the altitude.

      Cheers!
Yamaha has also tested fz25 in every possible terrain, for that matter every manufacturer test their bikes extensively, in case of fz25 engine has been using in other countries from long time. Dominar is new, promising too but some issues like vibes has to be taken care off.

Fz 25's engine is a 8-9 yrs old unit which they are using in off road and some road bikes like xt250 and ys fazer 250 which they are selling in various international markets from past 7-8 years....

Below are some pictures of YS Fazer 250 (2008 model) which uses the exact same engine which you can find out from the below pictures:

here is a picture showing close-up of both the engines:

Having used Zma for 60k kms, I can tell you that this is an improved version of Karizma from Yamaha

I feel people are more interested in p200 ns and rtr 200 than fz25.
I think owners are busy with their day to day life than being online in these forums. Otherwise FZ25 has already got its initial attention, not only from the Yamaha owners but also from the other brands.

Its a solid package, only thing i feel is it could have been priced 5-8k less to make it more attractive but i know its YAMAHA.

                1. Riding Comfort

Seating wise it will be good, but you need to take care of the wind blast though for your usual speed it might be minimal but again after market wind shield will be available in due course of time. There is also a hint from the Yamaha that they might consider Fazer 25, but it might not be in near future.

                7. Good headlights

Going by the feedback from owners, the LED setup is not so good for highways and i personally think white beam is not so confident inspiring compared to traditional yellow on highways unless the LED has excellent luminous density like Dominor.

Last 3 year my zma served me brilliantly including ladakh ride but it is not the bike for high altitude riding (which is my main interest in touring) due to its carb main jet issue also severe vibrations issue not resolving. Please suggest if it will be better "substitute" I know its not an "upgrade" .

One more concern I have in fz that my fz150 owner friends used to complaint lot on rear tyre punctures. Fz25 also having same compound/type tyres?

Considering having zma right now, i may get uncomfortable due to wind blast at 100kmph but after time spent i will adjust. I think serious wind blast starts after 110kmph and my cruising speed is not more than 100 in any case.

Regarding headlight output, I am sure it will be better than very poor output of zma. Aux led setup will be an advantage without fear of draining battery in factory fitted led headlight setup due to low power consumption.

Tank range of fz25 should be around 470-500km which is best of 250cc segment.

I think i should wait for couple of months for real world review of this machine.

Dont't worry about tyres. They are of different compound and they are regular tyres not radials you see on fz16.

                      .
FZ25 have same cross ply tyres which R3 has but of lower speed rating I guess.

Yamaha never wanted to use low profile tyres for this model and I think massater are radial type , low profile ones .

Massater is 140/70 bias ply tyres.

tires will be punctured on touring regardless of which brand you buy. unless you want to use eurogrip on something thats reliability based offering little grip.

i am using michelin pilot sporty on r15. durability wise am very satisfied. grip wise they let me down once. i made a mistake of not carrying enough speed on full lean angle. and they lost traction on both front and rear. once i understand their limitations i am able to exploit them for what they are capable.

Its a soft compound tyre, but with FZ25, Yamaha wanted to make it a tourer friendly too.
