The Tribe gets a new member!
Ever since I came across TVS Apache RTR 180(OD, BikeINDIA, Autocar, ********** etc etc..and not to forget TV ads), it became epicentre of my Motorcycling world.
I have dreamt day and night of owning one since then.
Destiny had its own ideas and I had to wait till April 2010!!
Well, I bought my Pearl White coloured dream machine on 12th April 2010 from Sri Shankar TVS Motors, Hassan, Karnataka.(I didn't have the patience to buy the same from my place since the dealer would have asked me to wait for a day or two!). After the formalities, I rode it to my hometown, Sakaleshpur, which is an hour away.
The same evening, I took it to Sakaleshwara temple and a pooja was performed. Within 4-5 days, I completed 200kms.
I had to transport the bike to Pondicherry where I am presently doing my research.
SADDLE SORE:
17th April: Sakaleshpur to Bangalore, 250kms, 7 hours.
First service at Ashwa TVS Motors, Banashankari, Bangalore at 450kms.
Engine oil and Filter were replaced. Also, got a coating of Teflon.
18th April: Bangalore to Pondicherry, 350kms, 10 hours.
Presently, the odometer reading is 860+kms.
Other details: Run-in period - Speeds of below 50
Mileage (Overall) - 44 and still running.

Its the timer that is resetting itself. The speedo restarts at times when i switch off and on the killswitch button.Originally posted by chicane1879 View PostResetting as in what Km/hr display or the timers?
If it's the speeds then replace the speedo assembly immediately!!You can only ride better tomorrow if you ride safe today.

Well these are the signs of a supposed-to-give-up-soon speedo. Get ready to replace it and take the most out of warranty. Wish TVS does something in improving the reliability factor in this front.Originally posted by theguitarfreak View PostIts the timer that is resetting itself. The bike was great when it rolled out of the showroom. Thanks to TVS Mysore plant. After the first service, vibrations are pretty much evident! Did the SVC fellas do some adjustments which resulted in this? Is it going to taper after the second service?Last edited by Makky; 04-22-2010, 03:00 PM.

Vibrations are something that you will have to get used to because there isnt any way in which the vibrations will absolutely disappear. It may be reduced to some extent but it will always be evident. But trust me, you will get used to it after sometime.Originally posted by Makky View PostThe bike was great when it rolled out of the showroom. Thanks to TVS Mysore plant. @chicane: i just switched to veedol swift 10w40 engine oil. But couldnt see any noticeable drop in the vibration levels as u had mentioned. Maybe it will take some kms? But one thing is for sure, the gear shift way smoother with the castrol power 1.You can only ride better tomorrow if you ride safe today.

Yes like as guitarfreak has mentioned there is any concrete solution to completely eliminate it but yes you will need to find ways to overcome it. From which areas do you experience vibratons in your bike?Originally posted by Makky View PostThe bike was great when it rolled out of the showroom. Thanks to TVS Mysore plant. No, you wont notice immediate change after you switch to another engine oil in refinement department except for the gearshift quality/clutch engagement. You need to clock at least 500kms to know how good/bad the engine oil is!!Originally posted by theguitarfreak View Post

Mostly from the handle bars(clip-ons) and the foot pegs. Actually, I can very well 'live' with it but its just that I observed.Originally posted by chicane1879 View PostYes like as guitarfreak has mentioned there is any concrete solution to completely eliminate it but yes you will need to find ways to overcome it.
