  • TVS's quality was good when it was with SUZUKI, i mean look at the FIERO's with SUZUKI itched on the tank and then look at the FIERO's with TVS on the tank and you can make out the diff between the two.

Look at the original IND-SUZUKI, i mean if you can still get it from somewhere, look at the finish of the chrome the bike had, if it was IND-TVS it would have been a diff story all together.

Most of the RTR's flaws may have been given a tag as the charaterictics, namely VIBRATIONS, MISSING IN THE FI, NOTCHY GEARBOXES, AND ROUGH ENGINE, but they are flaws.

And cuz of the above mentioned things my DAD hates to ride my bike cuz he was in habit of riding a smooth machine (FIERO), it's not cuz he was uncomfortable about the riding position or the ergonomics, it was just the engine and the gearbox that put him off.

Apart from it there are still many issues which should be sort out in RTR like the paint, specially in alloys and the engine section area,(FINS), digital speedo failture, one way clutch in the 180, swingarm rusting issues, battries plates going (mainly cuz of the vibrations) etc.

Even BAJAJ is coming up well with the new crop of PULSARS it's throwing to the market, my friends have 150's and 180's pulsar and even after 4 years of ownership nit a single issue of rusting was there.

This is where YAMAHA wins,it's charging more for the bikes line up it has, but on the quality and everything front it's unbeatable, why not INDIAN do the same thing if a japanese can do it??

    Oh i forgot.....
    "CHALTA HAI"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'am a hardcore RTR fan, but i'am also not happy about somethings of the bike...

    • Just to add up to conversation, here i would like to compare my Victr with RTR on quality issues.

      1. Gearbox and Clutch- The victor gearbox is butter smooth. It shifts when you want and how you want. I have never got false neutral or had to blip for shifting. With RTR, no gear change is smooth. All shifts i feel are with two steps and downshifting demands the blipping. Crank case they use is of aluminium alloy. i appreciate that. But the thread depth all round is shorter than required. 2 bolts of RTR oil filter came out with thread, which never happened with victor.
      2. Electricals- Switches on my Victor are functionally as good as new. I have never opened them to clean the electrical point for cause of improper contact. I have opened switches of RTR twice for same reason. Wires on victor are still perfectly conductive.
      3. Headlamp- For victor, the beam throw is just perfect. With RTR, spread is gr8 but intensity is poor.
Coming to paint quality, Panels and tank are new. but my old tank, which is lying there in back yard under sunlight and rain, merely have any rust spots. RTR do not have any rusting yet.
      4. Chassis welding.- If i open victor, i never see any weld spatter. But with RTR, its near all welds under tank and seat.
      5. Speedo console- Victor one is still performing perfectly, while RTR is runing 3rd.

Between victor and RTR, though i use RTR on 85% riding, still i "TRUST" 7.5 year old victor more than 1.5 year old RTR.
There's lot to it other than saddle....

You should ask this question in P220 thread. I own a P180 and the parts quality is not a concern till one gives the bike regular check-up's. And even if the parts are required to change, they are damn CHEAP.

                  • Even i am facing hiccup problem in bike, which started after 1500 kms. May be it will get solve after cleaning the carb.
Yesterday even after giving full throttle the bike was not able to go beyond 119 km/hr, winds were not the problem as in same condition the bike has went upto 129 km/hr. Is this because carb need to be cleaned or something else.
Also the rear disc has lost its bite.

In the 3rd service ,the svc guys tuned ma carb for a better mileage thus i got some hiccups in low range rpm, rectenly tuned by a well experienced mechanic and the hiccup problem vanished,i recommend u to tune ur bike with a experienced mechanic

Is this how TVS wants to compete with Bajaj and Hero Honda? Most of the post 2010 manufactured P220s are coming out problem free as people are saying at the ownership thread of P220. And lets not say anything about Hero Honda. I know its normal to have a few problems in some bikes but in each and every one of them? These things are make me lose the respect for TVS day by day.
I dont feel any quality issue with rtr(7 months old),all the problem faced with the bike is due to my bro`s riding habit, presently giving some problem with starter hope it will be some wiring/clutch problem, will be sorted out soon..

Yes, I faced them too, 2 times to say. But, at every service I mention them and after taking the bike back from SC the problem was solved. Looks like the carburetter cleaning issue and sparks plug cleaning issue(I am not sure). But, go to a good roadside mechanic and ask him to clean the carburetter as the SC guys might not have cleaned it when you mentioned the problem to them.

                              • Man i am getting pissed off at this company more day by day. Yesterday morning i took my bike for the 4th free service and the svc guys asked me to keep the bike for 2 days to get it serviced. I said "F off" in my mind and headed straight to the showroom from where i bought the bike. I told the attitude of the svc guys to the salesman who sold me the bike and told him strictly that i would be forced to sell the bike if this continues. He gave the address of another svc and asked me to take the bike the next morning which was today. So i took the bike today morning and this time also i was asked to keep my bike and take delivery in the evening.

I decided not to visit the TVS svc again for servicing even if i had to pay extra money for the service from outside. Instead i contacted an xbhp member and took an address of a castrol bike zone svc. I was pretty pleased with the servicing. The guy there told me that my bike's clutch plate has worn out and i need to replace them to have better pickup and decrease in vibration. Im giving second thoughts to it. The brakes have lost bite. The disc pads still have quite a bit left and even after proper bleeding i didnt find the brakes to be as razor sharp as they used to be before. The hiccup problem at 3k rpm has also come back. Im cursing myself more and more everyday for buying this bike.
