1) The Vibration issue which everyone is talking about, is there too much vibration on higher speeds ?-hey when you got so much power then you wont be thinking about vibsOriginally posted by Iceman_1 View Post
2) My daily riding would be of total 40kms which includes traffic and also highway. Mix of both.- no worry Apache can perform in both city and on highway don't worry
3) Is the ABS a Combined ABS ?-its an independent ABS there is a switch above the bikes console to tune off or on the ABS.but by default the ABS is always on
4) Any engine heating issue ?-no if everything is tuned good there is no sign of overheating

hey apachians i think i got a problem with my gearbox...most of the time its ok but sometimes its does funny stuff.Today i was on 3-4 gear not sure which one exactly, the bike was stationary but the gears wouldnt change
at all plus i left the clutch and the bike was still working it didnt stall...so i put the bike off moved it a bit then started the bike, after this it was ok it downshifted all the way to 1st.Is it the gearbox or clutch plate wearing out cause sometimes even while accelerating the bike looses its power for a split second??

RTR does have clutch issues
RTR do have the clutch issues, the gearbox is isnt smooth. Well i have tried couple of things like check the clutch play frequently, make sure that you use oil additive i use Bardahl additive along with shell semi-synthetic oil and most importantly proper gear ratios, Despite of this, u can check if ur bike is jerking when u r changing the gears as if someone releases the clutch too soon, this kind of behaviour is something that ur clutch plate is about to expire.Originally posted by jude.manutd View Posthey apachians i think i got a problem with my gearbox...most of the time its ok but sometimes its does funny stuff.Today i was on 3-4 gear not sure which one exactly, the bike was stationary but the gears wouldnt change

Test ride both of them, your confusion will go away. BTW RTR vs fzOriginally posted by WitchuMon View Postwhich one is the best when comparing apache rtr 180 abs and yamaha fz16/fazer ( i dont like fzs ). i am confused among these bikes .. can anyone please help me ? the branding price of yamaha wont get for tvs ?
are you serious. If you leave vibrations, RTR beats the crap out of fz. Be it acceleration, braking or even mileage. Compare rtr to r15 or pulsar 220 and not to pulsar 180 or fz.
How much air pressure does your bike run on? I keep it at 25(front), 28(rear). Anything above leads to skidding for me.Originally posted by A4D View Posti too get around 52kms if i keep the bike at 4k rpm and max speed of 55kms so yea the bike is awesome with mileage too
and the engine kill switch is useful on signals too
Cheers guys!!!Originally posted by atulgupta230489 View Postguys PAGE NO. 1000!! CHEERS

I don't think that's a problem since the bike was stationary and you weren't giving throttle to match the revs for downshifting. So gearbox is ok. Maybe changing oil to different brand will help. You're using tru4?Originally posted by jude.manutd View Posthey apachians i think i got a problem with my gearbox...most of the time its ok but sometimes its does funny stuff.Today i was on 3-4 gear not sure which one exactly, the bike was stationary but the gears wouldnt change

For the bold part, Cluch plates could be problem because symptoms are of that but I think your chain maybe loose because I was feeling same yesterday so I got it checked from SVC and the mechanic said that chain was loose and he added some kind of oil and also adjusted it and the bike felt great later while accelerating. Get it checked for same from SVC.

THe vibrations can be reduced.
Make the chain as smooth as possible with slackness at best 10mm +-
Not only the oil but use additive with oil. In course of time the viscousity of oil gets reduced, the oil becomes thineer, so additive prevents that.
Most importantly, the AF mixture. Make the air fuel misture richer, and rotate the RPM knob which controls the actual fuel flow to a bit linner side. This will make ur bike to take a good fuel, will drop mileage by 3-4 or so but u will feel a lot change in terms of vibs.
Lastly and not the least, pterol petrol, use a additive like Iftex, 5 ML for every 2ltrs of petrol.
Now check the pickup and grunt u will notice a drastic change.
I have tried Shell Semi synthic oil, its way too gud man.

Thanx i thought maybe something in the gearbox was kaput. One more thing the bike was just standing (0kmph) and in gear(probably 3rd) but even though i left the clutch the bike didnt go off....like the time when your in 1st and leave the clutch too soon the bike jumps forwards and stalls that didnt happen, isnt that a problem??Yes using tru4 they dont let me change the oil when i asked they said change it after the free services are over.Originally posted by cs1183 View PostI don't think that's a problem since the bike was stationary and you weren't giving throttle to match the revs for downshifting. my bike is almost new just done around 1600kms,should it be giving such problems this early?Originally posted by blazing180 View PostRTR do have the clutch issues, the gearbox is isnt smooth. For the bold part. If you mean to say that you left the clutch in 3rd gear at 0km/h and the engine didn't turn offOriginally posted by jude.manutd View PostThanx i thought maybe something in the gearbox was kaput. One more thing the bike was just standing (0kmph) and in gear(probably 3rd) but even though i left the clutch the bike didnt go off....like the time when your in 1st and leave the clutch too soon the bike jumps forwards and stalls that didnt happen, isnt that a problem??Yes using tru4 they dont let me change the oil when i asked they said change it after the free services are over.
then there's surely something wrong.
But if you mean that it didn't jump forward and engine turns off at the same place then it's ok. Look 1st gear always gives high pickup than 2nd or 3rd so if you let go the clutch on 1st then it moves forward and stalls but if on 3rd then it just stalls without moving forward (just little movement can be felt).
And since you've just done 1600km, the clutch plates should be ok. You can ask SVC to check the clutch lever play though.
About engine oil, use tru4 for free services as told and then change to any one semi-synth from following:
Motul 5100 10W40, Shell AX7 10W40, Gulf pride 4t plus 10W40 or Castrol power1 15W40.Last edited by cs1183; 02-23-2012, 06:07 PM.

Please check these pics and tell if the mixture is optimum or not
