They didn't fit the clutch assembly correctly. It happened again the very next day. They took the bike and replaced the main nut. 90% of the problems are caused by the unprofessional work from SVC.Originally posted by msuthar25 View PostAny update on this? Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
After months of deliberation on what to choose and which bike to buy, I went into the KTM Indiranagar showroom to book the 250 Duke. But the very last moment, in fact after even putting down my signatures on a few papers, I changed my decision and went in for the 390 Duke and HOLY COW!
I finally have made the beast my own and it is an insane feeling! I've been dying to own an exhilarating bike for so long and I finally get my hands on this beauty! I'd always wanted to own the Yamaha RX100 but my dad bought me a Hero Honda Passion Pro back in the day when I was in college! Although it is a good bike in its own right, I always wanted the thrill of a 2-stroke and finally, after I had earned enough, I really wanted to go in for an original "Made in Japan" RX100. I had made up my mind to get one when my uncle very nonchalantly asked me if I am not interested in the Duke. How could I not be interested in what's the today's version of RX100(without the exhaust note though!). That's when I gave it another thought and decided to go in for the Duke now instead of RX100, which still most definitely exists on my plans but is now postponed(maybe next year?).
When I began considering the Duke, the 390 was definitely out of my budget but the 200 was still running the previous design. Hence, I zeroed in on the 250 Duke. I took it out for a test ride and in fact, even rented out the bike for a day and rode it through the famed traffic of Bangalore. I was totally floored but I would've really appreciated ABS on it. However, I couldn't do much about it as I was already stretching my budget for the 250! Finally, on a good ol Sunday afternoon, I took my uncle and grandpa to the KTM Indiranagar showroom(both motorbiking enthusiasts
) and there they were evidently more impressed by the 390 Duke. That's when I first began considering the 390 Duke, because of them! But it still was the 250 Duke that we paid the booking amount for and signed the initial booking documents. I told the dealership that I'd be back the next day with the remaining amount. That evening, I spoke to my uncle and grandfather again, did a bit of soul-searching and the next day, I went to the dealership and booked my 390 Duke (thanks to the loan from my mother! Love you mom!
) That's how I managed to stretch my budget from 2L to 3L and got the flagship bike of Brand KTM in India! Proud owner now, and don't feel like ever getting off my bike!

Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
The current service intervals goes like this, so every 3 months oil oil filter change is necessary ? Also the service center personnel was saying next service is in 240 days but as far as i knew the 240 days is counted from the date of purchase which means the next service is within 3 months.
km Days Days b/w each service 1st 1000 45 2nd 8500 150 105 3rd 16000 240 90 4th every 7500km 3 months 3months
Also i've covered around 7k km and my tyres are still in good condition. But i have these as the few options for future.
1) Michelin pilot street radial- I dont know how grippy it is, not as good as metz esp in wet condition. I currently live in TN where it doesn't rain much and since my primary purpose is touring i think this will be a good option as it'll last more than metz. 6k in amazon 2017 stock.
2) Stock Metz- Awesome grip but since it hardly lasts 10k so a bit tight on my pocket. Costs 5k in amazon , probably an old stock.
3) Pirelli diablo rosso ii - heard it provides the same grip as metz but lasts less. sells for 5k in amazon, probably an old stock.
What are your opinion on these tires and if anyone is from Chennai and knows any place where you can get these cheaper, do suggest

For the service intervals stick to what is specified in the manual. You are right, the no. of days are usually calculated from the date of purchase.Originally posted by muhammedr95 View PostThe current service intervals goes like this, so every 3 months oil oil filter change is necessary ? The reason for sticking to the recommended interval is to keep the warranty intact. In case you have not clocked as many km (7500km) but say just around 3-4k km, then you can skip spark plug/air filter/fuel filter change.. but do the oil+filter change.
In my experience, the fuel filter, air filter will be ok for around 6-8k km and you can change them every alternate service if the running is low. The spark plug will easily last at least 12k km, so change it around 12-14k km as a preventive maintenance, and keep the old one as a spare.
The michelin pilot street radial are good tires especially for touring. Their grip is fine, but their advantage being more puncture resistant (and lasts much longer) compared to say the mrf or the metz which are softer compounds.
The mrf revz c1 rear, is also a very good tire grip wise for the rear, but would be prone to punctures and lasts lesser than michelin but is cheaper at Rs.3800.
You could switch to the mrf revz fc1 (rs.2800) at the front (excellent front tire), while opting for the michelin (Rs.5800 - Rs.6200) at the rear.
In chennai you could head to BM Lal (near satyam theater), they usually have a wide selection of tires at reasonable rates. And when buying tires check their manufacturing date.. on the tire itself the date code will be embossed, something like 2417 (24th week of 2017) and make sure the tire is not older than a year especially if you are going in for pirelli's or other brands that aren't sold in good numbers. The mrf's and michelins sell like hot cakes, so more than likely they will be recently manufactured, but still check the date code.Last edited by s1d; 05-16-2018, 04:29 PM.

Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi i have recently added Two new accessories to my Duke 390 2018 ,
1, Puig Windshield
2, Zana Top case Rack (for easy mounting of extra bag or top case)
And i loved the way Windshield is helping me out at high speeds as i was using Avenger 220 with stock windshield i never encountered windblast past 100. It was quiet unbearable on Duke 390 so i bought it and it works like charm. Do check out the video if you are planning to install these products and subscribe for more as i am going to make videos on touring accessories and installation on Duke 390 and DIY stuff that we need to do on regular bases.
Today i did 140 kmph and with the windshield it was piece of cake.

How much did you pay for the PUIG windshield and where did you buy it from? Did you pick this dark visor or this was the only option?Originally posted by Longrides View PostHi i have recently added Two new accessories to my Duke 390 2018 ,

Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi All,
So there is an update.
I went for the 3rd servicing on my bike (MY2017). It seems KTM is making some modifications free of cost.
1. A new ECU cover is being added to the bikes. Its made from fiber and as per ASC it will prevent rain from entering the ECU and also reduce the vibration. Earlier one was a .The cover is added beneath the tank and front cowl. In the same kit, there are some rubber stumps which are a replacement for the ones beneath the rear seat. Apparently as per ASC, the current ones get teared down in some time.
2. There is another kit for Headlamp. It is supposed to prevent the vibrations coming from the head light area.
Both the kits are being added/replaced free of cost. It is replaced as a part of some pre monsoon checkup. So please followup with your ASC. I am not sure if the MY2018 bikes are already coming with these updates or not.
Only thing that puzzles me is why KTM is not making it an official update.
The software version AV42 is now available. I am not aware what new in that as when it was being updated on my bike, it started giving HLU failure. So i asked them
to not update it for the time being.
Apart from this the bike still makes rubbing noise from the front disc brake. I have complained about it from some time but no solution has been given by the KTM guys. Only response i receive is that the work has been going on that and it is a known issue. Hope for the best. Apart from this the bike works like a charm and
since the update, i have not found any vibrations in the head light area.
Regards,
J
