I dont think this will affect bikes as much as it affects cars, as car tires have more surface contact area than a bikes tire which is curved and can cut through water easily.Originally posted by incipient View Post

maybe but its quite a moment when it does happen!Originally posted by kantu View PostI dont think this will affect bikes as much as it affects cars, as car tires have more surface contact area than a bikes tire which is curved and can cut through water easily.
anyway, it happened to me on a splendor once and have been very careful since then.
hasn't occurred on my r15. the grip from the tires is pretty good even in the wet. even when it starts to slide its controllable.
so maybe it's depends on the tire too.
btw, i know some racers have used the rear tire from the r15 v1 on the apache with success. what other tire options are available for the rtr?

Need help,
The bike tilts to left, you take your hand off or if you don’t plunge onto the handle, it just takes a left turn.
Going crazy about this. Any Bangalore SVC that can help me out in solving this??
My bikes front shocks are in good condition.
When i apply the front brake, the bike (front part) kinda keeps bouncing(jerks). As if the pistion are holding and letting go at the same time, Could this be a problem with the front pistons?
I can feel this jerks or bouncing while on slow speeds, like 20.
I'm fed up of going to Tristar TVS, the customer service is good-but the mechanics problem resolution is not worth.

Must be used by local kids in Kerala who try to copy people and act cool.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostSlept the bike -

All I meant was I tried to tilt it as much as possible while cornering. And I respect and love my bike. Won't allow it to touch the road just to see sparks fly.

The TPS issue is back again, which is felt sometimes between 3k to 4k rpm.Why don't TVS come up for a solution on this? This is the 3rd time i am going to replace it

LOL. 3rd time for you, 5th time for me(It comes back after every 7-8K kms or so). Now I have given up. I now shift my bike at 5K RPM. I have forgotten whats it like, riding at less RPMOriginally posted by Krish1417 View PostThe TPS issue is back again, which is felt sometimes between 3k to 4k rpm.Why don't TVS come up for a solution on this? This is the 3rd time i am going to replace it
. Thank God I am still getting milege above 40KMPL.
I did 4 different things in my last 4 atempts.- Carb cleaning(this was least effective, and lasted the least), TPS cleaning, TPS changing, Getting rid of Choke Cable.
Now have run out of option, of what will I do next. Hence avoiding rides at 2-3K RPMs....
If you havnt done these things, Id advice you to do....Last edited by sambit; 03-08-2013, 08:35 AM.HH Dawn - TVS Star City - Yamaha Gladiator - TVS RTR 180 - Honda CBR 250R - Yamaha R3

Is the TPS issue existent only in RTR180 or does it exist in RTR160 too? Cause I have never faced the TPS issue in 11.2K km...Originally posted by sambit View PostLOL. 3rd time for you, 5th time for me(It comes back after every 7-8K kms or so). Now I have given up. Well, frankly I believe its not a TPS issue. Its something else. And as for you, I would say , wait, just a matter of time, You will start facing it .Originally posted by pcgamer View PostIs the TPS issue existent only in RTR180 or does it exist in RTR160 too? Well If am scaring you, dont worry, its not that big an issue. You will eventually get used to it, and totally forget it after some time.
(Like the vibs).
And may be, the 160s dont have that prob. 160 Owners can enlightenus....Last edited by sambit; 03-08-2013, 11:26 AM.HH Dawn - TVS Star City - Yamaha Gladiator - TVS RTR 180 - Honda CBR 250R - Yamaha R3

How exactly do you know if you have the tps issue.? Do you mean the popping sound when the accelerator is released without holding clutch on a low gear.?Originally posted by Krish1417 View PostThe TPS issue is back again, which is felt sometimes between 3k to 4k rpm.Why don't TVS come up for a solution on this? This is the 3rd time i am going to replace it

Yes .. This is my only complaint too... I don't get any confidence riding my bike in wet roads.. It skids a lot even is low speeds... :-( Me too thinking to change tyres....Originally posted by Prithvi R View PostToday it rained after a good 4 months in Bangalore (at least in and around my surroundings :P). I was on my way from college to home. The road was just a little damp thats it. On my usual route there is a flyover where we usually ride around 40 - 50KPH for around 5KM. After that part we enter the normal slow moving traffic part. The road was quite greasy here. As soon as I entered that road the rear end lost traction completely :O I was doing just 25 - 30 KPH and my bike is fishtailing OMG. At first I thought it was a puncture, but No. It's our TVS tyres. I had my nuts, heart and everything in my mouth at that moment lol. I don't know if its my riding style or not but just could not ride the bike at all. I was losing traction even under acceleration. My tyres are just 11K KM old. What do you guys say? Should I buy new tyres or should I tweak my riding style?Drink Coffee and Drive!!

I did the servicing last week and had told the mechanic that i feel a lag at 3k-4k RPM.Instead he cleaned the carburretor and said that the TPS is fine.Originally posted by sambit View PostLOL. 3rd time for you, 5th time for me(It comes back after every 7-8K kms or so). Change it. The jerks will go away for next 6-7 K kms. it costs around Rs.450 IIRC.Originally posted by Krish1417 View PostI did the servicing last week and had told the mechanic that i feel a lag at 3k-4k RPM.Instead he cleaned the carburretor and said that the TPS is fine.

I was facing exactly similar problem. My bike was tilting towards left which was because of rear wheel misalignment. I told manager at Tristar to correct the alignment and that fixed it.Originally posted by huntphani View PostNeed help,
The bike tilts to left,
This must be because of bent disc plate. It was as if I had a mechanical ABS :P SVC told me to change the plate and it costs 1200. I took it to a mechanic and he smoothened the disc a little using lathe. This solved the problem but I would recommend getting the plate changed if that is the culprit in your case.Originally posted by huntphani View PostWhen i apply the front brake, the bike (front part) kinda keeps bouncing(jerks).
