ABS module problem

Hey Guys..

seems to be some problem with the ABS module. The light suddenly starts glowing continuously while riding. I had to switch off/on the ignition couple of times to get the module functioning back. Also once switched off, seems some problem switching on the ABS. this has happened 3 times in the last 10 days.

What can be the issue here?

Also another thing i noticed on my way back home. After starting the bike, the ABS module is O.K. Once i apply the brakes, there is some pulsation in the rear brake pedal. That's the ABS in work. Once those pulsations come in play, the light GLOWS ON continuously.

Dude I just clocked 4500+ Km in my 5-month-old RTR ABS today. This has never occurred in my bike even once. I am sure that your ABS module has developed some issue. Get it to the ASC immediately and get it replaced.

yes man,its a fact,if rear wheel diameter is increased,the milage increases.
mine now gives around 43 kmpl(previously it was 40).with a minor drop in performance....

Your low milage problem seems to be a unique one...though I have never faced such an issue,so cant comment...

Guys, what's the run-in period you followed for your bike? The manual has clearly mentioned that I should maintain a maximum of 50 kmph till the first 1000 kms, but the showroom guy told me after the first servicing, I can drive it normally and go faster. How much kms did you do before taking it about 50 kmph? Need your opinions, because I don't want to practice something wrong just because 'someone' advised me.

IMO, you should definitely follow what the users manual says as regards running in of your RTR 180. I did ride like that. After 1000km, should gradually increase the speeds to 60-80-100kmph. Take around 500km to increase speeds like that. Experienced bro's may please correct if I'am wrong. Me still a Noob here

First thing : dont always watch speedo/tacho meter when riding

not exactly 50kmph , maintain 4k rpm till 1000km , then take it to higher rpms gradually, and do proper gear shifting shift up at 4k rpm shift down if it goes below 3k rpm .

What are the indication of a worn chain?

My chain tightens and loosens on its own. And I can hear a kut-kut sound whenever I rotate the rear wheel... The chain has some tight spots and loose spots. Spent an hour today trying to set the chain right but in vain... Visually the chain looks in pretty good shape.

What is the lifespan of a chain? It's already done 17.5k. I am planning to change it around the 20k mark.

Take a look at the rear sprocket. Does the chain links mesh well with the teeth? Also the sprocket teeth shouldn't be wavy and sharp at the end too.

Also, grab the chain at half way through front/rear sprocket and try to pull it up and down. Ideally it should move 1 inch both ways. If the play is too long, tighten the chain. Always check this with bike turned OFF.

Anyway's, the life span of a well maintained O ring chain is around 25000km. I think you should replace the chain and sprockets at the time planned by you, i.e., around 20k. Cost would be around Rs.1000.

Show it to the SVC, ASAP just to be sure.

Think my ride's chain might need maintenance/replacement, because some of the links aren't looking well. They might do damage to the sprockets. Need to get it checked at the SVC

Hehe. Ya guess the chain is the most ignored part. And I've read horror stories about chains going bonkers

BTW to access the front sprocket, is it as simple as unscrewing the cabinet just above the gear-shifter (there's only one screw that attaches the cabinet to the bike... or are there more?)

South ? Basavangudi area ? Ashwa TVS is ok .others are not that good in south.Heard great feedbacks from bridgestone TVS (rajajinagar)
