    1) Issues are everywhere in the world! ! Try what's the smart way to get rid of them.
    * Let me say you that brake noise and poor headlight is the main thing most of them experienced.

    2) TVS parts are not high cost as like Yamaha and Honda. And one thing you must agree "There's no best mechanic" Who would satisfy us! ! Service quality is average and I felt good at some other ASC's ! !

    3) I trust my machine more than 100% but BTW we should be prepared at least to figure out the problem, if persists! !

    4) And I do had this doubt before buying but completely satisfied with the seat height and position. Am (6.1 ft).

If you want more detailed reviews : xD you can search over the threads posted here by various owners.

*I've completed 19000 + kms and did a lot of touring.

    * I've did 500+ kms in a single day twice and will break this feat sooner... .

I am experiencing a small engine noise issue. Noise is small as pillion cannot notice it but i can clearly hear it. No loss in engine power though
When taken to service center they said it is a tappet valve issue and some dust cleaning is required. It won't be covered in warranty. Cost is 400-500rs
Let me know if this is a common issue and should i go for the cleaning.

      • Re: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Ownership Experience

See, if it is indeed the tappet noise caused by incorrect valve clearance the service center should set the clearance right, and this is one of the items in their job list for free services. So you should not be charged. There is no such thing as dust going into valves and causing noise which can be rectified by cleaning the dust. May be they just want to charge you for setting valve clearance and telling this to mislead you. There are also chances that you are not hearing the tappet noise and something else could be wrong. I had an issue in my 1604v, some metallic vibration coming as certain RPMs and it was rectified by replacing the silencer under warranty. Apparently one of the welds inside the silencer broke which caused the vibration.

Sorry to hear mate! Hope nothing serious happened to you and the bike. It always pains me to see or hear about two wheeler accidents because I have had couple of them a few years back, and learned some unforgettable lessons. Even today when I cross a certain speed for the given riding condition (road surface, traffic, available light, familiarity with the road etc) I get that tingly feeling that causes me to slowdown. Whatever the temptation be avoid overtaking on blind curves, swift lane changes or zig zag driving in city traffic or squeeze between opposing traffic lanes. Remember we are the most vulnerable on our roads, be it the pathetic condition of roads or rash driving of bus drivers and autorikshawallas who seem to think they can stop or turn whereever they want. Only way to deal is defensive riding, that is make sure you dont make a mistake and more importantly you watch out for others mistakes as well.

Yeah completely agreed on your saying bro!! coming to my case, its been to a 2 month rest as I got multiple fractures in my left hand and the bike got a damage to speedometer and clutch I hope.

Anyway now I realized the use of RIDING KIT and I'll be more responsibile rider in future.

PS: ALL XBHPIANS PLEASE BUY A GOOD Helmet, gloves, shoes, jacket, guards at least by emi.

As we are living in a Country with pothole filled roads, blind highways these things will minimize the damage at some margin.. ! !!

That's very disheartening buddy. Can you share how the accident occurred, if it's fine with you?
Hope you get well soon and get riding again with all safety.

                    Hi, guys this is Tarun.

My RTR 1604v is one and half years old. After 4th service my mileage went down to 36. Usually it gives more than 40. After 5th service raises to 39 and 40. Suddenly, again went down to 36 and 35. I suspected the engine oil and replaced it with Motul 10w40. Still no improvement and I tuned my carb, it became 30. Again cleaned carb then I re tuned my carb I got 40 but on very lean mixture even bike started to misfire. Now I went to TVS, they set 3.5 Turns. Mileage went to 30 again. Changed my 2500 km old spark plug. I’m suspecting my engine valve clearance. coz, can find some vibrations and less mileage.

Yesterday filled petrol for 100 rs - 1.3 litres. Still I have petrol in tank and bike ran 47 km faced some traffic too. Didn’t kill engine in long signals today.

Hello xBhpians, I have bought a Apache 160 Fi 4v ABS (Black) on 23/10/19. Liked the bike overall but I have an issue regarding the seat height as my height is around 5”6’ so as the rear mono shock is a 5-step adjustable unit, Can I get it adjusted accordingly to my comfort?

I have ridden around 50 KMS on the bike until now
Need suggestions on protecting the tank, Muffler guard from pillion rider’s footwear which is causing scratches on the same.

Hello Guys, My dual disc Carb model is 4 Months old and has completed two free services as per schedule. Off late, i have had issues with False neutrals and having to shift twice while shifting up. This has been irritating while going at high speeds. Furthermore, this past week onwards, i havent been able to start the vehicle in gear by holding the clutch and using the self start. What do you think could be the issue?

                          1) check your chain slackness. Tight it as much as possible and ride for 3 kms (you’ll feel hard to shit gears. But that’s okay) and clean the chain then adjust the chain with 1 inch of vertical slackness. And lubricate.

                          2) take a look in your clutch lever holder by removing the clutch lever out . There’ll be a switch in that lever assembly. When you pull the clutch lever the button should be released then it allows the self start motor to work. And when you leave the clutch, the button will be pressed and opens the sled motor circuit which disconnect the motor.

Try vertically tapping the clutch lever holder and body(while the lever is pulled) on the handle bar. Thus the vibration can help you to release the button.

Cut the seat if height is your problem. It will help a little. Mostly all seat cover shops will do the job. And adjusting suspension to softest setting will not be of much help until a pillion rider is seated which lowers the mono shock a bit. You can adjust it yourself only if you have the right mono shock spanner (C type). Else tell the service guy to do it. There will be a small paint dot on the mono shock adjustable steps which indicates the factory setting. So you will know looking at it later if the service guy did anything atall to it.
However, soft setting is dangerous on high speeds as the vehicle tends to jump and feel uncontrollable.

Tank cover for 160 4V is available in bike accessories/helmet shops.
No muffler guards so far. If you like, do a vinyl wrap of your silencer. Else wait a couple of months until your mind is out from the honeymoon period you are currently having with your bile. You will stop bothering about these silly scratches

When fitting the 55/60 watt bulb to 160 4V carb... other than a normal swap of bulb is there any other alteration to be made?
