Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Do you think existing owners of 160 4v will have an option of retro fitting ABS after April 2019 or any other bikes for that matter for cheap price because there will be mass production of ABS units?Originally posted by #bpk View Post

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
The Apaches have the holes to fix the ABS rings. So the ABS system can be fixed without any major mods. This is not true for most other bikes.Originally posted by San1234 View PostDo you think existing owners of 160 4v will have an option of retro fitting ABS after April 2019 or any other bikes for that matter for cheap price because there will be mass production of ABS units?
I think retrofitting the ABS systems will come down to the willingness of the companies. For example, a certain company may provide ABS kits to be retrofitted in their bikes while some other company may not do so.

I doubt that, tvs can't handle fi equipped motorcycle , how will they be able to fit abs by themselves at dealer level. In large showrooms where rr 310 is available, there might be a possibility.Originally posted by San1234 View PostDo you think existing owners of 160 4v will have an option of retro fitting ABS after April 2019 or any other bikes for that matter for cheap price because there will be mass production of ABS units?

Does installing ABS units needs so much of expertise that it has to be set up at the factory? , So if there is a manufacturing defect in the ABS unit of a delivered motorcycle it'll be taken to factory for replacement?Originally posted by #bpk View PostI doubt that, tvs can't handle fi equipped motorcycle , how will they be able to fit abs by themselves at dealer level. Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Till now abs equipped rtr 200 are not available in every parts of the country, same is with rr 310, parts availability is another concern. Because of their non availability of rtr abs only ,i had to shift to another brand. TVS products are good, but their after sales service, parts availability, availability of parts , mechanic ignorance etc areain concern.Originally posted by San1234 View PostDoes installing ABS units needs so much of expertise that it has to be set up at the factory? , So if there is a manufacturing defect in the ABS unit of a delivered motorcycle it'll be taken to factory for replacement?

Yes bro as of now there is shortage of ABS units but when it becomes standard after April 2019 I think there will be enough ABS unit production.Originally posted by #bpk View PostTill now abs equipped rtr 200 are not available in every parts of the country, same is with rr 310, parts availability is another concern. Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
If you could please breif us what part was it because i own the same rtr as yours and the disc brake crying noise (either brakes applied or not) is really making me angry and worried at the same time. I have visited the service centre like 2-3 times regarding this problem but they just sprinkle water over the disc and calipers for washing it and says 'Bhaiya ye toh sab may hota hai. Har 2-3 din may disc brake dho diya kariye'. (Help needed)Originally posted by RebellionRiderRTR View PostGuys, i had an experience with my rear disc which was screaming when brakes applied smoothly or hard initially it was when hard braking but after few days it became more even with smooth press. It was been after my 1st service and when i put it up to the mechanic who handled my bike in service said that it was cos of mud accumulation in the disc area which is common in monsoons. He washed it out and put out to me but again i started facing the same issue after a while riding on clearer roads and this time i took it seriously cos it was effecting my disc performance and also my wheel free to run on roads. So after shunting on the mechanic and other superiors the mechanic came u to the conclusion that it was due to some part of the bike which i dint get to know properly which has been common to most of all Apache series machines so Apache is providing with some samples to check the bikes with this issues to be handled with this new installment. As it was a sample most of the service centers don't have ample of them to fix the thing to the machines immediately. But i dint leave the service center until i got confirmation from the service mechanic supervisor that they will get the part so i have been following for that part every single day may on on phone or meeting them physically and bashed them to get it right.
After one long week of rigorous follow ups and shunts i got the part this Monday and got it fit to the wheel and now i can say that now the bike is more smoother than before and the squeaking sounds have gone.
This was my experience but i see most of the bikes in the service center already have this issue and the service centers have no clue that when they would get the part so guys this is cautionary thing for you all bikers as well to be first to notice and get it addresses immediately before the disc gets damaged totally or the machine.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Yeah the squeaky noise is due to the dirt accumulated in the discs , you can ask your ASC to clean and pressure wash the brakes (I did yesterday) for free of cost [will work ] but the thing is we don't know how many days or weeks it will be muted!!Originally posted by RTR Rider 95 View PostIf you could please breif us what part was it because i own the same rtr as yours and the disc brake crying noise (either brakes applied or not) is really making me angry and worried at the same time. If the noise is not on higher side, just leave it or clean the brakes Manually.
Even FZ (one of my friends) is screaming like hell nowadays !!!Last edited by Aswinlogi; 12-05-2018, 10:42 AM.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
I think you can contact the showroom and ask for a new manual. If they say no, call the TVS customer care and explain your situation.Originally posted by San1234 View PostDoes anyone have the PDF file of the owners manual? Since I was one of the first customers of this bike got the owners manual for the old apache 160

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Yeah they won't give it actually ,just only a few sheets of specs, bike parts will be differing from the Apache 160 RTR Manual. It's better to have that one instead a whole book.Originally posted by San1234 View PostThey said they don't have spare one's.
Possibly I will upload those pages ASAP here buddy .

Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience
Update.
I have completed 1500 kms now. The bike is hoot to ride in city. The handling and acceleration is pretty good. Love how I zoom past traffic by filtering and twist of wrist.
On that note, I would like to add that it is right hand twist sensitive. If you give drive little spirited way, the mileage takes a drop.
Earlier, I used to get mileage around 47-48 kmpl in city traffic. Now, with little spirited riding, I get around 42-43 kmpl.
All in all, I am very happy with the performance of bike.
