Which one do you suggest for better grip for tours (broken roads as well as highway) and longer lasting. Slightly higher initial cost should be fine. PSD or Masseter?

Also, I have couple of more queries for FZ 25 owners -

    1. Is it true that Yamaha has changed the vendor for rear brakes for newer 2018 models? Which one do they use now?
    2. Someone mentioned FZ25 ABS launching soon, what's the timeline for this? Not Apr 2019 I hope

      Timsun or Ralco for touring.
Pirelli and Masetter are not for bad roads.

Michelin pilot Street radial. But it's expensive at ₹5800. Long lasting and can easily endure bad roads. Great for touring.

        Masseter is also similar.

          1. bike is not smooth at all. as soon as it crosses 3k rpm it vibrates like hell till redline. even my 10 year old 125cc bajaj is smoother than this. they said it's normal. ( what the heck ?)
          2. headlight isn't really that bad as people say it is. problem is the temperature, it has white leds so it disappears in yellow light. maybe yellow film can fix this issue. but showroom guys were saying 2018 model has some improvements and its closer to yellow color. but i'll believe when I see it.
          3. that torque , omg.
          4. no need for 6th cog, 5th is really tall. ( at least for me)
          5. bike had auxiliary leds installed on leg guard. so i asked if it voids warranty of electrical system of bike ? they said as long as you install and connect charger/leds/etc. directly to the battery it only voids battery warranty alone. you still get full warranty on everything else.
          6. gear shifts are way way smooth.
          7. riding position is very comfortable. but rear suspension is very hard.
          8. brakes are good enough and i didn't feel the need for ABS.

overall i like the bike, but those vibrations are too much and doesn't really match what people are saying about it all over interwebz. maybe it was that particular bike ? idk. will test ride again a new bike once new stock arrives.
The showroom guy is bluffing that its his own bike, no one will let their bike to be used by strangers,
The bike was the one given for service by customers.
even I got a 1st service done bike for TD , saw owners name on tag, they took it straight from the delivery bay.

              thanks for info tho.

it wasn't a testride vehicle( they only gave me that since they had 0 stock of fz25 and i was calling them since a month ). it is owned by one of showroom staff guy. bike was in 10/10 condition. 38xx km on odo. and with auxiliary Leds on leg guard. and it was vibrating pretty much all over the rev range.

i'm comparing it to rtr200 which had 21xxx on odo. and that's why i was shocked. because pretty much everybody praises fz25 for it's refinement. now i'm very confused.

Edit : can someone please post service manual or owners manual ? i couldn't find it anywhere.
              Yes! I am 99.99% sure it makes 162W @ 5k rpm.

I read it somewhere in this forum and also either in Training Manual or Owner's Manual.

In my Bike , Total power consumption is:-
              1. 35W Headlight.
              2. 40W Hazard.
              3. 20W Fog lights.
              4. 4W tail lamp(1W on standby)
              5. 2W for LED Auxiliary and No plate light.
              6. 5W for speedometer (approx)
              7. 12W for Additional LED strips.

So total comes out to be around 120W including Resistance offered by Wires.

Yes Fz25 have 160W generator. Just be careful because there is only 1 fuse in whole bike. Once battery start to age, chances of blown fuse will be more.

                    Sure Ankit Brother.

Also, i have seen you once mentioning about Engine valves/ Tappets noise on heating or in cold engine. As you said, Engine valves are very sensitive to temperature in Fz25.

In my Bike, Tappet noise comes when engine becomes hot after just 15min ride.

So what inlets and exhaust valve adjustment should i do?

For summers set inlet- 0.07mm , outlet- 0.10
Winters- 0.05 inlet and 0.08 outlet
Imp- ensure that svc set valves in absolute cold engine and with feeler gauge

Dont worry about noises, just engine should perform well in extreme heat conditions. If you set valve tight then you may have less noise but engine will overheat and underperform.

As per my experience after 50-60 km high speed ride, ticking and coin rattle sound become negligible if your valves are set on higher settings.

One more thing- this engine is made for hard riding, if you try to rev it slowly and smoothly you will hear noises and feel vibes. Just ride hard but safely.

Update on the vibration issue I had. Wrote to yamaha explaining the problem and they sent a chief mechanic from their development program. Took him to an open road and tested. He acknowledged the issue. Head office has asked him to send a recording on the engine nosie on each rpm. Hopefully will get to know what needs to be done by tuesday. Will keep you all updated.

That's great. Could you explain a little bit more on the vibrations you faced. Were it specific to your motorcycle or across the spectrum of all the FZ250s? Was it the tappet induced noise and vibrations are you referencing.

                                Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                                The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
