If the Victor wouldn't have clicked then we could have not seen any of the so-called RTRs and other products from the company. That was the bike which gave TVS the tag of a successful motorcycle manufaturer. My bike's performance even after close to 8 years is simply awesome. It hits 100km/hr and also gives the present low-powered 125cc bike sleepless nights.Heck, it is the brilliance of the Victor that force my brother to go for the RTR and so do my couple of my friends who still swear by it.
About the RTR series not finding acceptance amongst the public, remember it's targeted to the enthusiasts who are always a minority. A typical profile of RTR Customer is totally different than say a Pulsar. You can imagine anyone riding a Pulsar but not a RTR, why? Because A normal rider or commuter would never appreciate/understand/consider the functions of sporty position, petal discs, stiff suspension, short stroker motor etc. and will directly compare with a Pulsar.Heck he wont be aware of the fact that TVS has a racing arm of it's own. RTR series caters to a limited segment of customers who are enthusiasts. A typical commuter would instead go for the Pulsar because it has better ride quality and comfortable if he wants a powerful bike.
Also one more thing to be blamed is the herd mentality prevalent amongst Indians. Just like the Splendors/Passions are invincible in their arenas so are the Pulsars which are unbeatable.
Profile of a RTR Customer: Loves speed and the dose of adrenaline rush, doesn't care much about the looks.Understands basic technical jargons associated with the bike.Believes in value for performance per rupee spent. Doesnt want to suffer from identity crisis.
Profile of a Pulsar Customer(upto P180/200):Loves speed and wants style from the bike. Wants a smoother, comfortable yet powerful machine. My friend has one and so will i. Believes in value for money.
A P220 Customer is completely different from the <200cc Customer of Pulsar because of the absence of serious alternatives.
Profile of a Honda Customer: I dont care.I am riding a Honda. Everything else is a $hit!!
Disclaimer: Those are purely my opinion and the profile nature mentioned might not be true to the xbhpian owners of those bikes.
