I would say faulty electronics/electricals. The engineering is the same as what we have found in the 160. The compatibility of the TCi-Starter motor is the culprit here.Originally posted by rennycornelius View Postyes why only RTR180??
why not RTR160,P220,star city,Fiero etc???
i think it's a bad case of stinking engineering in case of the RTR180.
And in case you didnt know the initial batches of 2009 manufactured P220 DTSi did have one-way clutch failures.
Btw the TVS Tru Chain Spray has one more benefit. It acts as a deodarant for the bike. The strong aroma remains for couple of days.

Chicane brother AFAIK it was 2 years or 30000kms when i bought the bike.Originally posted by chicane1879 View PostDude, the warranty period is for 2 years or 40000kms, whichever is earlier. Don't worry. Dont explain it to mechanic, explain it to some senior service personnel.
I dont know why but i have seen many of the RTR owners unaware of the exact warranty period.
Has it changed? If it is than its good for us man.

Renny, 1/4th throttle will be too high. Throttle to rev engine upto 2-2.5k is enough.Originally posted by rennycornelius View Postthen how about givin it a 1/4 accelerator treatment while thumbing???
yes why only RTR180??

@ Chicane, read it. i have posted possible cause for higher problems in RTR180 in the thread. Problem is faced by RTR160 owners also. ask onlinesatish, satyenpoojari.Originally posted by nox2505 View PostConcept behind one way clutch:
when driven side comes to life, it must rotate faster than driver.
Driver: Starter rotates engine at around 1050 RPMs
Driven: Crank shaft- It MUST rotate at speeds atleast 100-150 RPM faster than driver. (Thats why TVS recommend 1400+/- 200 RPMs)
Theory of SVC guys:
Lower the idling RPM, better fuel efficiency (Dont know which bugger on earth gave this theory to them)
Thus after every service, they set idling RPM at 1000 or so, which is nearly equal to driver or some times lesser than that. Ultimately, this results in jamming of one way clutch and all the problems. RTR180 Engine having lower Bore:Stroke ratio than RTR160, is capable of idling at lower RPMs than RTR160 (No need to explain SVC guys set it even slower).
Preventive measures:
1. Set Idling RPM near to 1400 (in cold condition also, engine must run at 1200 RPMs atleast.
2. Use kick starter when cold, or if bike is not used for 3-4 hrs. And if you want to use starter only, trigger the starter with little throttle open and release immediately as engine comes to life.
That was my analysis. real fact may be same or different.
There's lot to it other than saddle....

Lets hope TVs rectifies it in the new batches of the 180's like the BAJAJ did with the 220.Originally posted by chicane1879 View PostI would say faulty electronics/electricals. All righto.Originally posted by nox2505 View PostRenny, 1/4th throttle will be too high. Throttle to rev engine upto 2-2.5k is enough.
But i'am in habit of giving a 1/4 accelerator while starting a bike right from my FIERO days, in FI it throws the needle to 4000RPM at the startup then i warm the engine at 2000 RPM for 1 min by looking at the watch. The Magician"

which color did u book
Its been two days since the bike was delivered.Drove about 20kms
.Busy with college work so couldnt drive a lot.Found the braking and handling excellent.Fuel indicator is quite unreliable.Done a top speed of 61.
Was driving my friend's Old Discover for few months which has a totally different gear shift pattern. So bit struggling with the lowering of gear alone. Will perfect it in this weekend with a long drive.

Does anyone know the sprocket sizes of the RTR 180? What is the no. of teeth on front sprocket and what is the no. of teeth on rear? My RTR Fi is in for a replacement and am looking for options. RTR Fi is 13 - 44 FYI. IIRC the rear sprocekt is 46T. What is the front sprocket size? Is it 13/14?Democracy is when 2 wolves and a sheep meet to decide who is for dinner. I had my bike's first service yesterday...i had done 430 kms till then....
i gave the bike to the svc early in the morning and asked if they could service it in front of me....to which they said that it would take three hours....also the svc guys asked me to get a 3M teflon coating for Rs 165...to which i refused...(since i have bought polish, wax and shampoo for her already)..since i had to go to office i had to leave my bike but i asked them to change the engine oil in front of me when i get back...also i enquired that whether they will be changing the air filter to which they said yes...
the estimated cost was 270 including air filter change....after 2 and a half hours i returned and got the oil changed...and the final bill was 230....when i inquired why so they said they have not changed the air filter the mechanic said that since my bike has done only 430 there is no need.
following a post on this thread i asked them to change it nevertheless but they said they are out of air filters....had to agree....i m hoping that it doesn't cause any problem....
overall my bike is running fine...no hiccups or any problem that i can feel...
...i am getting a mileage of 35 in the city......

I believe you meant oil filter, not air filter. I would advice you to get the oil filter changed, since it is the first service. Get it done outside, should not be a problem.Originally posted by pankajsingh5k View PostI had my bike's first service yesterday...i had done 430 kms till then....

Hey Guys. From few days my bike is running very heavy. It fills like it doesnot want to pull at all. Feels like something is hindering is holding it back and pulling it back. Have checked the rear wheel and its moving free so there is no issue of rear brackes causing this. All the time i feels like the tyre is punctured but have checked that also and there is no sign of it. Is it something in the Engine? Any idea guys whats happening here.
Thanks for help brothers.

I have clocked around 9500kms but have never adujsted tappet clearance. Never had an issue like this so i doubt even the svc guys have adjusted it although bike had 4 free services. One good day bike was running fine and all of a sudden after riding for 15 kms this problem creep in and since that day its increasing day by day.Originally posted by nox2505 View PostWhats the tappet clearance you are running right now?
So is it because of tappet clearance thing or something else?
