  • Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences

I am not sure why many are complaining about vibrations, may be it has to do with the service centre doing a bad job??

I had my second service done at 4800 kms, and now my odo stands at 9600kms (yet to give for 3rd service). I can feel some buzz in the handlebars above 4.5k Rpm, and some buzz in the tank area and footpegs when I rev further. But I only started to feel these more after 8500kms or so, but that should be because the oil is giving up, and I havent adjusted the chain since the 2nd service.
So, between 4800-8000 kms, the bike was quite smooth, and only the resonance vibrations(inherent to all bikes) were there between 75-85, and at very high RPMs, that is above 7k+.

My last bike was the P200NS, comparatively, the FZ25 is a much smoother bike below 110Kms. 200NS was better in high speeds, mainly due to the 6th gear

For those doing the test rides, see if you can do another round from a different showroom, just to clear your doubts. And owners facing vibrations, may be you could try a different service centre.

if new rtr200 has same vibration as fz25, thn idk.
I dont know about RTR, never had a chance to test it. The only reason for me choose FZ25 is because of my pervious experience with FZS. Owned that for about 6.5 years and it was silk smooth unless reved at higher end. FZ25 is a disaster. Anyway... wrote to Yamaha about it and waiting for a response now.

I know this service center for about 7 years now. They helped me maintain by previous FZS from day 1 and now FZ25. It is their job that encouraged me to buy FZ25.

Slight buzz you are refering to above 4.5k rpm is the concern. It doesnt vibrate like RE's do but it buzz a lot. May be it feels better for you because you had something worse and this feels better or may be its a defect in my bike.. cant say it for sure.

Many say there is no vibration and same amount of them say there is vibration above 4.5k rpm and few say vibrations felt above 7k mark. May be its to do with few bikes or may be not.

It changes from engine to engine and oil to oil.

Bikes like FZ25 do not need the specified intervals. Bikes like 150cc with mineral oil will suit your schedule.

          1. bike is not smooth at all. as soon as it crosses 3k rpm it vibrates like hell till redline. even my 10 year old 125cc bajaj is smoother than this. they said it's normal. ( what the heck ?)
          2. headlight isn't really that bad as people say it is. problem is the temperature, it has white leds so it disappears in yellow light. maybe yellow film can fix this issue. but showroom guys were saying 2018 model has some improvements and its closer to yellow color. but i'll believe when I see it.
          3. that torque , omg.
          4. no need for 6th cog, 5th is really tall. ( at least for me)
          5. bike had auxiliary leds installed on leg guard. so i asked if it voids warranty of electrical system of bike ? they said as long as you install and connect charger/leds/etc. directly to the battery it only voids battery warranty alone. you still get full warranty on everything else.
          6. gear shifts are way way smooth.
          7. riding position is very comfortable. but rear suspension is very hard.
          8. brakes are good enough and i didn't feel the need for ABS.

overall i like the bike, but those vibrations are too much and doesn't really match what people are saying about it all over interwebz. maybe it was that particular bike ? idk. will test ride again a new bike once new stock arrives.
You cant expect a Test ride bike with 3800 km on it to be good.
FZ25 is is quite refined motor and will smoothen as kilometers build.

Any how, my FZ25 is close to 11000 km and it has settled down pretty well.

Mileage around 42kmpl, no vibes, low on maintanance and finally no tappets sound even under hard run.

Mine is at 5700 kms, and vibrations are going away. Rtr will give you more vibrations as it ages. And gear shifting will become a nightmare post about 10000 kms.

No offense to anyone but i dont understand the vibration thing ,vibration is not at all intense ,i have done many long rides but this slight buzz dont affect ride quality or irritate u , this is my 4th bike every bike gives buzz at certain point .

main question :is it so bad?
MY answer : not at all ,i ride happily at 80kmph with slight buzz

all my previous bikes were worse in terms of vibration when compared to fz25.

Even gixxer has buzz /vibration at the top

None taken my friend. Like i said, its pertaining to my bike only. Different people experience different things. Few report no vibration, few has a light buzz. My comparison here is with my previous bike which is again product of yamaha and it had vibration/buzz only at or above 8k rpm. My concern is i have the same amount of vibes at 4.5k rpm and it intensifies as i rev higher. Wearing a glove does minimize the feel of it, but it doesnot give a joyful riding experience.

Maybe its just my engine, its fairly new (1100 in odo) and takes time to settle down. But the idea of posting here is to get feedback and report service center if anything is unusal.

I felt there is buzz on nearly every fz25 around 4.5k-5.5k rpm range.
some guys with better engine oil may experience less buzz.

After free service go for shell engine oil ,it will reduce vibes significantly(personal experience for RE350 & AS150).

I have personally used AX5 twice for 2 diffrent bikes ,my friend used advance ultra once review is very good too.
ax5 reduced vibrations significantly in my case.

Brother, Fz25 alternator produces 162W @ 5k rpm. And this unit is same as R15.

My bike's electrical consumption is generally 110W. And not even once i faced low battery issue or something, even when I ride in city(at low rpms).

umm are you 100% sure it makes 162w ? any source ? i have read in rushlane article that it's rated for 70w.

but if it really makes 162w, then i guess it solves 1 of my problem. also how do you know it consumes 110w ?

                            thanks for info tho.

it wasn't a testride vehicle( they only gave me that since they had 0 stock of fz25 and i was calling them since a month ). it is owned by one of showroom staff guy. bike was in 10/10 condition. 38xx km on odo. and with auxiliary Leds on leg guard. and it was vibrating pretty much all over the rev range.

i'm comparing it to rtr200 which had 21xxx on odo. and that's why i was shocked. because pretty much everybody praises fz25 for it's refinement. now i'm very confused.

Edit : can someone please post service manual or owners manual ? i couldn't find it anywhere.

You bought a bike that has done more than 3k km, then you can't expect it to perform as you desire coz you don't know how it'll be handled or break in. My opinion is that you should have gone for brand new bike with odo reading of <10km. I have completed 6400 in my bike and it feels lot smoother day by day. Also reaches 100 in no time with negligible vibes. Vibes at 5k rpm reduced a lot post 2nd service.

i didn't bought it lol. i test rode it.

i test rode a bike which is owned by staff member of that showroom. because i was asking them for test ride and they didn't had any stock of fz25.

hope that's clear now. i'm yet to buy the bike. waiting for fresh stock of fz25 to testride again, only then i'll decided.
