  • Hey Guys bought Grey Apache RTR 180 today evening.
There were two colors, white and grey, but my friends suggested that Grey looks better than white so took grey apache 180.
Thanks to all of you for your help and support.
Can you tell me at what speed should i ride my bike for 1000 kms, is it below 40 km/hr or 4k rpm.
And i want to change my stock Tyre as soon as possible, i knw about R15 read and p220 front, are there any better option other than these two?
When approaching a corner, stay on the gas until you see Jesus. Then brake HARD.

Both the bikes are totally different. Apache 180 will be best commuter tobe choosed under 200cc segment and above 200cc+ P220 rules nonetheless.
yes i know both are vfm ones, but am asking abt maintenance

It is fairly equal to maintain both the machines. Like, both will need disc pads for front and rear, oil in P220 will be a little more than 1.2Ltr, P220 has extreme cheap parts too. I donot know about the prices of A180, but P220 are damn cheap.

            CONGRATULATIONS.

For the first 1000KMS do not exceed 4000RPm.

It is maximum of 50kms/hr for first 1000kms. Keep changing the speed and rpm all the time but don't rip the bike.
I believe you have the manual given by TVS. Take sometime off and go through in detail.

manual has 4 lines detail for the running in.
For the first 450 kms dont exceed 4000RPm, after the oil change, take your bike to occational trips to 5000RPm, then leave the accelarator in 5th and let power trail off gradually, ride with varyting RPMs at each of the 5 gears till 1000Kms never exceeding 4500RPM for long time, do this till 1000kms, get your oil changed again and then welcome to the rip club.

                • It's hard to keep it under 4k rpm! I maintained my bike under 5k for first 500 kms. Ripped it once and now under 5.5k rpm till I finish 1000.

I could not agree with you more on the bold part.

                    • The RTR comes to 5000RPM so quickly that it's almost impossible to keep it under 4000RPm sometimes specially once the engine hits the optimum temp.

Still the high RPM rush of RTR read above 8000RPM is not as smooth as the bloody PULSAR.

The RTR shows strain after 8500 but the PULSAR flies to it's 10000 mark.

                      • Did any one tried using R15 rear tyre(Zapper S) on RTR 180?
Is it really worth changing the stock tyres to a soft compound tyres, will it take the handling of RTR to next level?
I read lot this form and came to know that lot of people are feeling that stock tyres of RTR 180 are not good.
And do suggest me which are the best tyres for RTR 180.

                        • 4th Service done..
Worst service ever! I don't think they did anything with the bike but wash and polish it back..Gear-shift is notchy, rear pads faded, front squeals like mad..they were not able to rectify any of the problems I complained about..

But the major problem I've felt after this service is the bike accelerates stressfully.I mean Can anyone tell me at what rpm bike does what speed?..Like mine does 80-85 in 6.1-6.2k..!

I have the Zapper S on my RTR 180 and also the Zapper FS on the front. Both are doing their job really really well. Please do change the stock TVS tyres. They are ok on dry roads but damn risky on wet and especially since the monsoon is approaching. Both the Zappers have excellent wet grip. The Zapper S really takes the handling of the bike to another level. Trust me on this. I have used the stock TVS tyres, Zapper S and Zapper Q and thats what i felt.

check for the clutch play, is it right?
spray both the pads with high pressure water to get rid of the squeal.

The bike feeling under stress indicates clogged air filter, open the side panel and look at the condition of the air filter by yourself.
