Garry, did you wipe off that area clean and does it re-appear dirty?

Naah, I didn't clean it. I was thinking that how on the first place it became sticky/oily there?

        • accident !

I encountered my first (hopefully my last) accident today, am lucky that i am even typing this now. I could have been in hospital with a broken leg had it not been for the leg guard bar and ABS.

A******s riding triples on a Apache ( ) plowed into me while doing a 180' turn to avoid a traffic cop. Their motorcycle hit my leg guard and then my leg. I lost balance and i braked hard. Thought i was about to skid after hearing the screeching sound, but i regained balance instead.

No damage to the bike (not even a scratch ), but myself got a few painful bruises in my ankle. Took a deep breath to clear myself and rode home thanking my lucky stars.

I witnessed this when for the first time I did the speed check, went to SVC (Raj TVS) they changed the gasket and applied some kind of seal (don't know what that was)

My name is Chirag Sharma and I live at Kurukshetra, Haryana. I think I maybe youngest here. Here's my story (Warning: lengthy)

It was April, 2011. I wanted an R15 and my parents agreed to buy me that but said It'll take time. But later, due to not having enough amount, I was told to select a bike within 70k . We were going to buy on finance and as soon as I select "which bike I want". I thought there were only two good bikes i.e. R15 and pulsar 180 because I had only ridden pulsar 180 of my friend. Didn't realise there are other bikes like Apache and Karizma. Now there came two options: Pulsar 180 and Pulsar 150. Pulsar 150 was in my budget (around 69k onroad) so I chose that. Now I told about my decision to my pulsar 180 friend and he was like-"are you mad?". He said Pulsar 180 is only 3k more than that 150 and is much better overall. I rethink my decision and told my parents that I want pulsar 180. They said 150 is better as it'll give better mileage. I said I don't want mileage, rather I'd like the extra power. They easily agreed to buy me a 180. I was like wow! Now I was telling about my bike to my friends. [(1st friend, 2nd friend): so as not to get confused]
I told to my 1st friend on phone:- Me: Hey, What do you think about pulsar 180? HE: Great bike! Are you buying? ME: Yes. It's a good decision na? HE: Yes and it's much better than Apache 180. ME: (in mind: what Apache 180? but as he said pulsar is better so) Yeah it looks and preforms better. Ok bye!
Then told to my 2nd friend on phone:- Me: Hey, pulsar 180 or apache 180. HE: Pulsar 180, of course. Me: Yeah I've just finalized on that. HE: Great! ..[Now his friend took the phone from him].. His friend: Don't buy pulsar 180, it's too common. Apache 180 has much better pickup. Me: (in mind: what's pickup? Since I had ridden pulsar 180 and loved the power so) but I don't like apache's looks. His friend: Apache looks much better in white. Me: But I'm buying the pulsar 180. ..[My friend took the phone now].. He: Hey, pulsar looks much better. Buy that! ME: Yeah definitely, bye!
Now It was 95% pulsar and 5% apache for me. So we got the cheque of pulsar 180 from bank for the finance and we already had the quote which was around 72k on road. Now I asked my parents how's Apache 180. They said "Bad company (TVS), bad mileage and bad engine, bad resale value and bad everything." I was like .
But Apache was in my mind and I thought that I am making a wrong choice. So what I did was sms my 10 friends which include my pulsar 180 friend. I wrote in sms: Pulsar 180 or Apache 180. And the result was: 9 votes for apache and just 1 vote for pulsar and that also by my pulsar friend.
Now I was in a big confusion. I asked my parents if I can get a test ride of apache before they make payment for pulsar as I don't want to regret later. I also told them that I don't like apache and won't change my decison but still. They said, "Yes, why not. Let's go".
Then we went straight to TVS showroom and asked about the test ride. They readily accepted as if they were waiting for me. They gave me a yellow 180. I sat on bike to get the feel but didn't like the sitting position at first but I felt it's much much lighter than pulsar. I asked my mom how I'm looking on bike. She said,"You look much better on pulsar". Then I took a ride and while riding, I was trying to convince myself that pulsar is much better than this but I couldn't because of the prefect handling, excellent pickup, great exhaust note and biggest reason being it lighter than pulsar. When I came back after the ride, my mom was looking at me and said It looks beautiful when it's moving and asked me to buy this bike. I was like," You stole my words, mom!" I am buying this bike. There was no white apache in showroom and yellow was looking hot. I asked them if they can arrange the white one. They said that white one will be here on monday (It was wednesday). I came back home but didn't want to wait. So I thought let's buy yellow. It looks cool. But again thanks to myself , I did sms poll again. I wrote Apache 180: white or yellow? and the result was 8 for white and 2 for yellow. So I waited till monday and bought white apache 180 on 21 april 2011 which costed me 73,400 INR OTR excluding number (including no: 76k).
That's how I got myself an Apache and I am loving it. Thank you for reading.
Congo on getting the bike dude.....now you have a little piece of heaven.....rtr is not a bike it's a way of life.......enjoy it!!!

PS: Don't ask opinion on apache from pulsar guys.....we guys are the opposites....pulsar guys rarely like apache likewise apache guys also rarely like pulsar

When I Ride my bike I don't feel like a common man.
              I feel special.
I feel something which is beyond words.
That is the thing which makes my bike special, me special, the whole ride seem exceptional .

              • There's nothing like keeping the bike in stock. Reverting back to 14T was such a bliss and it was evident yesterday, when I took her for a blast on the ECR.

PS: Rode P220 for the first time a few days ago. The condition was far from good. I felt that it lacks the 'feel' or the connection between the rider and the machine, which we get so much from the RTR. This is not to belittle the monster. Just a thought.

Wow Bro, nice write up there. Enjoyed every bit of it. Yeah, the pearl white shade is really cool to look at and the paint quality, top notch.
Glad you liked it. Now, everytime I see a yellow apache, I realise that I chose the perfect colour.

I didn't know about the pulsar vs apache at that time

and i was thinking of customizing my exhaust just like pulsar NS 200 (through my dad friends factory who deals with creating thing with metal) or any other exhaust shape but idea is to compact it

i have heard that pulsar NS 200 has catalytic converter so small that it fits in header pipe of silencer itself so any any idea where i can get so small atalytic converter or if i remove it what are pros and cons ???

Yes, RTR 180 has a catalytic converter.

RTR Fi is the bike which doesnt have any catalytic converter.

And that is the reason, why it has the most beautiful exhaust note of all INDIAN bikes, I just love the RTR FI's exhaust note, pure bliss.
