      • RTR180 mileage..

        @chicane n other 180 owners
        Guys..
I get mileage of only 30-33km per litre..
        Am disappointed with it..
I never managed to get above 35..
I hve touched high speeds of 120 doubles ...
is it because of the pick up it causes mileage to decrease..
DO all 180s give the same milege..??
Am at coimbatore and the TVS service center isnt good..
        Plz help..

My Friend too was experiencing less mileage....But it was because the Choke Valve was slightly opened.....means that lever was not to its initial position...may be that would be the reason for fuel related issue...

Is this the mileage you are getting while ripping or under normal conditions. In normal conditions(below 6k rpm) the bike should give 40-42kmpl.I get below 33-35 in insane ripping mode and close to 45kmpl when i go 'sane' on the bike!!

If it doesnt improve with change in riding style(read:sober) then probably your tuning is rich. Also clean/check the spark plugs.Btw, how much kms has your bike covered till date?

I just logged in to type the same thing!
I never get mileage over 30-32kmpl and today i recorded even worse than this..25.something..!..Don't know what's the matter but yeah if riding and shifting @ 5-6k rpm is sane driving then i am definitely not into it..mostly i shift gears at 8-9k..
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

                • that's definitely ripping my friend...try to ride it a bit sanely and record the mileage figure that you're getting. If it doesnt improve,it might be tuning IMO...

                  • There is something wrong with your tuning.... Even after ripping till I went into reserve from full tank I've got mileages not less than 37 kmpl. Get your AFR checked...

                    • Also i forgot to mention that the bike's mileage takes a heavy beating when it comes to city mileage-ripping.The mileage drops below 35kmpl but on highway even if you ride at over 8k rpm for most of the time the bike still manages to give close to 40kmpl.

The frequent shifting of gears (read:clutch usage) takes a heavy toll on the bike's mileage.Try to open up the carb and tune it and do it only if you are sure of the mechanic's repute.

                        It has covered 3777 kms...
I cross 80 sometimes when driving is it the reason..
and guy my side battery cover is not locking properly now..
i mean there is something missing inside..
even if i lock it with my keys the cover is still missing...
Will there be a spare for it..

                        • AFR is perfect and the idle engine speed is 1500 or less.
Do you people think there's anything related to carburetor or something else?

And i don't think i use clutch unnecessarily but if it's B-2-B traffic..What else can you do then burning the clutch?..Secondly,even if i rip the bike like hell..there shouldn't be that much fall in the figures i believe!

unless and untill you do wheelies, burnouts, and ride with half clutch, you just cannot burn your plates before 20000kms....

                            @ ALL

if you're gettin an avg of 35-40 kmpl with all kind of driving, it's pretty much good and satisfying for a 180cc 17 PS engine that shows you a 12000 at the tacho.

Let wheelies be changed with drags! and the rest i always do!..(Occasionally)
Half-clutch has been the problem with my friend who rides the bike sometimes but he's been scolded and told not to do that..
Also,i hardly drive single...does that make any difference?

                              • Sorry to deviate the current topic... but I need a help guys. Earlier I had an HID kit installed. But today I removed it (cop magnet, conscience prick). It was a bit complicated locating the original wirings . Now, the problem is that, of the three wires in the headlamp cable set, one (black) has been cut mid way, and the connector is also missing. Also, now both the filaments light up at the same time (which I suspect they shuffled the pins). i checked at the SVC, but they do not have stock of the headlamp cable set. I've ordered for one. Now coming to both filaments lighting up - if anyone has experience with the config of the connector pins can you give me some idea?

Lets say the connectors on the bulb are like below
                                |_|

I assume the center one is the common terminal??? to which one do the connect the black wire? left or right?

                                help me plz....
